Maybe they were just singing along as a joke, and didn't really mean it, since there are a lot of jewish people in the US.
***listens to both songs **
yeah I just noticed that wierd also the opening to dance of death is very like face in the sand does anyone know... is age of innocence about the farmer tony martin? (quick expl. U.K farmer who was sent to prison for shooting two burglars, one of whom died, very well publicised english court case whilst dod was being written,) lines like: "you can't even protect yourselves ... even in your own home" made me think of that...
i thought that when i heard it as well. you'd have to ask whoever in maiden who wrote it if its about that though |

state of the country isnt exactly great. living there could be a lot better. like if there was a decent government. **** anti-hunt mps

the Age of Innocence is also a book.
There's another theme Maiden do really well... books. Or, stories/poems etc. Brave New World, Out Of The Silent Planet, Rime Of The Ancient Marinner, To Tame A Land, Flight of Icarus, Number Of The Beast, the whole 7th son album (based on a legend), the list goes on and on. I think the Wicker man was also originally a book, and you could losely put Phantom in here too. |

So is the loneliness of the long distance runner. I only recently found this out, when some one was talking about the book, and I thought he was talking about the song... |
so, books are a pretty good source of maideny songs
|
So, it seems. Maybe on the uni break I'll get some of these books out and read 'em.
Can someone please tell me what Back In The Village means? |
yeah dune is a great book
out of the silent planet is interesting too it's by Lewis caroll (the lion, the witch and the wardrobe authour) |

Does anybody know the inspiration of Revealations? The last bit says: "For the one who will be king, The watcher and the ring, it is you..." Could be Lord of The Rings, But I'm probably so wrong, it's immoral :(

the first bit is an english hymnal but other than that... i dunno one of maiden's best tho'... |
It's very similar to the Intro to Wasted Years...
Yea, I know, what is the difference anyway? There is open 0's in Wasted Years? Plus I like that background going in Losfer Words. |
I'm pretty sure it is about the plight of the Egyptians, in that their Pharoah's are convinced that they are gods, and as such are far too impressed with themselves. This has led to the land being ruined, because all the Pharoah's do is raise monuments of themselves. The hymnal also refers to this.
Then the first verse is about the current Pharoah, and how he realises his foolish ways after the gods punish him; in a dream, perhaps? "Just a babe in the black abyss, /No reason for a place like this... So he agrees to conceive his new child with a spirit in order to ensure the child is a benevolent, modest ruler. (2nd verse) And the third verse refers to him wishing the child good luck, as he must re-unite Egypt, and bring an end to all the pain and suffering caused by the greedy pharoah's. Don't know what the chorus means though. This is based loosely on an ancient pharoah, but I can't remember which one it was. |
Yea, I know, what is the difference anyway? There is open 0's in Wasted Years? Plus I like that background going in Losfer Words.
The riff in Losfer word is like has less open then Wasted years. The only other difference is the speed. Apart from that, they are identical. The intro is also very similar, except for the tapping on the 12th fret. I think those riffs were written by Adrian. Nice job Riva :thumb: Cheers for clearing that up. |
Back in the Village is a sequel to The Prisoner.
'the village' is the village where patrick mcgoohan was captured - remember that bit of Back in the Village? "I don't have a number, I'm a name?" or something like that. |

Ok, it makes much more sense now. Oh, and apparently Powerslave is the sequel to Revelations. The baby Pharoah which they wanted to be benevolent turned corrupt anyway. |
Cool. Are there any other "sequels" out there?

Dunno. I remember Bruce saying it somewhere. |
The only other sequels I can think of is the Charlotte the harlot Quadrilogy.

And yeah, I haven't seen Frail online in ages. My Judas Priest thread hasn't had a single post by him. |

I miss Frail, the MX doesn't seem right without him...
|
No, something is surely upsetting the natural balance of the world.
