I think it is, I would just place it above Under a funeral moon and A blaze in the northern sky

Shadows Within 12-03-2005 06:30 PM

Right now im obessed with

Nevermore
Children Of Bodom
Biomechanical
Opeth

Shadows Within 12-03-2005 06:34 PM

Ok im stuck and its pissing me off for some reason I only seem to like 4 bands that I listen to frequently but I want more.

I want more bands like these,

Nevermore
Children Of Bodom
Biomechanical

And please not Death/Black/Doom cause I really dont like those.

Bartender 12-03-2005 06:36 PM
Check out these albums.
You won't regret it, I promise (unless you don't have an open mind)
Well that's not really fair to say. Having an open mind is not synonymous with liking everything you hear uncritically. I'm pretty sure I have an open mind, but there are definitely albums I don't like.

Lord Abortion 12-03-2005 06:41 PM

True, I would consider myself reasonably open to music, but if I had a copy of Fungus Amongus by Incubus I would hit it with a hammer until it smashed.

Bass-AKIRA 12-03-2005 06:56 PM

I listen to pretty much nothing ,( Metallica, slipknot,SoaD,Extol)

but of what i can say you shoudl listen to Extol.

I am almost in the same situation with you... I mean for the last months I keep listening to Nevermore, Opeth and Biomechanical.
I am going to suggest checking out:
1) Wastefall, a Greek prog metal band which has all the good Nevermore and Biomechanical elements as well as some Pain of Salvation one's (go to www.wastefall.com and download their stuff).
2) Communic, a Norwegian prog-power band which is really similar to nevermore. Their first album got very good to awesome reviews in every European magazine.
Have fun..

Jacaranda 12-03-2005 09:28 PM

GenuineImitation 12-03-2005 09:28 PM
Agalloch
Adorned Brood
Atheist
Death
Emperor
Fantomas
Finntroll
In Flames
Meshuggah
Opeth
Best list ever. Threadstarter, these are all you need.

Freezing Moon 12-04-2005 12:56 AM

Personally, I would stay away from about half of the bands mentioned here. Some of it is really good though, so you can decide what you like for yourself.

You'll probably like stuff like In Flames, Opeth, and Dark Tranquillity a lot.

Leukeh 12-04-2005 01:08 AM

SlipKnoT
Ill Niño
Stone Sour
Probot
Shadows Fall
MurderDolls

Just because you don't like them doesn't mean he won't. He said SOAD, so I gave him some sort of similar stuff. I like pretty much every band stated in this thread, but theres nothing much similar to SOAD. Just helping the guy so stop being a dick and respect what people other than yourself listen to.

ValeOfShadows 12-04-2005 01:40 AM

Lamb Of God
Shadows Fall
Arch Enemy
Kataklysm
Mudvayne (best nu-metal band IMO)
Cradle Of Filth
Children Of Bodom

Yeah, I actually thought about that when I posted it.
But MX was acting up at the time, so I couldn't edit my post.

About the last line; why?
______________________________________________________________

Blind Guardian-Nightfall at Middle-Earth [it's the only album I have by them, but it's good]

Dragonforce-Sonic Firestorm [if you like "crazy solos", then they certainly have them]

Heathen perhaps? You can download two full albums from them for free from their website. http://www.heathenmetal.com/index2.html

Into Eternity-Buried in Oblivion [I listened to Biochemical at their website and I think maybe you will like Into Eternity] You can download a few songs at their website. http://www.intoeternity.net/disc.php

maybe Kiuas[I'm not real familar with, but they use keyboards doing something other than chords all the time] http://www.kiuas.net/

"Kalmah and Norther" is the general response to "bands like COB"

The Cynic 12-04-2005 05:39 PM

Can somebody recommend me some Mercyful Fate and King Diamond?

The Dark Philosopher 12-06-2005 11:01 AM
Can somebody recommend me some Mercyful Fate and King Diamond?
If you want albums for King Diamond go for The Puppet Master (Not Master Of Puppets:p ), Spiders Lullabye or Abigail...all of them are amazing.

For some great songs by King Diamond:
A Mansion In Drakness
The Candle
No Presents For Christmas
The Loa House
Abigail
Halloween
At the Graves
Omens
Funeral

I don't know much about Mercyful Fate so i can't talk about them.
