Hey i dont know this band very much but i heard there great so can someone tell me like there best 10 songs so i can download them and see what i think?
Heres my top ten list: 1. Learning To Live 2. A Change of Seasons 3. Metropolis 4. Space Dye Vest 5. The Glass Prison 6. Under A Glass Moon 7. Endless Sacrifice 8. Eruptomania 9. Wait For Sleep 10. Dance of Eternity |
This list will suprise most DT hardcore fans, but here it is:
1. Sacrificed Sons 2. Pull Me Under 3. As I Am 4. Erotomania 5. The Root of All Evil 6. Take the Time 7. The Glass Prison 8. Never Enough 9. In the Name of God 10. Beyond this Life |
Beyond this life is amazing...

Beyond this Life
Thats actually a pretty good list, In The Name of God and Beyond This Life are to of my favorite newer DT songs. |
James' vocals in BTL are fantastic.
He is the best part of SFAM in alot of places. |
Thats actually a pretty good list, In The Name of God and Beyond This Life are to of my favorite newer DT songs.
Thank you. I thought some people wouldn't like it because it has a few songs off of 'Octavarium' on there. Not too many hardcore DT fans liked that album. I think it's great. :thumb: |
James' vocals in BTL are fantastic.

James is a great singer. I don't get why people rip on him. Y'know? They say stuff like "Dream Theater is awesome, but James totally brings the band down for me." What the hell? |

Eevryone's got an opinion. :thumb: (nice avatar). |

DT Top 10:
1) Take The Time 2) Wait for Sleep/ Learning to Live 3) Scarred 4) Blind Faith 5) Space Dye Vest 6) A Change of Seasons 7) Lifting Shadows Off A Dream 8) Endless Sacrifice 9) Beyond This Life 10) The Silent Man |
I think the problem people have with James is just his voice, not him as a singer. I can sort of see why some people don't like his voice/accent, but he is a good singer nevertheless.
and I'll join in with the list making: 1) Pull Me Under 2) The Mirror 3) Space Dye Vest 4) Disappear 5) a Change of Seasons 6) Learning to Live 7) Blind Faith 8) Under a Glass Moon 9) Home 10) Metropolis Pt i |
My list (in no particular order):
1) The Spirit Carries On 2) Sacrred 3) Learning to Live 4) The Killing Hand 5) Trail of Tears 6) The Glass Prison 7) This Dying Soul 8) Octavarium 9) The Dance of Eternity 10) Lifting Shadows of a Dream |
my top 10:
1. Blind Faith 2. Hell's Kitchen 3. Space dye vest 4. Dissapear 5. Overture 1928/Strange deja vu 6. The great debate 7. Erotomania/Voices/The silent man 8. Learning to live 9. Take the time 10. Scarred |
too hard to make a top 10, also i only have: images and words, scenes from a memory and train of thought.
however, it is very interesting to note how very different everyone's lists are, yet they all seem to contain some images and words material, often near the top of the list, it truly is an orgasmic album, absolutely perfect in every way as far as im concerned. the only other album that believe to have such perfection(song order, song structure, contrasts; ie. ups and downs, and melody) is Blood Sugar Sex Magik by RHCP. |

But for me personally the only album I can say comes close to I&W is.... Scenes From A Memory. I would have to say overall they are my 2 favourite albums, they just display a range of emotions and moods like no others, and the songs are just flawless. |
1. Metropolis pt. 1
2. Learning to Live 3. Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence 4. A Change of Seasons 5. Octavarium 6. Take The Time 7. The Glass Prison 8. Beyond This Life 9. This Dying Soul 10. Overture 1928 / Strange Deja Vu |
I'll give an actual top 10 this time, mine was just an addition to the previous post.
1. Surrounded 2. Space dye vest 3. Beyond this life 4. Metropolis pt.1 5. Endless sacrifice 6.In the name of God 7. Another day 8. The answer lies within 9. This Dying soul 10.Misunderstood |

Peruvian Skies is an class DT song, maybe in my top 20 though, I think it's the best song on FII and they did it awsome live. |

I was shocked when i read somewhere that In The Name of God was the worst song on ToT. IMO, its the best song on the album along with stream of consciousness. |
Is it just me, or is Myung very underated, atleast in this thread (mind you, i couldnt be stuffed reading all 149 pages so i just skipped to the last after reading the first few so i may have missed something about this). In pizzapie88's avatar you can see him at work. He is an amazing bass player. He was voted the best metal bass player on these forums. Please tell me i'm not the only one with this opinion.

As I Am and Honor Thy Father are my least favourite tracks on TOT. Even thought they are both amazing anyway. The bass intro for As I Am is classic stuff. |

Myung is a class bass player. I don't know why people don't appreciate him like some do with Wooten etc. |

They are also my two favourite songs, where did you read this? And people in this thread seem to regard him as one of the most important factors in DT and an excellent songwriter. |

It also could have been one of my friends that said it. I'm not to sure, but i do remember it being said in some form. As for Myung, early on in this thread, everyone was talking about petrucci and portnoy and i was thinking, what about myung. Its good to hear that people do regard him as important in DT like i do! :thumb: |
Right, I can't blame you for not reading all 149 pages, but yeah, JM is much appreciated (my favourite bassist).
And welcome to the thread  |
1. In The Name Of God
2. Space Dye-Vest 3. The Mirror 4. As I Am 5. Misunderstood 6. The Glass Prison 7. Lie 8. Endless Sacrifice 9. The Great Debate 10. Voices For me... |

They ruined Lie and Pull Me Under by shortening the songs. They arent even that long compared to their other songs. Did they shorten they other songs. I didnt get to watch them yet.

And welcome to the thread
Lol thanks! Yeah I'm with you on that one. I love his sig Yamaha six string. I saw a similar five string (body, neck etc) that tickled my fancy. I love to be able to afford his actual sig bass, but unfortunatly im 16 and only work casually at a super market lol. His bass would be like a years wage for me  |
Could someone tell me what the time sig of YTSE Jam is please? Google/search isn't turning up anything. Thanking you.

I'm sorry to be off topic but that was the greatest white ninja ever.
