i was considering listening to all the hendrix i have in honor of his death day, but then i realized it would take longer than a day. i'll listen to most of it then.

rip jimi!

ATM 09-18-2005 01:17 PM

RIP Jimi

I decided today that Canned Heat's On the Road is the absolute best driving/smoking song.

Broken Arrow 09-18-2005 01:20 PM

Driving, yes. Smoking, no.

Great song though. I have the Best of, Boogie with Canned Heat and Live at the Topanga Corral, all great albums.

EDIt-or do you mean at the same time?

angusmaster 09-18-2005 01:21 PM

Im gonna listen to Jimi songs now.

NP:Voodoo Chile (slight return)

I meant at the same time.

Does anyone have any of my requests? :-/

Broken Arrow 09-18-2005 01:28 PM

I have The Pusher but I have to go right now. So sorry.

JonG 09-18-2005 01:29 PM

I'll upload American Beauty after Lawn Boy.

Thanks man. Anything you are looking for?

JonG 09-18-2005 01:39 PM

Nope, I'm fine.
I would go as far as to say Jeff Beck was one of the most visionary and innovative guitarist to ever play a guitar not to mention his lightning fast technical ability. If you add it all up you could very well argue that he is the most talented guitarist to ever play.

I also don't see what's the big deal with all Clapton's projects either. Derek and the Dominoes, Yardbirds, Cream, and Solo meh.....I could do without it all. Although I do highly respect his songwritting skill.
Dismising Cream like that would be a mistake. I'm guessing you've heard most of their albums, but if there's any you haven't, I can send them to you. The second disk of Wheels of Fire really shows off the whole bands insane talent.

I need music too. I downloaded disc 2 yesterday actully. I got it from Lunch awhile ago too but for some reason all his downloads never stay on my computer. :-/

See I feel the exact same way as you....except opposite. I agree Jeff Beck is an extremely talented and multidimensional guitarist, but I prefer listening to Clapton mainly because I like Claptons songs better. I like them both, but I'd listen to Clapton over Beck any day (unless I already listened to my fill of Clapton).

I agree with you. When I listen to Jeff Beck, I feel like I'm only listening to guitar, which is true, that's all I really pay any attention to in his songs. With Clapton, especially Cream, I love the guitarwork, but also Bruce's basswork and singing, and Ginger's drumming. Cream is just more enjoyable to listen to for me.

BTW- Thick did you get the Dylan?

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 09-18-2005 02:26 PM

I could see why people would want to listin to Clapton over Beck but Clapton's music just isn't amazing" like Beck's is. Not to say it's all bad and I hate all of it. It's just nothing fantastic that's all. "Spoonful" is amazing though.

NP: Spoonful (live) - Cream

Illmatic 09-18-2005 02:29 PM

Beck got robbed of what probably could have been the biggest hit of his career when Stevie Wonder's record label told him to record "Superstitious" instead of giving it to Beck.

/random

but I guess I kinda prefer Beck to Clapton. Dunno why.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 09-18-2005 02:29 PM

I need live Cream. I think all their studio work is bad to sub-par but this live cd is really good. Any (old) Cream bootlegs out there?

Jacaranda 09-18-2005 02:35 PM

I can't stand blues so I'm not a big Clapton fan. I'd rather listen to Beck's stuff any day. I still have found no luck in finding Guitar Shop. :upset:

jpj 09-18-2005 02:46 PM

Everyone's uploading all these albums, and I still haven't listened to all the ones I already have. God damn school taking up all my time.

magicbus 09-18-2005 02:47 PM

I'll take the live Cream too please.

Does anybody know if Cream's Farewell concert (they made a DVD out of it) was bootlegged?

Glitterati 09-18-2005 02:48 PM

I think Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton are both awesomely talented. In slightly different ways.

That would be awesome. I love the intro to "Politician", but on the Strange Brew dvd they don't show the whole song.

I have it mp3, not m4a, which means I don't have to waste an hour converting it to mp3 like I do for everything else. Disc 1 should be done in like a half hour.

Flaminghotchino 09-18-2005 03:17 PM

Best song to get listen to while getting blazed = Smokey Day by The Zombies.

Odessey and Oracle is so good.

Sweet, but knowing my PBS it'll be something about hunting or fishing. They don't have Austin City Limits, instead they have something like Hunting In the Winter or some crap like that.

It may be, but I remeber people from different states talking about what PBS has been playing, you might wat to check your local PBS station, they might have anti-Dylan laws in Texas :p

You better be sorry! (Edit: Come to think of it our tastes are kind of different. Nevermind.)

I'm pretty sure I'm going to get a drug test tonight. I'll just use the old yellow food coloring trick and I should be alright. If I get caught though so long all the great concerts I could potentialy see. After my dad leaves I'll toke up to Electric Ladyland in honor of Jimi. :)

Can't stand blues?! I found that very surprising. Are you not a fan of blues based classic rock? That would surely narrow things down wouldn't it?

I downloaded Dylan Live '75.....it was not the album I was thinking of, and I'm very disappointed. This is probably the worst album associated in any way with Bob Dylan I've ever heard. It all sounds so plastic and inpersonal, the complete opposite of what Dylan should be. Although The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carol could be considered an improvement, and some songs aren't complete travesties.

PinkFreud 09-18-2005 04:59 PM

i dislike joan baez, so i was a bit disappointed that mama, you been on my mind was marred by her presence. whatever. its an ok album.
