Yeah I have to try them out, i was just seeing what others thought. i think im gonna go to GC tommorow and try out a whole bunch of cymbals and narrow it down to a few.

I know other have brought it up long ago, but I just bought a Zildjian A Sweet ride 21".....absolutely amazing..there were four at the store...some were..eh...but this one was amzing...amazing attack and warm wash (i picked the lowest pitched of the four which also had the best bell and ping..actually and wash)..THIS CYMBAL IS AMAZING..you want a versatile cymbal for anything....this is it

saars 03-18-2006 09:48 PM

^^ I totally agree, but now I think I've ran into a problem with my ride. When looking closely under the ride, I can see a thin crack, about 1/4 of an inch, but the crack didn't reach the other side. This might have happened because I started crashing the ride at my first band practice, but I'm really not sure. So, should I just stop crashing my ride? (I'm sorry, this might be a really rhetorical question, but maybe there was something else that cause it to crack...)
in your opinion, should i buy a 20" a medium ride for $200, or save up a little more for a K/K custom?
I hated the A Medium ride, WAYYY too washy, but thats my opinion. I would defiently save up for a KC Ride (try the KC Session, I've got one and its awesome).

Try them both first before making a decision.

Hey everyone, it's been a while since I've been here.....

Right now I'm definetely attracted to the idea of adding a china to my setup, but I would need a very versatile china. It would probably need to be something smaller, and not too loud. As for actual sound qualities, most importantly I want it to blend. Any suggestions would be great. Oh, and I don't have a big budget at all.

Thanks!

Drum Phil 03-21-2006 05:37 AM

14" HHX Evolution mini china.

Im considering a 17" Paiste rude thin crash. Opinions?

styler 03-21-2006 10:41 AM

i think it would stand out a good bit more than your other crashes phil.

Drum Phil 03-21-2006 10:44 AM

Perhaps. Ive had another change of plan now.

styler 03-21-2006 10:52 AM

Drum Phil 03-21-2006 10:57 AM

styler 03-21-2006 03:48 PM

16" 17" 18" HHX Evolution crash's
21" hh raw bell dry ride
10" HHX evolution splash
18" HHX china
14" K custom dark hi-hats
11" HH icebell
2x12" HHX evo splashes as aux-pedal hats.

looking for a left side china and maybe a few more splashes to meld with that.
also a second pair of 14" hats

hoping the china to be about the same volume as the 18" hhx china

i was also thinking about a 14" mini-china.

any ideas guys?

spirit 03-22-2006 02:51 PM

20" A Custom china maybe? A brighter contrast?

7" and 10" Evo splashes. Maybe a 10" or 12" from the new Legacy range?

HHX Mini Chinese.

VTDS_xx 03-22-2006 03:10 PM

Drum Phil: Paiste 20" Signature Full Crash. Amazing.

Drum Phil 03-22-2006 06:11 PM

Way out of my price range

spirit 03-22-2006 06:31 PM
Way out of my price range
£193

Nope. Even I can't help you this time

On a seperate note, I have a real craving for one of the new Zildjian Constantinoples.

22" K Constantinople Hi Bell Thin Ride, Low.

*creams*

Funny thing is, for the price they'll be going for, I could get a real Vintage K, made in Istanbul 40 or 50 years ago. Silly Zildjian.

To give this post a point, beyond me having an orgasm, is there another ride out there with similar qualities to this one, like an Istanbul or a Bosphorus? Shame it probably won't look as cool. I'll say this for Zildjian, they always make them look good.

Ethan. 03-22-2006 08:52 PM

Will someone please tell me the sound characterisics of a wuhan traditional ride, and the differences between the medium and medium-heavy one?

Ethan. 03-23-2006 06:57 PM

I was looking forward to some informative replies...
I was looking forward to some informative replies...
Me too. I've never played Wuhan stuff. It's rare in the UK. But hopefully someone will notice there are new replies to the thread and answer your question. And maybe mine.
Will someone please tell me the sound characterisics of a wuhan traditional ride, and the differences between the medium and medium-heavy one?
the medium will have more wash to it and the heavier one will have more ping to it.

Ethan. 03-23-2006 07:30 PM

Thanks! Do you know what a Wuhan ride sounds like in general?

Sabian4015 03-23-2006 11:39 PM

Ok, looking for a splash. 8" or 10". Just an overall good splash, any price range. But cheap+good quality=perfect!:thumb:

FockerTheLopper 03-25-2006 10:00 AM

Wuhan - cheap, very bright and trashy.

Zildjian A - Great overall splash veristile splash with body
Zildjian A custom - Transparent qualities, would be good as a smaller one for the double splash effect(hit one after another 16th notes, small then big)
Zildjian K - Dry and musical(for lack of a better word) they really sing
Zildjian K custom - Never heard them played but like all other K customs I can say that they're great
Zildjian Oriental - Very loud and raw, heavy too

Sabian HHX - Great cymbals, might be the best on the market, hard to find though
Sabian paragon - Haven't seen these talked about too much recently... Great splash, very distinct, if you listen it sounds transparent but it still has body, hard to describe
Sabian AAX or AA(Played it at sam ash can't remember which it was) - Papery sounding with good attack and decay. Horrible tone

Paiste Sig - Great great great. Overpriced

Istanbul, Bosphorus(may be the best) go to www.cymbalsonly.com and check them out for yourself!

lilphilw 03-25-2006 10:18 AM

hey im looking for a zildjian crash 16". Just cracked my other one  so looking for another. The most i want to spend is around 80$ thanks

HeLLmO 03-25-2006 10:20 AM

u have no hope of buying a good zildjian cymbal under 80 bucks, srry. buy a paiste PST5 instead, that should be under 80 bucks, or near to it. if u look on ebay u MAY be able to find something, but don't settle for anything with planet Z, ZBT,ZXT,ZXT titanium or Z custom in the name of the cymbal, because the PST5 will blow them all away

FockerTheLopper 03-25-2006 10:28 AM

Go with ebay, low level cymbals aren't worth it. Maybe save up and buy a good new one. I don't see why the most you want to spend is 80 if your serious about drumming.

lilphilw 03-25-2006 10:33 AM

The thing is i have like 60 now and i dont have a job which doesnt help. My crash is pretty dented up and pretty much need one as soon as possible.

Get a wuhan, don't know why you only want zildjian, not like your endorsed by them. If you were they'd be free. Wuhans are great cymbals and they're affordable.

lilphilw 03-25-2006 12:02 PM

ok thanks a lot. I only want a zildjian crash because the rest of my set is zildjan.
