Unearth is more on the metal side of metalcore (solos) and Underoath is more on the core sid
So basically Underoath>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Unearth?

Which is the one that's nothing but Jesus freaks?

iamtherobots 08-05-2009 11:25 PM

Underoath is metalcore...

Unearth is metalcore...

Underoath has mad post hardcore influence and cool sampling.

Unearth has generic wannabe Swedish MDM riffs and a lot of breakdowns.

Unearth's first two albums were awesome.

TomTheOverlord 08-05-2009 11:26 PM

Underoath haven't shoved jesus into the lyrics as of recent, but they are rather preachy live.

iamtherobots 08-05-2009 11:27 PM

They're not bad about the preachiness.
Spencer's vocals in This Runs Through are incredible. His vocals when he first joined Underoath were pretty absurd, he sounded like he could be in a band like Daughters or Destroyer Destroyer or some ****. He has a very very powerful mid range though. Mids are by far the most difficult technique to get down.

Spencer's high range was pretty blown out by the time they recorded DTGL. I've found the vocals on Ruin and that album to be somewhat similar in style, however I definitely digged Sam's use of highs on that album a lot, where Spencer's are good on DTGL, they're not as good idk.
I love Spencer's vox on TOCS... because their so high pitched all the time and it's badass. But yeah the dude from Architects rapes Spencer.

Underoath I guess. But I don't think they push it too much. Not enough to ruin the music anyway.

Jaundice 08-05-2009 11:29 PM

So wait the preachy Jesus freaks are the ones that don't have guitar solos?

I'll have to hear this to believe it, that's a contradiction if I've ever heard one

I'm surprised that wasn't the Best of Me life video.

Unearth, not Jesus

Nah man their song Bled Dry features one of the most immense breakdowns I have ever heard.

Thats another good one man. Oncoming Storm is the best thing they put out.

iamtherobots 08-06-2009 12:06 AM

That and The Great Dividers, and maybe one or two other songs are the only songs by them I ever listen to anymore, tbh.

Do you listen to they're REALLY old stuff?

Jaundice 08-06-2009 12:09 AM

Silverfang bro you need to chill with misusing contractions

iamtherobots 08-06-2009 12:13 AM

Stings Of Conscience and Before The Fall Of Man are alright. I own the CD's and I have an Unearth shirt, I just don't listen to them much anymore.

AKA I went from listen to melodic death metal influenced metalcore to listening to metalcore influenced melodic death metal.
