you ever get what job youre getting squared away? make sure you dont let them talk to you into goin 'electronic aptitude' or 'general aptitude' or any of that bullpoop. make sure you have an exact position.

Glad you asked that. I saw my recruiter yesterday to give him my form showing that I am correctable to 20/20. Now I guess the form has to be sent to the surgeon general to be approved. I have no doubt it'll be approved, but he did tell me that he 'secured' the general skill area and that I'll pick my job at BMT. I'm kind of worried about the liaisons at BMT just showing me a few jobs that they need to fill regardless of what I really want.

hmmm idk, you might be getting ****ed over. if he truly means YOU will be picking your job at basic then thats all good, but it sounds more like youve been given 'general aptitude'. which essentially means that they can, as josh so kindly put it, **** you in the *** however they want to. they can toss you into whatever job they need to be filled. which might work out well, but most of the time you end up with a **** job you dont want, and thats no bueno when its going to be your job for at least the next 4 years.

i learned all of this from my dads friend who put in his 20 years, made it to SSgt and all that, so i know its credible. id just make sure with your recruiter that YOURE actually going to be picking a job, and that youre not just getting tossed to the wolves with the 'general aptitude' ****.

on a diff note, i passed my 2 PAST test. this areas master sgt wanted to see me do it in person, because yknow people with criminal historys just gotta be put under the microscope at every turn. so ive now been guaranteed a spot in spec ops, combat controller. pretty confident ill be able to make it through the 1-2 year training for it, but i hear theres a lot of washouts. im getting beast though, im not worried about it. you just get reassigned if you fail, almost always to whatever non spec ops position you want.

yeah dude, high wash out rates. PJ has like a 90%, but I don't think I'm gonna do that - I'm all about TACP and SERE right now. I'll probably try for PJ, but I don't want 4 years of training, haha. I know that's a bad reason, but its true
