NP: King Crimson - 21st Century Schizoid man

Dr. Jake Destructo 11-17-2005 10:00 PM

What videogames?

///

I have come to the realization that I am a stingy cheap bastard. Everyone always asks me "Dude, why don't you drive to school?" I respond with "Psh, I can't afford gas!"

I looked into my wallet today and I found 3 20's, a 50, and a 10.

What the hell is wrong with me? Can't afford gas. Ha.

Speaking of gas and driving, I just got my truck back from the shop today. I had my timing fixed, I got a new muffler and exhaust(out of necessity, not because I wanted a new chrome 4 inch tail pipe) and I got a mouse nest removed from my blower.

TojesDolan 11-17-2005 10:07 PM

But... well. That's what you get for not being precautious and listening to Timmy the Driving Bear. :thumb:

On cars subject, I don't have one, and schools is two blocks away from my house, so it's pretty convenient. The downside is that I can't take the ladies out by hitchin' rides with my friends... and I don't like spending money on my own. Let's not discuss spending it in a person that will hurt me both physically and emotionally.

Is it me or is King Crimson live a paranoic experience? They're killing me at the moment. :(

Dr. Jake Destructo 11-17-2005 10:13 PM
Ha. I can't afford gas either. I ran into some girls car in the parking garage, and had to pay her $664 today, just to get her bumper painted and buffed. Such crap. But yeah, I have 33 cents in my savings account, and 20 cents in my checking account now. She literally wiped out my whole bank account. Ugh. This is gonna suck that I don't have any money.
Jesus you get into a lot of accidents. I've yet to get in one. How many have you gotten into?

Tojes, have you heard any of Adrian Belew's solo work? I downloaded a track featuring him, Danny Carey of Tool on drums, and Les Claypool on bass. It was wicked. As far as King Crimson, I've only heard ITCotKC, which is amazing.

Kingofdudes 11-17-2005 10:21 PM

Anyone going to see "Walking the Line" this weekend? I really want to see this movie.

NP: Johnny Cash - Folsom Prison Blues

TojesDolan 11-17-2005 10:22 PM

mmm... No. I have a solo album from Mr. Fripp though, with a string quartet or something around that line... it's an amazing instrumental experience. The problem is that it was a burnt CD and it got scratched, so some tracks sound horrible. :(

But I'll check out that, I'll se if I can find something. :D

Dr. Jake Destructo 11-17-2005 10:36 PM

Aaron, who are the other 3 Nedland fanboys? I better be one of them. :-D
(Nice edit)

Also, I just saw a myspace profile for that movie, and it looks pretty sweet. I'm kind of a Joaquin Phoenix fan, so maybe I can get a few friends together to watch it.

Tojes- Belew's stuff is probably a lot easier to listen to, especially when compared to the things I've heard about Fripp's music. :p

TojesDolan 11-17-2005 10:40 PM

It's like being on acid... minus the acid. And believe me if you're writing or something, you can't focus on writing... it just makes you... strangely out of your mind lol.

I only found a tribute to Hendrix on Ares (by Bellew, I mean)... I should use DC and soulseek more, I guess.

So I'm tired, gotta go. see ya MX. Have a good evening.

Dr. Jake Destructo 11-17-2005 11:09 PM

Well, pretty much everyone in this thread, actually. :p

Maybe not quite a million, but close enough.

xizoesira 11-18-2005 12:26 AM

Way to girl up the thread wtf!

I didn't know you came here.

xizoesira 11-18-2005 12:34 AM

My name's the same as always, but I come and go like the wind.

I played letters with you once, I remember.
What is this? Do I know you?

People need to stop changing their names, I get all confused when this happens.
Maybe you should just stop being such a nerd and post more on an internet forum then :p

Permanent Solution 11-18-2005 12:46 AM
Yeah like that's any less nerdy than playing video games.

Except it is. :upset:
It was meant to be ironic :p

But yeah it is, I think because you're a girl.

xizoesira 11-18-2005 12:52 AM
Oh dude yeah! Haha was that when we were drawing on the scratchpad too?
Yeah, I was owning that scratch pad up.

I was the guy who wrote 'Everybody on the love train' or something like that. I think I was purple!

Who was the guy who kept scribbling all over the whole screen? :/

I'm sure that line-up has an actual band name. I can't remember exactly what it is, but it's something "cool" and "wacky" like all of Claypool's other groups.
So... I turned 21 today. I'm not really feeling it, though. Aside from the fact that I was able to ask for a white wine at dinner and got it.
Happy Birthday, I suppose. It's strange to think you're that old, and can only just not get alcohol legally :-/

well, that kids PSP is definitely broken. Thankfully, i wont be shellin out 250 for his

Jom 11-18-2005 09:27 AM

Well, I've essentially gotten the hang of the programming software now

I've got :43 of bass written, which isn't much, but I think it sounds alright so far. I'll probably finish the song over the holiday, because this weekend will be a bit busy.

On Sunday I have to go to the Holocaust Museum in Michigan for my Holocaust (derrhrrhrr) class. We're also going to be meeting and talking to a survivor. We'd go on a Saturday, but it's closed (their Sabbath day, heh).

Arucard 11-18-2005 09:41 AM

I'm going on one of them next March.

Anywho, we are doing The Trooper at our school talent show, and its gonna sound mental. I'm also doing an acoustic version of behind blue eys.

Bartender 11-18-2005 09:48 AM

Is that also going to be recorded?

kurrpt 11-18-2005 09:50 AM

sounds pretty kewl.....

i have a situation for you guys, and you give me your honest opinion (not sure if this topic is getting old or what)

obviously, i want to get a PSP ASAP. I was looking on ebay, and found out i could get one for 150-175 bucks. I was very anxious to get one. For some reason, my girl is demanding that I not get another one. She said "we're moving out in January, and you need to say your money"

I then thought about either giving up my weekly expenses, to save for a new PSP, or selling off some merchandise/gear to cover the cost of a new PSP. Even after i come up with these safe alternatives, she still insists that i not buy one.

This doesnt make sense. Do you think shes planning on getting me a PSP. She actually was the person who told my parents that i lost my PSP. My parents have not asked me what i wanted for Christmas as well.

You think they're getting me one?

Jom 11-18-2005 09:52 AM

Haha, that's quite a situation you have there.

I would play it safe and wait for Christmas. If they don't wind up getting you one, don't kill them - and just go and buy one.

Arucard 11-18-2005 09:52 AM
Is that also going to be recorded?
Yes, i have Behind Blue Eyes recorded already. I do the little bridge/breakdown a lot differently though because its acoustic.

dam ur smoothe Jom :thumb:

do you think my logic is pretty sound though? To me, it doenst make any sense why she would insist I not get one, unless they are conspiring behind my back...

I would say that you have a legit reason for thinking that, yes. The challenge for you will be to hold out for five weeks or so, heh :p

thats definitely proving to be one hell of a challege...

then again, i DID see my brother playing the new Mario Kart DS yesterday. Unfortuneately the owner of the broken PSP has it in his possession. I figured id be a sport, and let him play the Castlevania for about another week, before i demand it back

Bartender 11-18-2005 01:40 PM

Part of my building is on fire. Luckily it's a part remote to me, so I don't have to do anything. Kind of disappointing though; with three fire engines outside, I want to see some smoke, if not actual flames.

How big is your buliding/how big is this fire?

Bartender 11-18-2005 01:54 PM

Not sure about size, but several hundred people live here. The fire probably isn't very big (I can't see it at all), but we live right next to a fire station so I think they enjoy sending over as many firemen as they can whenever the smallest lick of flame presents itself.

TheDMV 11-18-2005 01:56 PM

I am currently sporting a mohawk  I should be buzzing it off today, after snapping some pics of course.

Hmm, must be a British thing then...sorta. Here if any of the bulidings in the complex (several thousand inhabitants) has a fire alarm go off, the entire complex is evacuated. Most of the buildings aren't even close enough to spread the fire to one another :-\ We've never had a fire though...mostly just people burning popcorn at 4 am and such :(

kurrpt 11-18-2005 01:57 PM

well thats pretty cool...

you should be a pseudo arsonist, and set fires, time the response times, and send the results to them anonymously

it might play out similar to this

8:23 : placed Yannia CDs in trash can. Doused with lighter fluid, and 2 liters of gasoline. Lighting mechanism was a lit cigarette

8:25 : watched as the fire engulfed part of the building. That will teach those fuks in 112 to blast that sh!tty music

8:37 : fire department responds. 6 people!!! Man, they underestimate my ability....

you can figure out the rest :thumb:

Yeah, well... this is America. The land that forgot there are no more Puritans for a reason.

kurrpt 11-18-2005 02:12 PM

yea, you can die in war, shoot fukkers with ak47s, but when it comes to alcohol, they draw the line...

makes sense to me

jpj 11-18-2005 02:15 PM

Yea, that has to be one of the more asinine laws in America.
