Converge
'The Broken Vow' a torrid example of the power of loss. musically a harrowing experience that tosses its way between the tremolo sweeps of lead guitarist, Kurt Ballou and the unsurpassed rhythmic aggression of Ben Koller and Nate Newton. compositionally, Converge has proven time and time again that they can dynamically craft the finest in metal music and 'The Broken Vow' is the testament. without even mentioning the astonishing vocal performance of Jacob Bannon, this work could be considered perfect. but, another layer of excellence is thrown on top as the composition builds up to one of the most reiterated breakdowns in modern 'extreme music'. Bannon's calls of 'i'll take this love to the grave' will find their echoes in numerous lion's clubs around the world. in a sense, the textbook example of how to create an emotional response through the median of 'metal'. |
quite

Fuck Buttons - Street Horrrsing
This is incredible. Seriously, if anyone is interested in listening to this I've got a link. One of the lushest sounding noise albums I've heard in a long time. 2008 albums have already been amazing and it's not even february yet. Destroyer Earth Fuck Buttons Jonny Greenwood Los Campesinos! Why? Xiu Xiu Youthmovies All ace. |
yeah I'd like that link Kyle, thanks.
The Fall - Extricate a good album, not a classic or anything, but solid. |
Yeah Kyle is it in your blog or do you wanna rep the link or whaa?
