I can't find any Calexico albums that have come out in 1999. :-/
That's cause it's an EP. But nice try trying to prove me wrong, faggot.
Yes! I would be very grateful if you did!
Oh, I'm not sure now ;)
Who plays lead guitar for CCR? Is it John Fogerty? Whoever it is, I notice alot of their solos sound similiar to Neil Young's electric solos. Same sloppyish distorted blues (that sounds almost as if they are playing faster than their skill level). Not that I don't love it.
Yeah, it's John Fogerty. He plays around with the melody during his solo, like Neil, but Neil seems to venture off more and explore more technical playing. |
yah it is a bit sloppy but that really is what makes it extremelly unique. i personally dont liek picture perfect guitar playing as it sounds as if its comign from a computer.
Exactly. 90% of the guitarists I listen to are sloppy as hell (compared to so called "virtuosos")...Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Neil Young, Robbie Krieger. I suppose David Gilmour is the cleanest sounding guitarist I listen to. |
The only EP I found was Convict Pool but that came out in 2004. :-/
Wasn't trying to prove you wrong. Edit: faggot :p |

Neil Young, I love the guy, but he has some unpleasant sounding solos. |
He is still a genius.
Which solos dont you like? |

I find David Gilmour soooo overrated. I mean sure the cleaness, the style and the solos but overall he doesn't play anything that complicated. I don't why people are awarding him the title "Greatest Guitarist" I mean how in the hell do they think that he is better than ANY of the other top 5 guitarists. (Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix and most of all Jeff Beck) |

I got one of my friends (huge LS fan who HATES Neil Young) yesterday to listin to On the Beach and after he listined to a few songs he turned off the CD player and said "You were right Neil Young kicks ***!". |

I just like David Gilmour because he played the most melodic solos by far. I think he was the best guitarist at conveying feelings through his music. He's not my favourite guitarist, but I just think his playing could express emotions that Pink Floyds lyrics sometimes couldn't. |
Oh man...Badmoon just destroyed one guy in the Jam Band thread.
|
That's a very good quality about him but I still wouldn't place him near a top 5 but that just my opinion. I don't even think he was the best guitarist that was a part of Pink Floyd.

This may be a double post, because my internet just messed up momentarily.. I'm not sure whether I like Gilmour of Barret more. I haven't heard enough of Barret to really judge them fairly. Although I think Barret was a genius when it came to creating soundscapes (is that the right word?) with the guitar. Gilmour was better at writing melodies. |

 I get into a bunch of fights in that thread. |
I'm looking to review an album today, but I'm not sure which I should review.
I'm thinking about reviewing Willy & The Poor Boys, but I'm not sure. Got any suggestions? http://rateyourmusic.com/user_albums/album_list_id_is_63799_and_list_type_is_owned |
Do you own all of those albums Badmoon??

Your opinion rights are suspended when you have a Metallica song as your username. Sorry, read the rules. |

dammit :upset: |
I started listening to Bowie yesterday, I enjoyed much more then i thought i would. I know Im gonna be listening to much more of him in the time to come.
Ziggy Stardust isnt my favorite song by him though, it just doesnt appeal to me. |
Ziggy Stardust kind of remeinds me of the last few bits of Stairway To Heaven (To be a rock and not to roll, etc.) Its just the rhythm or maybe the same chords
