Yeh, hence the name "Afraid to shoot strangers". Nearly all of the war songs by Maiden have a desperation type theme: The Trooper "As I lay forgotten and alone, without a tear I draw my parting Groan". The Aftermath "I'm left alone asking why". Blood on the Worlds hand "There's chaos across the border, and one day it could be happening to us". Paschendale "On his dying word he prays, tell the world of Paschendale". And there are more...

yup
plus blood on the world's hands is a great song
I had to compare a play in drama lesson to another thing (film, song, etc.)
i chose that and got an A
true story...

ashman 11-25-2004 04:42 AM

Cool, it's nice to see Maiden helping people in their education. We never got anything like that when I was at school, we had to do what the teachers wanted us to do, which was so **** ing boring...

Riva 11-25-2004 04:55 AM

Yes, I chose 2 Minutes To Midnight to analyse for this stupid poetry analysis. Got an A as well. I related it to everything from government conspiracies to nuclear winter.

Lord Abortion 11-25-2004 05:28 AM

you can relate maiden to everything because they cover so many different subjects
alot of my knowlege of history comes from maiden
...well maiden and blackadder episodes

Still life, Blood on the worlds hands, Childhoods end, No prayer for the dying and Killers(i dont hear it mentioned that often...)

Lord Abortion 11-25-2004 06:09 AM

killers rules
i've done it again!!

GurS 11-25-2004 08:01 AM

total eclipse is FAR too underated

killers and drifter are for too under-rated from that album. I personally like gangland (shock!). for me, to tame a land is overrated. Flash of the Blade is under rated, only the good die young and the clairvoyant is underrated, hooks in you, judas be my guide, the fugitive, judgement of heaven, out of the silent planet, the thin line between love and hate, face in the sand, electric journey man.

the more observent of you will have noticed that was in album order

darkmetallica 11-25-2004 08:46 AM

do they do ANY ENGLISH tours

JACKROXYOU 11-25-2004 09:16 AM

Powerslave is an awsome album. I lost it for years then found it. It was one of my happiest days

ashman 11-25-2004 11:14 AM

Underrated eh? I think the songs that Gur said, and others like The sea of Madness, the Prophecy, Public Enema Number One, Run Silent Run Deep, Chains Of Misery, Look For the Truth, Como Estais Amigos, The Nomad. Those are all I can think of.
do they do ANY ENGLISH tours
What do you mean?!?!?!

Arucard 11-25-2004 11:16 AM
do they do ANY ENGLISH tours
no, they have never toured england, its not like they live hear or anything

and underated songs i think are revelations, murder in the rue morgue and killers. (basically anything of the first two albums except 'iron maiden' and 'wrathchild.'

ashman 11-25-2004 11:37 AM
no, they have never toured england, its not like they live hear or anything...
GurS 11-25-2004 01:50 PM

sanctuary they play quite a bit, too.

and i really don't like chains of misery

PoliticallyIncorrectMetalhead 11-25-2004 02:07 PM

Murders in the Rue Morgue, Purgatory

GurS 11-25-2004 02:18 PM

I think Ides of March is underrated, it's probably the 2nd best intrumental after Losfer Words (Big 'Orra)

It's very similar to the Intro to Wasted Years...

I saw that Borat thing when it was on TV. I was really scared by the fact that they were singing along with him.

does anyone know... is age of innocence about the farmer tony martin?

(quick expl. U.K farmer who was sent to prison for shooting two burglars, one of whom died, very well publicised english court case whilst dod was being written,)
lines like:
"you can't even protect yourselves ... even in your own home"
made me think of that...
