listening to this casette tape that's been in my recorder since i first got it

with all the tracks turned up it's like a total cacophony random noises that weren't actually supposed to be together

pretty sure this would be the most complex music i've ever heard if i had actually intentionally made it sound this way

ugh mad post punk riffage going on right now

every now and then I try to make a post-punk influenced song I keep finding unsatisfactory bass tones however

i find that if i lay down a random, simple bass line off the top of my head into the recorder

and then record a melody on top of it that clashes discordantly, and overdub some funky 7th chords

the result is instant post-punk

granted this is the formula for Devo/Talking Heads-esque post-punk, not the darker stuff.

I like 3rd-7th chords

they sound really cool and shimmery

7th chords are my guitar center chords

like, i don't actually know how to play guitar that well so if i go into guitar center and fiddle around on some expensive guitar i'll typically play nothing but 7th chord funk riffs so i look sophisticated

come to think of it i guess it probably looks really logical because i only ever go to music stores to play the hollow jazz guitars

I opened for them a while back at a house show. We had lots of technical difficulties and our drummer got high, so he wasn't really on time. My gear didn't work, my guitarist's amp setting were changed for some reason and the guy who set up the show didn't really give us any info as far as trying to work the PA. It was a really bad experience for us.

The cops came in the middle of our set, so we had to cut our set short, which in our case was a good thing that night. Vault Dweller played like two songs and bailed and I didn't even get to see them because it was so quick and I was dealing with shitty gear and cops. It was a pretty massive fail that night. I decided to never play house shows in the middle of tweakerville again.
