I know, but I had more. All the rep whoring and rep-centred discussion and rep-parties and such that went with it can go to hell, but I want my 30,000-something rep back.
That's a fair amount of rep. Interestingly, I have more rep now then I did back then.
I know, but I had more.

All the rep whoring and rep-centred discussion and rep-parties and such that went with it can go to hell, but I'd rather like my c.33,000 rep back.

NP Dio - Stand Up And Shout
Haha, wow...that's ridiculous. I just remember how high I was on the list hehe. Didn't realize there was such a discrepancy among those at the top though. I've had to work so hard to get back on teh first page :( But yes, the overt whoring and parties is good to be gone.

And yeah Jelle/Bartender, I agree mods don't get as much recgnition, but I think part of it it that it's easy to rep a person when they make some reat thread or post or whatever, whereas you can't really rep a mod on one specific post for what they do. You have to be looking for the person to rep rather than a post.

EDIT: Cain: Sweet, look forward to seeing your lists :p

Hey guys, I just got back from a one day ban. Any interesting threads while I was gone?

Cain 11-20-2005 05:46 PM

I think the reason I don't rep mods is because I take the fact that they already have rep for granted. When the system was implemented, we were utterly dependent on the mods to get stars back. So now I'm just like "well, he's got one more star than me, he doesn't need to be repped by me. He needs to rep me instead. :p"

I see now that this view of the MX world is flawed.

Cool suggestion. I will neither confirm nor deny this claim.

However, I will say that I wish I had all the rep points I had the first time around, because I could give anyone stars at the drop of a hat (or neg him/her for a significant amount).

Hehe, I made a post in Bass the other day that some of the kids didn't like, but the mod (Tryxx?) was like "eh, he has more rep than me I think he's a productive poster." Of course he also thought I used to be a mod possibly so eh :-x

Of course!

I think that whole occurence, which basically consisted of giving other people wealth of a sort only due to an expectation of having it reciprocated, and so on until we were all swimming in rep, would make for a good economics study.

BTW, it appears I was a thoroughly underrated user even back then: the highest I ever got, I think, was just a little over 7000 rep.
