But you can't deny that Josh Eppard (that's the drummer right?) is a great drummer.

Storm In A Teacup 07-27-2006 09:48 AM

I'll admit the drumming is fairly simple, but Josh interlocks with the rest of the band perfectly.

BillyxRansom 07-27-2006 10:39 AM
it's wicked cool. I can play, i think almost every coheed track. Not form start to finish, but a good amount do be able to claim i can play the song.

The only songs i can play start to finish without needing to check a tab or something are..

Light and the Glass (ftw)
including the solo at the end?

TMA 07-27-2006 08:17 PM

... what is this blasphemy I am hearing about the drumming being simple?
Neverender?
The Crowing?
Both of the Good Apollo Tracks?

Are you guys kidding me?

Fish 07-30-2006 12:08 AM
including the solo at the end?
well when we played it live we made the solo like 5 minutes, it was insane.

The drumming isn't easy, or hard, it just fits with the song and makes it that much better and thats all that really matters.

TheBigMachine 07-30-2006 01:57 AM

Neverender? Yes. That's not all that hard, it's kind of off-beat though
The Crowing? This on the other hand, is hard. Ghost noting it up on the hats, with open and closed patterns, subtle but hard to get right bass drums and stealthy changes all make it fairly difficult.
And Im unsure what your referring to when you say the Good Apollo tracks. Theres only Apolo I on the GA album...
Edit: Wait, my mistake, its hiding with Willing Well III....

Dice 07-30-2006 02:25 AM

Meh, I really like these guys.

The singer has a unique voice, but it's got me hooked.

yourstruly 07-30-2006 02:56 AM

how did Coheed and Cambria end up in Pop-punk?, they're like metal or somethng aren't they?

TheBigMachine 07-30-2006 04:48 AM

Hardly. They dont really have a genre.

Snowball Fight 07-30-2006 05:30 AM

lol genre

TheBigMachine 07-30-2006 06:24 AM

Fill me in on the joke.

Dice 07-30-2006 07:36 AM

IMO they're far from metal. But then again I've only heard one album...

The Crowing 07-30-2006 10:14 AM

They tend to fit in with the new wave of "Prog-punk". Bands like CoCa, Circa Survive, TREOS, Dredg, Gatsbys. Etc.

Fish 07-30-2006 04:54 PM

coheed and cambria are not pop punk. The majority of the singles that have been released are more on the pop-punk side, but overall, these guys dont belong here at all.

Like when you listen to tracks like The Final Cut, you really hear the blues influence, and then tracks like the crowing, you hear the metal side. They really cover a few genres, pop punk definately not being the best place to put them, but who really cares, the fans will come here to talk and discuss, and thats all that matters.

AZNMan#2 07-30-2006 06:02 PM

And a good bit of Pop-Punk like CoCa.

TMA 07-30-2006 07:19 PM

Are you sure you're not confusing Neverender with Godsend Conspirator? Cause I know that one is simply, it just comes in at an odd timing until you really get into the groove of the song. Neverender, I believe, has a fairly difficult intro, at least.
And I was definately right about the GA songs, wasn't I?

Fish 07-30-2006 08:47 PM

guitar > drums

so.. yeah :)

TMA 07-30-2006 11:05 PM

Pffffft. I play guitar, I have been for over 4 years now, I'm quite fairly good though not AMAZING, but I have to say that drums are a lot more fun to play than guitar. That's just my personal opinion though.
However, while I defend Josh Eppard's skill to the death, I have to say they have better guitars and bass than they do drums.
But, while Josh may not be insanely fast or anything, he is most definately one of the most creative drummers of our time.

Fish 07-31-2006 01:55 PM

meh, im a songwriter so I prefer guitar.

Claudio is the ultimate songwriter of our time :p

Storm In A Teacup 07-31-2006 01:57 PM

I'm a songwriter (at least I like to think I am :p) and I start writing stuff on keyboard and bass first then switch to guitar and mess with the drum machine.

And yes, Claudio is the premier songwriter of our time most definitely.

Fish 07-31-2006 01:58 PM

I need to get a computer so i can record stuff and get it on this site, but I wont have it till next week at the earliest now :(

so..

The Crowing > Welcome home

cobert 07-31-2006 02:00 PM

Yes, that is correct.

Fish 07-31-2006 02:01 PM

i just thought i'd throw that out there :p

Ai, ai, ai...somewhat agree? That's a tough one actually for me. I may go with "The Crowing".

Fish 07-31-2006 02:05 PM

exactly :smoke:

Storm In A Teacup 07-31-2006 02:21 PM

People complain that forums are meant for arguing, but it's nice when we can all agree on stuff and be nice to each other instead of the alternative. :)

Dead Star 07-31-2006 06:20 PM

I prefer Welcome Home

AZNMan#2 07-31-2006 06:22 PM
I prefer Welcome Home
Stop trying to be different J. Conform.

What do you guys think is the most epic Coheed song?

They have way too many for me to choose from. I'm liking IKSSE:3 atm, but it changes from time to time.

Fish 07-31-2006 06:38 PM

i bet it doesnt change... and that its always been IKSOSE...

anyhoo... lets try another one.

Favor House Atlantic > Blood Red Summer

AZNMan#2 07-31-2006 07:04 PM

That's a given. BRS is awesome nonetheless. I love little guitar riff going on in the background of the verse.
