Well yeah I can see that but I think Roger took it too far to the point where the musicalness of it was sacrificed.
Well, to be honest, many parts of The Wall are supposed to be rather uncomfortable, both musically and lyrically, just like parts of Animals was.
Well yeah I can see where your coming from, but I don't see where animals was uncomfortable.
that is not the question the question is what three of one will be your favorite!
uh. i can do all three. I like AHM the best but that generally gets rejected by most people including band members as being bad.
The thing is though, if you upload one, I will listen to it. I don't know what to do with three albums, I'm not the kind of person that can sit and listen to one band all day. Or become intrigued in a discography (you know what I mean) in one sitting. It took me more than a year to get interested in Meddle after Animals. |
Atom Heart Mother isn't for you then. It has some great moments, especially If, but then you have Alan's Psychadelic Breakfast which really lets you down.
I'd say going for Saucerful Of Secrets of the three that Jac recommended, if you're going to take his word over mine. D= |
Saucerful is probably my 3rd or 4th favorite. Better than AHM, although I love AHM. The title track is beautiful, and I don't have a problem with Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast.
Sometimes I like to put Here Comes the Sun by the Beatles, Fat Old Sun by Floyd, and Sun King by the Beatles on a playlist and watch the sunset out my window. |
Ive only heard Here Comes The Sun but that sounds pretty cool.
Fat Old Sun is a pretty good song.
Most of Obscured By Clouds is great for a hot summer's day. |
Ive only heard Here Comes The Sun but that sounds pretty cool.
Sun King is like a slowed down, tripped out Here Comes the Sun |
If you've already got Meddle and Animals, try Wish You Were Here or Saucerful of Secrets. I would suggest Darkside, since I think it's their best work and it's popular for a reason, but if you don't want it, I would grab one of the other two I mentioned.
I'll go with Wish You Were Here next, just because it's been recommended consistently. Also I'll listen to whatever Jacaranda decides to upload :P
Wish You Were here is the easiest to get in to other than Darkside, so it's a safe choice. You will most likely enjoy Shine On You Crazy Diamond, that's maybe my favorite Floyd song.
i think WYWH is better than dark side at the moment
Wish You Were Here is my favourite Floyd.
I find Wish You Were Here to be pretty overrated. Shine On is amazing, but the other three songs are nothing special. The album just doesn't give me the same cohesive feeling that Darkside or Animals does.
Mind you, I still like the album and I still listen to it. I just don't see it as on the same level as Darkside, Animals, or The Wall. |

i know the title track is overrated...but i still cant help but feel so...awesome when i hear it.
its great when everyone just starts singing it and stuff plus my girlfriend who has almost 0 knowledge of guitar took it upon herself to learn it and play it for me that was kinda cute :] |
Awesome, lucky man. Yer it's one of the Floyd songs the general public focus on a little too much but every time it's on I just gotta stop and listen to it.
I just stopped listening to WYWH, no reason really I just don't like it as much as I used to. I never ever listen to DSotM or The Wall I can't listen to them for more then 5 songs or so then I get bored and change it.
That's odd, but I can understand it. I still can't think of The Wall as boring, haha.
I find The Wall a little boring in places, but not DSOTM.
But you're a feeble minded cockroach, Jono. :-*
I really like the first 10 or so songs on The Wall then I just kind of lose interest. With DSotM there is no interest to begin with, well maybe during "Money" but that goes away once the song is over, oh and during "Brain Damage" and "Eclipse" but even halfway during those songs I usually change it to Piper....
But you're a feeble minded cockroach, Jono. :-*
One step up the ladder from a cane toad, Jason. :-* |
It'll be on very soon, Jono. How're you going to act? :-*
Would you guys say the Live at Pompeii dvd is worth getting? I don't know too much about it yet but the few clips ive seen look great.
(sorry to change subject) |
It's my favourite live performance by them, despite the fact it's not live, per se, and more of a documentary that a concert. Get it, definitely.
Then you can laugh at "I like to think oysters transcend nationalities" with Jono and I. |
Live At Pompeii is cool, although I find it a little boring at times but that happens to me with the majority of Music DVDs. I say get it.
Although when I saw it I wasn't as heavily into PF as I am currently so I want to see it again.
It'll be on very soon, Jono. How're you going to act? :-*
Hopefully like a winner -_-
Then you can laugh at "I like to think oysters transcend nationalities" with Jono and I.
Hahaha. |
Thanks guys, I hope to join in on this oyster joke soon :).
You'll love it, it's in one of the interviews, the second segment I think. The band are eating oysters and pissing off the guy interviewing them.
Haha I can imagine Roger and the others winding up an interviewer :p.

Wow that's...terrible. Money is the one song I usually skip when I listen to DSOTM. |
I've never gotten bored listening to Darkside. I could understand how someone could, it's not the most upbeat of albums, but I never get tired of it.
The Wall can be a bit of a drag sometimes. |
Yer I found the wall to be like a very deep movie. It can be quite depressing too.
I find it too emotionally draining to watch often, so I haven't even fully absorbed it all tbh.

That movie is ****ing devastating. The first time I watched it I almost cried during Comfortably Numb... Granted alcohol can provoke emotions you normally would never bother with haha. |
I still need to watch it.
The movie is pretty good, but it can be a bit much to take in. I've watched it about five times now, and I still don't understand parts of it.

Hey I almost cried listening to the album version, and I was sober. |
Yeah, I still find nuances of it everytime I watch it. My sister was too disturbed by the shaving scene to keep watching, but my girlfriend and my friend have both quite liked it.
