That's a perfect description.

Kansas has a couple good songs. Carry On You Wayward Son and Dust in the Wind are excellent tunes.

Ahh! Absolute statements have no place here.

They are awesome, though. I don't know about the best.

ATM 09-14-2005 08:06 PM

So I played Quicksilver Messanger Service at work today \m/

angusmaster 09-14-2005 08:06 PM

Kansas stuff are alright,i like it how that "carry onward wayward son" is in happy gilmore. (one of favorite all time movies)

Flaminghotchino 09-14-2005 08:07 PM

Where do you work? I'm just wondering cause your I always see you talking about who you played at work today. Just strikes me as funny for some reason.

Ah, ya I just loved that quote I found a cool site along time ago and it had some of the funniest last words. But the guy from Sin City wins: "Is that all you've got you pansys" Fake but still funny.

Walrus Gumboot 09-14-2005 08:08 PM

QMS are my new favorite lesser-know band of the late sixties out of Sna Fransisisco. This is a very limited genre

I was surprised that my mom has never heard of them

/made this post beforre reading Slug's

Yeah they are quite good.. I should listen to them more often.

I have so much music too sort through though..

Lately i've been trying to "break in" Pink Floyds a momentary relapse in time, and King Crimsons Larks Toungue in Aspic

Oh my that is awesome looking I would love to work in a Record Store next summer or anything that I could listen to music and do what I love. (Play Music)

So I was talking to my mom this morning about Jethro Tull and she told me that no one she knew in high school/back when Tull were "popular" knew who they were or listened to them. Which I find funny she said no one listened to Tull, or The Who. At least where she went to school.

That looks so cool. I always wished I worked at a music store, because then I could mess around with as many instruments as I so pleased, and get paid to show people how to mess around with instruments. There is some girl my age in a town near mine who's parents run the place where I get my harmonicas. I am quite jealous to say the least

JonG 09-14-2005 08:15 PM

I might work in my guitar shop. I would love it. A record store would be amazing also.

Badmoon 09-14-2005 08:16 PM

Who posted that album by Scientist a while ago, was it MagicBus?

That album owns, I think's in the Reggae Thread in Other Music; you guys should check it out.

Ulysses 09-14-2005 08:16 PM

I put in an application for a music chain with a great diversity of music in their selection including jazz, blues, classic rock, progressive rock, eastern etc. But i never got a reply and haven't attempted since. I should though, there are some great record shops in the city and it would be a good working atmosphere.

ATM 09-14-2005 08:18 PM
I've been meaning to come up there sometime. You ever work on Sundays?
The store isnt open on Sundays :-/

But yea, working at a music shop is great. Everyone are musicians, and we can dress however we want, and play music all day.

I work in the front counter stock warehouse, where we basically get calls from the front counter for items and we send them down a little elevator. I dont even have to walk downstairs

We just hang out in there, talk music in the AC, and listen to everything. Today we were listening to like QMS, Sly and the Family Stone, etc.

Tons of famous people have come hung out there. It's crazy.

angusmaster 09-14-2005 08:18 PM

That would be cool to work in a gibson music shop, get to play some of the best guitars ever, that would be my dream job.

robo2448 09-14-2005 08:18 PM

Working in a music store would be awesome. Is There Anybody Out There? The Wall Live is pretty awesome too.

ATM 09-14-2005 08:19 PM

I would really love a tab of Gold and Silver :(

Lunch 09-14-2005 08:19 PM
The store isnt open on Sundays
Crap, I usually work all day Saturday and it's too for away to go after school, unless I really have nothing to do. One day though.

Gold and Silver is great.

Yea, just let me know dude.

Ulysses 09-14-2005 08:21 PM

Yeah, the lack of dress code is awesome at independent music stores. There are people that dress like hippies, goth, metal fans, all of which specialise in their respective areas. Its good to talk to people who have knowledge about music. A lot of the mainstream chains are pretty useless when it comes to a broad spectrum of knowledge regarding music.

pohl_56 09-14-2005 08:22 PM

Kansas is aright. The two songs that I think everybody likes are Carry On my Wayward Son and Dust In the Wind. What ever happened to the band? They just kinda made an album or two and dropped off the face fo the earth along with a bunch of other bands that could have been huge like Rainbow etc... Hmmmmm...

Lunch 09-14-2005 08:22 PM

I rarely see any hippies working in my local record shops, so I'm hoping I can fill that void.

ATM 09-14-2005 08:24 PM
I rarely see any hippies working in my local record shops, so I'm hoping I can fill that void.
Hahah you should see the hippies jam to the music I bring in.

This one guy were Grateful Dead shirts every day and every time he comes in the warehouse area, he has to stop and rock out to my music.

One guy we never discuss here is Blue Cheer. A kickass power trio from the 60's.

JonG 09-14-2005 08:25 PM
I would really love a tab of Gold and Silver :(
If you want, I could get it tabbed out :p

angusmaster 09-14-2005 08:25 PM

Tomarow at school is decade day, where we can dress like 60s 70s 80s etc.,im not doing it though.

Lunch 09-14-2005 08:26 PM

Oh and to catch up.

I'm average.

And my school day is from 7:17 to 1:55. So everyone else shut up about waking up early.
