If that's like The Rolling Stones thing, where you're getting tickets behind the band, where you can't really see the stage, then I'd advise against it. Unless you're a really massive Cream fan, I don't really see the point in getting tickets to a gig where you can't see the band or the stage, especially given how much you're probably going to be paying, personally.
I don't really see the point if I can't see the band at all either, but I think better seats will go on sale on Monday. I'm going to wait for better seats, but I really need to go to the show.

JonG 09-15-2005 05:34 PM

jpj : Don't know if you remember this but I'm downloading Sailor right now, after not ever finding it around here.

If you want me to send via e-mail I would be glad to.

thickasabrick 09-15-2005 05:39 PM

I'm listening to The Doors live at Hollywood Bowl...somehow the names got all mixed up though, I was expecting When the Music's Over and I got Horse Latitudes, and then I expected Alabama Song and I got Light My Fire. Oh well...

Yeah, I noticed that.

I was like WTF When The Music's Over is the first song that they played? Hardly.

Glitterati 09-15-2005 05:48 PM

I have never actually heard Horse Latitudes.

thickasabrick 09-15-2005 05:58 PM
Yeah, I noticed that.

Haha yeah I thought that too when I saw WTMO first. I notice Light My Fire takes the place of both Alabama Song and Celebration of the Lizard. I am mad about that. I wanted to hear Celebration of the Lizard.

edit- Horse Latitudes scares the hell out of me when I'm stoned. Even when I'm not stoned.

Ya sorry bout that. If your talking bout the one I mailed; I messed up all the names some how and totally forgot to fix it because I'm not fond of that album.

I think I listened to one or two songs on that album and decided not to put in on MP3 which means I don't mess with it at all.

Lunch 09-15-2005 06:01 PM
No idea. Right now, the only Cream tickets avaliable are right behind the stage. I've never been to MSG for a concert, but my brother who has been said that the stage had a backing, so I wouldn't be able to see anything. Should I still get the tickets?
So since they aren't selling seats in view of the stage, many tickets will be available on Monday.

Broken Arrow 09-15-2005 06:02 PM

I was about to say that. Definetly one of the scariest songs I'ved heard. I love that keyboard effect thing Ray has going on.
So since they aren't selling seats in view of the stage, many tickets will be available on Monday.
Where'd you find out that there not selling tickets in view of the stage?

Lunch 09-15-2005 06:08 PM

You just said the only Cream tickets available were right behind the stage.

robo2448 09-15-2005 06:09 PM
You just said the only Cream tickets available were right behind the stage.
Oh. I thought you had seen some link that the only ones going on sale were behind the stage. Right now, that's all that's avaliable, but my guess is that there were better seats avaliable earlier in the week, and more better seats will (hopefully) be avaliable on Monday.

Lunch 09-15-2005 06:10 PM

Oh, I see what you mean. If they sell all the tickets by Monday I'll kill somebody.

robo2448 09-15-2005 06:11 PM
Oh, I see what you mean. If they sell all the tickets by Monday I'll kill somebody.
As will I. They couldn't do that though.

Understandable. The Doors weren't the greatest sounding band live, a lot of their live music is inconsistant and of fairly poor quality. I love watching their Europe 68 DVD though.

Jacaranda 09-15-2005 06:15 PM

Speaking of the Doors I picked up a biography of Ray Manzarek called "My Life With The Doors" but apparently the other members said he lies in it alot. (According to the Librarian at my school who told me when I was getting the book.)

Broken Arrow 09-15-2005 06:19 PM

Yeah, apparently John Densmore's is better. I'd still like to read the one you have though.

Glitterati 09-15-2005 06:23 PM

Supposedly my school library has "No-one gets out of here alive." I think I might wanna try to find that, I hear it's the best Doors biography.

Also, for Communications, I get to write a little about George Harrison!

np: Pink Floyd - Hey You

He just likes to exaggerate everything, he may have lied a little.

I wouldn't mind reading Densmores. He's by far the least interesting member though, and he didn't have anything near as close of a relationship with Jim as Ray, or even Robbie did. Him and Jim didnt' really get along. I'd wanna hear Jims version.

edit- Life, Death, Legend is the best Jim Morrison biography. It's most likely not the best all around Doors bio though because it mainly focuses on Jim. But it's definitely the best biography I've ever read.

ATM 09-15-2005 06:27 PM

 At EMH's user title

NP: Queen - Death On Two Legs

(thanks to you guys  )

Jacaranda 09-15-2005 06:28 PM

Ya already Ray's sounds sorta bias. He calls John a "worry-wart" but in a real negative way (the context of why he said it), and he sounds sorta like an ego manic.

Well John was too uptight. He developed a skin condition (rash) out of fear and worrying about Jim. It went away the day after Jim died. How about that. Ray is quite a character though, he sure likes the legend of The Doors.

I beleive he was influential in founding punk

Where are you getting this info about the Cream tickets? I would kill for any up to around 125$, maybe more, depending on the seats.
I thought they were all 500$, so I didn't even think about it. I think I will go for them too :)

Jim Morrison?

Jim Morrison?
Ah, no, I quoted the wrong one, I meant Ray Manzarek

Ticketmaster. I don't think my parents would let me spend 129.50, which are the 2nd cheapest seats.

jpj 09-15-2005 07:28 PM

To whoever asked: The George Harrison album is called Extra Texture.

To JonG: Yes, please :) If you want anything http://rateyourmusic.com/user_albums/album_list_id_is_82421_and_list_type_is_owned

Slightly more on topic: I haven't read any Doors biographies, but I did read Searching for the Sound by Phil Lesh, which was very good. For some reason I respect the Dead even more after reading it.

Bah, I just asked my parents and they were'nt any help (meh, they'll have it on DVD anyway, and it costs so much to go to NYC, blah blah blah) The worst part is that they are right

123 to respecting the Grateful Dead more

Lunch 09-15-2005 07:37 PM

Ah ha, your parents suck.

robo2448 09-15-2005 07:40 PM

My mom said that if I didn't get Cream tickets, then I could go see Bruce Springsteen, so I'll get to see a great concert no matter what. I'll be pissed if I don't get Cream tickets though. It would be awesome if I could go see both.

Lunch 09-15-2005 07:41 PM

That would be like running off a cliff for me.

Walrus Gumboot 09-15-2005 07:41 PM
Ah ha, your parents suck.
If I had a ride and someone to go with that know what they were doing, then I'd definatly go for it

Both of those are in short supply, though

Wow, Tales of Brave Ullyses live. Wow.

Lunch 09-15-2005 07:43 PM

I really hope I can get tickets for Cream.

I'll listen to Live Cream I and II tonight in anticipation.

Broken Arrow 09-15-2005 07:52 PM

I hope at least one of you get to go.

I don't need anything. It's cool.

Does anybody else think that rateyourmusic.com is incredibly slow?

pohl_56 09-15-2005 08:00 PM

Aright. I know that probably very few of you like Cheap Trick but I really need an album of them. I have been craving one for so long now its unreal. Can anybody help a guy out and send the file out?

Walrus Gumboot 09-15-2005 08:01 PM

The Pizza Tapes should have been e-mailed to y'all

I forgot to write that it is .wma, though

Broken Arrow 09-15-2005 08:02 PM

I just got that, thanks.

robo2448 09-15-2005 08:04 PM
I hope at least one of you get to go.
That'd be awesome if we both went. I think if we get on ticketmaster the minute the tickets go on sale, we shouldn't have a problem. I'll be at school when they go on sale though, so I'll have to teach my computer-retarded mom how to use ticketmaster.

Lunch, are you planning on getting the cheapest seats?
