Maybe I'll just pick up the Essential Donovan or something then.

drugstore cowboy 05-28-2005 04:35 PM

Does anyone here like Chilliwack and/or Lighthouse? They're both Canadian bands. Lighthouse was sort of rock + a brass section, sort of in the manner of Chicago but smaller. Chilliwack was sort of "Lighthouse on acid" and without the brass...

I have one album each on vinyl, and I love them both. They're very refreshing to listen to, especially Lighthouse. I would suggest downloading that you can find.

Does anyone here collect/own vinyls? I just purchased Black Sabbath "We Sold Our Souls For Rock 'n' Roll and Neil Young "Freedom", but I have yet to listen to either.

lunch998 05-28-2005 04:48 PM

My father has a decent collection, but I don't have my own.

Freedom is good, quite underrated.

Canadian-Guy 05-28-2005 06:08 PM

I've heard good things about Chilliwack.

I have quite a large vinyl collection. Maybe about six hundred or so, but I can never keep count. I only own like thirty CDs though, I don't really buy CDs very often.

A lot of Black Sabbath albums are actually quite expensive on vinyl, mainly their first few.

I have a Lighthouse album and I like it. I'm pretty sure I have a couple Chilliwack albums too, but I don't listen to them regularly. I actually really like the band, but they are played on my radiostation constantly...so I never find it necessary to put on one of their albums.

Today my mom just mentioned that she and my dad had a record collection somewhere. I might look around for it.

I was looking around in my garage one day and found over twenty of my mom's old records, including ELP, Dylan, The kinks, Led Zep, and The Eagles.
I was so angry she never told me she had them

I think every parent has a hidden stash of records somewhere. I started collecting records after my friends dad gave me about thirty of them. Plus my dad works with a guy who has a basement full of vinyl albums, and he sells them for a buck each. It's just hard going through all the albums and picking out ones I like, because they are evenly divided between like classical, country, rock, etc. and there's like 20 thousand of them.

Leper 05-28-2005 07:39 PM

I don't know why parents would hide their old record collections. My parents never hid theirs, though some of the albums i found makes me think they should have..lol

RiceMonster 05-28-2005 07:55 PM

My Dad leaves his record/cd collection open for me to steal some of his albums. He's got quite a few good ones actually. My mom's CDs are like John Denver(sp?) and Elton John, so of course I have no interest.

lunch998 05-28-2005 07:57 PM

Elton John actually has some decent stuff if you get around the crap. I also steal/borrow my dad's albums.

thickasabrick 05-28-2005 07:58 PM

I just took my dads albums he only had like fifty though

JonG 05-28-2005 07:58 PM

My dad has a roomful at his brothers. Some good Yes, Grateful Dead, Flying Burrito Bros, CSN(Y)

RiceMonster 05-28-2005 07:59 PM

I've heard most of Elton's older stuff, which my mom is into, and I didn't like it too much. My house is heaven for any Beatles fan. My parents have a biography, and I believe every album they've released as well.

lunch998 05-28-2005 08:00 PM

I think everyone's parents are Beatles fans, though mine aren't fanatics.

The Burrito's don't get enough love 'round here =p. I adore them. Country Rock is so cool...

I have this book that explains the stories behind every Beatles song. It's pretty cool, and I've picked up quite a wealth of trivial knowledge.

Mine are hige fanatics. They put on the Beatles all the time. I know most of there songs, and I've kind of grown tired of it.

Ya Country Rock rules..

where'd you get that Beatles book??
I think everyone's parents are Beatles fans, though mine aren't fanatics.
My dads not a big Beatles fan, I'm sure he doesn't mind them though. My mom always starts singing along, so I don't listen to Beatles around her.

Woodstock 05-28-2005 08:16 PM

My whole family loves the Beatles, even my grandpa. I was raised to them.

My dad has a huge vinyl collection with hundreds of rare records in mint condition. He's leaving them for me in his will.

drugstore cowboy 05-28-2005 08:17 PM

^I'm in about the same situation (as thickasabrick) =p

As for the book, it's called "A Hard Day's Write" (pun, aahahah...) and it's written by a man by the name of Steve Turner. I got it for christmas, but it should be around, if you look for it. It's a really good read if you're a Beatles fan.

The Mods are done with Official Threads for now. We don't get a lot of The Who threads, so we aren't in need of one either. If you want you can make a thread on them, but don't make it official.

drugstore cowboy 05-28-2005 08:29 PM

Fine by me =p Thanks.

np: In my time of dying - Led Zep

Gotta love that slide guitar

Element of LED 435 05-28-2005 08:39 PM
