i would never get a tatoo of a band on myself. just get a bumber sticker or something.

the2stranger 07-13-2005 10:36 AM
i asked b4 but i forgot to check what it means, what does pwn mean?
pwned
A corruption of the word "Owned." This originated in an online game called Warcraft, where a map designer misspelled "owned." When the computer beat a player, it was supposed to say, so-and-so "has been owned."

Instead, it said, so-and-so "has been pwned."

It basically means "to own" or to be dominated by an opponent or situation, especially by some god-like or computer-like force.
"Man, I rock at my job, but I still got a bad evaluation. I was pwned."

there ya go :)

I've been thinking about getting the 'O'tattoo too, but the money deaprtment isn't really on my side these days :(.

----
I bought my tickets for the Opeth gig on sept 11. in Holland :D, but does anyone know IF there's a band supporting them, and if so, which band?
there is no info about it on their site.

whatduffhuck7 07-13-2005 11:41 AM
there is no info about it on their site.
speaking about there site. that is the best band official site on the web i think. ive been to many and opeth has the most info and anything else you wanted ot know about them on there site.

the2stranger 07-13-2005 11:47 AM

Opeth has a grreat site.
all sites where Mark Bredius is webmaster of, are good sites too ( Porcupine Tree, Dream Theater, The Flowerkings, and a bunch more)

but I guess there will be no one supporting them, cause on my ticket there stands 'Opeth'
and that's all, not Opeth and supporting act or something.
so it will be an all Opeth night methinks :)

PeEpHoLe_10 07-13-2005 06:06 PM

^^
Oh, i wouldn't be so sure man. I went to see Mudvayne a couple of weeks back. On the ticket it just said Mudvayne, but they had an opening act. A really ****ty one, but still.

Kaiwaz 07-14-2005 06:52 PM
Yeah, that's pretty stupid. To love Opeth because of how different they sound and then complain because no one else sounds like them.
I've never typed anything like that ever. :thumb:

I enjoy their music.

Maneatingbrick 07-14-2005 07:23 PM
Buy it regardless. It is amazing and I was there.
Is it true they played demon of the fall?

relliK 07-15-2005 07:40 PM

They did, but it's not on the DVD.

denboy 07-15-2005 08:04 PM

Wich is a shame.. Something must've gone wrong with the equipment.. Maybe some of the soundguys actually thought the concert was over?

relliK 07-15-2005 08:09 PM

None of those.Opeth's record lable didnt own the rights to any of their material prior to Blackwater Park, so the DVD was limited to Blackwater Park and the D+D albums.

Can anyone explain this?

Why should the material on previous ablums be excluded because of a label change? They are still Opeth's songs, Opeth can play them in concert, and the old label didn't write their music. It only makes sense that the music would be the choice of the band regardless of what label they are signed to.

So now if they do another DVD, sorry everything pre-Roadrunner!

PS- 47 more day until the new album.

i know, some record deal and companys are very moronic and a lot of bands get pushed around too much by their labelers. they should be able to play whatever they want. and thanks for the reminder about the new album. i forgot it is coming out so soon :thumb:

The Cynic 07-16-2005 11:51 AM

did anyone else see them at Sounds Of the Underground?

the2stranger 07-16-2005 12:03 PM

no, did you?

Roadrunner will probably buy the rights to their older material.

Skit 07-16-2005 01:58 PM

Can anyone reccomend me some songs for someone just getting into opeth?
I've only heard Demon Of The fall and The Drapery Falls and the both sound amazing :D

I'd prefare songs with more "singing" than screaming but Im not too fussed either way.

Thanks guys :thumb:
no, did you?
Yeah. it sucked though because we got rained on so they had to cut the time off and they only got to play Demon of the Fall and Deliverence. But it was still worth it because I got a Ghost Reveries shirt and pics with them.

Were you at the Dallas show too?! Haha...there was a motley little group of us Opeth fans there. Does anyone know where the hell Martin Lopez was?! Gene Hoglan ended up having to sub for him...he did amazingly, of course, because he's the best metal drummer on the planet, but I'm a huge fan of Martin and was bummed out that I didn't get to see him play (AND that they didn't get to do any Dam nation stuff :( ).

You live in the dallas area as well? where exactly do you live? I live in the Colony so if your near we can maybe hangout. Yeah I was pretty bummed that Martin wasn't there but at least I got a pic with him! :D
