For fans of more melodic/whiney less chaotic screamo I really recommend Fire Team Charlie. Simply amazing shit.

whiteminority 12-08-2010 02:52 AM

I like FTC for a lil bit, but they kinda got old quick. Also that Rusty dude from Toru Okada is in that band I believe, and fuck that dude.

Eighty8Percent 12-08-2010 03:38 AM

Nah he wasn't. I'm from Austin (where Toru Okada is from) FTC is from Houston. I've met Rusty once, i think, and he seemed like an okay dude? He catches a lot of shit on the internets tho, I've noticed. Why don't you like him if you don't mind me asking?

I don't know man, I find myself liking screamo that a lot of people hate (i.e. Toru Okada & FTC), but it might also just be local pride. I'm gay for anything that comes out of Texas. I know I'll get flamed for saying it, but I like Saetia more than Hot Cross :p
88percent are u in matsuri or deers? hah
I wish man, I'm just a history major at a shitty school. About to bomb a few finals actually.

Definitely agree with this, Saetia gives off a much more rawer quality than Hot Cross which I love.

nah man, saetia is def better, only hot cross release i really like is fair trades

HighandDriving 12-08-2010 11:30 AM

The thing is that both are phenomenal.

If you said Off Minor > Hot Cross then there would be beef.

He ripped like 30 people off (myself included) on some Toru Okada shirts about 5 years ago on the website viva la vinyl. He then ducked off the site for a while, and then came back and when was called out about it called everyone who he ripped off "you dumb ass marks." I'm sure irl he's nice and all, but that was really shitty.

christsimpson 12-08-2010 11:52 AM

FTC rules. Rusty is a knobhead though. never mind the Palatka shirt ripoff (and apparently Toru Okada ripoff, which I didn't even know about), but he is a straight up fucking wanker. Total Abuse can fuck off forever.

read their blogs. they are obviously not "nice irl".

whiteminority 12-08-2010 12:06 PM

That's right he was in Total Abuse, not Fire Team Charlie. God Total Abuse is shit, talk about retro hype bullshit.

Off Minor > Hot Cross

kitsch 12-08-2010 01:30 PM

off minor is hyped way too much. i loved them when i first got into them but anymore the only record i really like is problematic courtship

whiteminority 12-08-2010 01:41 PM

you people are fucking ridiculous. off minor is like what saetia should have been, and is much better than hot cross as well.

heat death of the universe is a perfect album.

SeaAnemone 12-08-2010 01:44 PM

agreed whiteminority

I like Some Blood just as much though

christsimpson 12-08-2010 01:46 PM

Saetia are better

Indian Summer are better than Saetia

lol

Hep Kat 12-08-2010 01:48 PM

i like these bands

witchxrapist 12-08-2010 01:57 PM

I prefer Hot Cross to Off Minor and Off Minor to Saetia.

Fight me at a show.

kitsch 12-08-2010 02:06 PM

saetia are my fav out of that family

christsimpson 12-08-2010 02:15 PM

sayshu are the obvious best

kitsch 12-08-2010 05:16 PM

its pronounced saysha

SeaAnemone 12-08-2010 05:27 PM

they were my gateway band into screamo along with CTTS so there's that

kitsch 12-08-2010 05:37 PM

orchid was my first foray into screamo, followed closely by saetia and ctts.

how unoriginal of an introduction

christsimpson 12-08-2010 05:44 PM

Swing Kids here

kitsch 12-08-2010 05:54 PM

that band rules, but after three penny opera justin pearson turned into a douche

christsimpson 12-08-2010 05:57 PM

I have no idea what you're talking about. I like all Pearson bands I've heard. I'm not too big a fan of people that actually have a "public persona", and I will gladly admit that his projects usually are more about the shock value than the actual music, but whatever. I like the bands. especially Struggle and Swing Kids.

xMalcolmXx 12-08-2010 06:05 PM

orchid ---> off minor ---> pg.99 ---> hot cross

idk

christsimpson 12-08-2010 06:22 PM

Swing Kids are probably the best band

pixiesfanyo 12-08-2010 06:37 PM

wait since when was Pearson in Three Penny Opera?

kitsch 12-08-2010 07:11 PM

he isn't? for some reason i thought he was.

witchxrapist 12-08-2010 07:30 PM

Swing Kids, Some Girls, Holy Molar, and All Leather are awesome.
