cjgone 08-25-2010 11:51 AM

*lol* I have a soft spot in me because they were the first black metal band I heard in 9th grade when my playlist was only pop and alt rock... :)

Meatplow 08-25-2010 11:53 AM

Burzum is the only other black metal band I listen too. I don't count the album I heard by dimmu borgir tho.

I was already was exploring death metal when I was 15 or so and I began exploring black metal's more popular but influential stuff like Burzum and Emperor. Never had a CoF stage.

Terrifyer 08-25-2010 12:16 PM

My very first exposure to black metal was Disscetion and (early) Celtic Frost. Then I got De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas and jumped straight into the Norwegian scene

DBlitz 08-25-2010 12:22 PM

i think drudkh was the first black metal band i listened to actually (like a whole album) idk. that was 2 years ago. listened to some every now and then but black metal never kept my interest for too long. only started listening to a lot of black metal (which isn't dso/cobalt/peste noire) over a month ago.

Txus 08-25-2010 12:49 PM

darkthrone and burzum were the first for me, i was around 13/14

DBlitz 08-25-2010 12:55 PM

pretty sure you were the one who told me to get drudkh cause 'they are the best black metal band ever' :p

I got into tech death in 9th grade because someone showed me dream theater and I told them I could find even more technical music. XD Then I actually liked it and note that the heaviest thing I listened to prior was static-x and as i lay dying. :P

TimJim 08-25-2010 01:01 PM

wtf happened in here

witchxrapist 08-25-2010 01:03 PM
My very first exposure to black metal was Disscetion and (early) Celtic Frost.
lol We are all talking about how we got into black metal I guess.

My music past goes like this
Age 10 Listened to a lot of my dads cds. Beachs boys and the Beatles.
Age 12 Green Day/Blink 182 and a ton of popular radioshit
Age 13 Settling into "heavier" radio rock (SOAD, KORN, Tool)
Age 14 Tony Hawk games get me into old school punk and metal somewhat (ramones, suicidal tendancies, motorhead, black sabbath)
Age 15 mostly shitty metalcore quickly get into melodeath, then real death and begin exploring every genre in extreme music i can find

Weird to think 6 years ago I was 15.
