Next election, maybe some real candidates(like Arnold) will run.
|
Well, it looks like Im in the minority here. I voted for Bush. I just don't trust Kerry. I also don't feel that Edwards has what it takes to run the country if something happened to Kerry. I think the major downfall of the Democratic party was having Edwards run with Kerry.
As for the people who watched Farenheit 911 and thinks that everything in that is true, thats just sad that you would let an obviously biased glorified attack ad influence you that way. I would hate to think that I was such a person to let Micheal Moore influence any decision I made. I believe Kerry would have won the election if he would have picked a better running mate and didn't flip flop and pander so much during the election. Its basically picking the best of 2 wrong answers..... |

Not really in the R and M, just a trend I see on MX.
|
Fair enough.
|
I should be king of that United Provinces or whatever it is down there.
|
Well, like I said, it was a decision based on picking the right answer from all the wrong answers. The democratic party is in trouble if Edwards is the best they had to choose from. He is basically a new politician the grand scheme of things, I and it looks like the majority of the country, just didnt think he could be trusted to run the country in the event something happened to Kerry.
I really think Kerry would have won this by a land slide if he would not have flip flopped and pandered so much. You just couldn't figure out which way he was going as he changed his point of view to whomever he was speaking to. I really think Micheal Moores movie hurt him really bad. While I won't comment on Moore everyone who based thier vote on this movie should watch Farenhype, I think your eyes will be opened as to what kind of person Moore is. Anyway, in better news we are auditioning guitar players tonight! I hope we get this nightmare fixed and someone chose in the next week or so and get to work. Man, whoever is chosen is set up to make some INSANE cash just in the shows we have booked in December. |
Gephardt was the most popular alternative from what I read, but he's one of yesterday's Democrats, who wouldn't really have galvanised anyone.
Meh Gephardt would not cut it IMO, he just gave up after the very first caucus(sp?), doesnt seemed too determined at all. Also most of his labor union supporters were supporting Kerry and Dean instead of him, leaving him weaker in support. And SFK, you arent the only one who would pick Bush over Kerry ;) |
*sighs* More politics discussions everywhere I look. I have already given up on this country anyways :p

So I've been thinking of covering a Pink Floyd song for Music Club. I was thinking of doing Wish you Were here, sound like a good idea?
|
As long as it is one of Floyd's good songs it's a good idea... although I'd suggest Bike.
I don't know about you guys but I'm glad Bush won... cause the tax increase would be on the people who earn 200,000 or more a year.... and my dad runs a small buisiness, and he has to split that money out paying employees, and then he'd have to pay higher taxes that don't reflect his cut of the income. |

I would say something different unless you are primarily a singer, a lot of it is just strumming. It is also covered by a lot of the local bands I know. Do "Dogs,' or "Echoes" Hah ;) I am not glad at all that Bush won, there are a million reasons to dislike him, and Bush is not going to help small businesses either. |
I was thinking of Dogs, but I would need to use an electric for the solos, and I gotta use an acoustic for this. For WYWH I would focus on the solos, I could probably also get someone to do the vocals for me.

I guess if it is acoustic only, that is probably gonna have to be it, although coming back to life has a great acoustic intro...it has electric though. |
Come on man... Bike.

Do you think Kerry should run again in 2008? Or would you rather see someone else run?
Next election, maybe some real candidates(like Arnold) will run.
Arnold Schwartsanger or however its spelled couldn't run. He was born in Austria. Or are you referring to someone else? Music club? I wish I knew of a local one. I can't suggest a Pink Floyd song for you though, not really into them so I don't know many of their songs. |
I don't have much of a preference anymore, since I am likely taking my degree and leaving the country for good anyways. Or financial situation will be atrocious and I will make much more in other countries. Not to mention I fully expect to lose my main civil freedoms withina year, being a Hispanic Athiest it is only a matter of time before Bush pulls out another Patriot Act aginst folk like me, AZ already did, and I live there :upset:
|
There has been a bill floating around that will allow foreigners to run after living in the US for a certain number of years :thumb:
|
That would be awesome... Arnold could run for prez.

You complain about our economy here.... just wait 'til you leave the country. The Us Economy > Most Other Economies. |

Really? It'll never pass. We never pass anything unless its extremely narrow-minded, like the gay marriage amendments to state constitutions. Too many die-hard christians to let that not pass..I think of it as a kind of persecution, but hey..no one in the government cares what I think, though thats what they're elected to do. The United States might be on the verge of civil war and we are just oblivious to that. Its still unclear if John Titor was right. But its looking like he wasn't..Can still hope though! |
Do you think Kerry should run again in 2008? Or would you rather see someone else run?
Two words: Barack Obama. That guy is the most charismatic, non-divisive, common-sense democrat out there, and is a rising star within the party. Anyway, after spending the day feeling really really dejected, I've come to the simple conclusion that the Democrats really are, for all my hopes, horrible flip-floppers and are very emaciated as a party, and as a result we are in huge huge trouble. I mean, if Bush can't lose either vote after all the **** that's gone down on his watch, it means the second party is dangerously weak. Just in terms of a democratic balance of power, it is imperative that the Democratic party stop being the "Demographic" party and quit pandering to every possible base. If Kerry stuck by a few opinions and projected some of the same steadfastness as Bush, the choice would have been clear and Kerry would have swept the nation. Our country is based on a two-party system, Nader be ****ed. That's the way it is and that is how it always will be. And if the Democrats are so, so weak that they cannot defeat the incompetent incumbent, then that not only means we are in huge trouble party-wise, we are in serious trouble power-wise. The Republicans have a returning President with no more elections to lose, and majorities in the House and Senate. That's a ****ing scary thought, let me tell you. |
You complain about our economy here.... just wait 'til you leave the country. The Us Economy > Most Other Economies.
Have you looked at the purchasing power of the dollar recently? The American dollar is dropping like a stone, and the Euro is doing great, as are the pound and other dollars. If by most you mean third-world countries, then yes, true. |
Yes. I'll agree with that as much as someone who is partially informed can. I'd really like to see Nader get a major party nomination, I really think the poor dude deserves it. If he somehow got the Democratic party nomination in 2008 I'd vote Nader. If Kerry runs in 2008 I'll vote for him. In 2008 I'll actually be able to, but somehow I doubt he will run again. Next election I will be more informed, or will try to be. Ripper, have you heard of John Titor, or do you not know what I mean when I'm talking about that?
Do any of you know of John Titor? |
Anyone else having trouble with Mxtabs loading? Or is it just my stupid internet service..?
|
Yes, I know of John Titor.

20, I think, and Arnold rather handily became a citizen in 1983. |
w00t, I have 17 rep points, I am moving up in the world
If Arnold became president, I think I would be willing to live in this country. |
If Arnold became President, I would be glad to live in your country.
