Only thing I need to do now is name it. I name my basses after women in songs. I have Layla (Yamaha BBG5A) Tracy (Custom built... thing) and Mrs Robinson (Stagg acoustic). My ex gf said Buttercup but I'd like to reserve that for if I get a yellow bass. I'm gonna think it over
Hmm....

Donna?
Bernadette?
Rhonda?
Susie?
Kim?
Barbara Ann?
Penny Lane?

I bet my hubby's got a book at home with a list of songs with women's names. I'll ask when I get home.

*goes off to think some more* ;)

Joe man, that's just... wow. That's not something anyone should lie about. Period.

My week was pretty uneventful, except for when I bought my new bass of course. Right now I'm listening to a Willie Nelson cover of Bob Dylan's What Was it You Wanted. My buddy ripped the Bob Dylan 30th anniversary CD for me. It's wicked. It's mostly covers but Bob has a few songs on it too. The by far coolest song is a version of "My Back Pages" with Bob Dylan, Roger McGuinn, Tom Petty, Neil Young and George Harrison.

Tomorrow I head up to my buddy's cottage for a week of relaxing and fun (hopefully in the sun, but it's kinda grey outside). Planning this sucker was a pain in the *** (I hate it when people don't RSVP!) but it's all gonna be worth it! Then I have to move my arse into my house for school. It's cool though because my one roomie is a drummer/guitarist, I play bass (REALLY?! OMG!) and rythym guitar and one of my other roomies is learning guitar, plus has been recording/mixing music for a few years. How wicked is that?

For the record, its "Eileen". ;)

And I like "Jenny" (867-5309). That one's got my vote!

Radiobass81 08-29-2004 11:13 AM

I can't believe I forgot...

Roxanne (sp?).

"Roxanne (sp?), you don't have to put on a red light."

I love that song.

You can also call it "Girl from Ipanema" :p.

Although it's not really a women's name, you could also call it "Jaded".

ScorpSath 08-29-2004 01:17 PM
So... remember how I made that big thing about my ex having leukemia and how I was bummin it big time and all that jazz?

Well, on the good new side of things, she is fine.

On the bad news side of things, it was a lie. A lie to me. Just me and only me. Wow. How's that for well... I don't even know. Fucked up shit. :upset:

I went to long and mcquade to try out some warwicks(2 thumbs, 2 corvets, 1 streamer) ... good tone, but hard to slap. IMO Warwicks are very over rated.
I'm thinking Mary Jane after the Alanis Morisette song (I love Alanis and that song!) but I just worry people will think of it in terms of marijuana and I'll come off as a moronic "Isn't weed like cool" stoner kid.

Left Shoe 08-29-2004 03:29 PM

alanis morisette is lyrically amazing

jazzfunkboy 08-29-2004 03:30 PM

i just got herbie hancock's "head hunters" and Pat methany's "bright size life" (w/ jaco on bass). im happy right now :D

She has some anger problems to deal with though. Theres one song in particular but I cant think of the name of it.
alanis morisette is lyrically amazing
Possibly my most favourite artist ever and JLP is my favourite album. It'd seem a shame if I didn't name a bass after one of her songs on there. That's the only song by her I can think of that has a woman's name in it.

She sometimes sings about things she has no idea what they are, like "irony". None of what she says is actually ironic, which, incontrast, actually makes the whole song ironic, with an ironic twist.

If she did that on purpose, tho, she is truly mind bloggling (literally).

EDIT: I remembered another song!

I forgot her name, but the girl they sing about in the "Starbucks express drink" commercial :).

Either you watch to much VH1 or you have to much time to figure that out :thumb: Whats ironic is I was going to say that exact same thing(yes i watch to much VH1 )

jazzfunkboy 08-29-2004 03:41 PM

flea played on one of her songs, and laid down an amazing bassline. its on the cd "jagged little pill", i think its "you oughta know".

alienking84 08-29-2004 03:43 PM

^^I knew that in the back resources of my mind. I have no idea what song or cd he played though. So I wouldn't be able to tell you if you where right or not, which you probably are.

Left Shoe 08-29-2004 03:44 PM

i dont think thats flea , i saw her during recording and it wasnt flea playing

alienking84 08-29-2004 03:48 PM

Well I know Flea does one song with her.

jazzfunkboy 08-29-2004 03:49 PM

i just checked, it is that song. just listen to the bassist's tone and style. id say thats flea. he wrote it and performed it on the real recording, but he doesnt do it live for them.
