Just hooked up my new PC. The transfer of my old files is going... well who am I kidding, it's barely going at all and i'll be lucky to be back to normal by the weekend. However, with the new FiOs connection and a quad core processor, watching this thing do much of anything feels like sitting in a wind tunnel.

All I know is that the quad core makes video games move faster than a greased weasel on amphetamines riding a weasel-sized razor scooter. But that's balance by the fact that Vista could not be any less user friendly if it was punching me in the balls.

Depends on what engine the game runs on. So: most games don't run better on 4 cores compared to 2.

Can you at least let me pretend it matters? It makes me feel better about having Vista on my PC.

I was an idiot and told my wife to get Vista on her awesome gaming pc. It keeps crashing.

Vista is slow and until you disable everything it decides to babysit you.

I dual boot with Vista. It's not as bad as everyone says.

You can shut off UAC (which I don't, because it makes it practical to run a limited account). I shut off that flashy Aero interface too. I don't like it.

It's now horrible, but Internet Explorer crashes the whole computer sometimes. We switched to firefox after that. I love my XP on my laptop though.

Vista is a very good OS at it's current state and people who say otherwise don't know much about computers.
