Still Life, because I think its more upbeat.
Also, compare Godhead to TBOTH. Very similar. |
I would say it's like a cross between Still Life and BWP, though some parts and songs are so outside the scope of normal Opeth, you really can't compare them.
It has the album feel of Still Life, yet the heaviness of the riffs of BWP. |
Ah, I thought it was a particularly bad definition of emo, but I decided to be nice. Is that Dredg upload the Orph EP, as if it is I can cancel the upload I've got going now...no matter how much you guys bought Ghost Reveries for, it's guaranteed to be a better deal than the UK. I buy most of my CDs second hand off amazon, and they still cost about $10 or $12 on average. The prices in the stores here are just completely out of control. Just out of interest, what Opeth album do you guys think it sounds most like so far?
I hear some stuff on it that's right out of SL or BWP, but a lot of it sounds different than anything else they've done, in my opinion. Edit: Creeping, we said almost the same thing at almost the same time :amaze: |
I don't think BTW had much influence in this album.
I do however believe MAYH had some say. There are parts in GoP and TBOTH that are straight out of When and April Ethereal. Does anyone agree? |

I guess the acoustic parts are kind of like MAYH, but I'm not to sure about the heavy stuff.
EDIT: Nice User-title Iron Man. |
Round about 2:20 in TBOTH, it sounds almost identical to the verse part in When.
Check it out! |
I cant wait to get ghost reveries I couldnt find anywhere to download it so instead I am gonna buy it.
I have the rest of opeth albums might aswell complete my collection. |
This cd is more like older Opeth I think... Still Life, MAYH.

how many mb?
|
100 mb
|
I always rip at an unnecessary 320kb/s, so if I uploaded an Opeth album it would be about 170 mb :x
|
100 mb
my parents will kill me for this... but what shall i do... i hope i won't be at home when the next internet-payments will arrive. /download |
Its worth it believe me...

To me, the album sounds like what would happen if Dam nation were a death metal album.

man that's what I was thinking when listening to tracks like "Atonement" and "Hours Of Wealth." My favorite is "The Baying Of The Hounds," I just get this depressing and epic feeling whenever I listen to it. |
What an amazing album. My favorites are Beneath the Mire and Reverie/Harlequin Forest. My least favorite is Atonement for some reason...but overall it's easily my favorite Opeth.
|
Harlequin Forest has really grown on me today. I think it has my favorite Opeth vocal performance of all time.
|
So where do Reverie and Harlequin Forest split or are they considered one song all together?
|
So where do Reverie and Harlequin Forest split or are they considered one song all together?
I consider it to switch to Harlequin Forest with the "They are the trees...Of Harlequin Forest" line. |
I found something odd on opeth.com. Atonement is listed as "5:20" long, a full 1:08 shorter than the album, and Reverie/Harlequin Forest is listed as 1:08 longer on the site. The ending of Atonement is really supposed to be the beginning of Reverie...a little bit of a mess up, eh? Doesn't really affect the album too much though
|
Atonement is 5:20 on my CD player.
The 1:08 is just a little lead-in to Reverie/Harlequin Forest that happens inbetween the tracks. |

So now you do it. Right after I just went out and bought it. |
That segment is actually negative time on the next track (Reverie/Harlequin Forest.) So, yeah, that space is just a little interlude between the two tracks that introduces R/HF and concludes Atonement.

I never listen to CDs on CD players and computers don't recognize this negative time concept. So I just now got this... I've seen reviews online actually giving Atonement lower scores for having this 1:08 tacked on the end. |
Yeah I was listening to mine and there was like a bonus track between 4 and 5 (I think those are the numbers).. It was a sweet intro to the next song.
|
I think that little counter track is "Reverie".
|
I think that little counter track is "Reverie".
You just could be right. |
Yeah, thats probably right.
|
^He definately is, the Opeth.com lists track 5 as 12:39, the combined total of that interlude and Harlequin forest. I just can't figure why the distributed cds would have the negative time track spacing as opposed to grouping the songs by the correct names.
Anyway, watch this post for my CEP2.0'd version of Reverie/Harlequin forest rejoined together. If requested I'll mix down the shortened version of Atonement and upload that as well. |
