What is it about Pink that you don't like?

DerMond 09-12-2007 01:38 PM

ok, this will seem completely strange coming from someone who loves Neurosis and Isis, but the music was too repetitive, too droning. i love building on guitar parts and loads of fuzz, but all i could really discern was a great deal of feedback. the songs seemed to go in circles and not progress at all.
Well ignoring the fact that you are very wrong because no band has even come close to matching Autopsy (Talent means nothing - riffs are everything)
I agree and personally for me an example of a better band than Autopsy is Funebrarum. Similar old school style of death metal, but much heavier and more awesome. Not that Autopsy isn't.
perhaps you'd better start by naming some of those bands that are better than The Melvins (within the same microgenre).
IMO, bands like Ufommamut, Ramesses, and Electric Wizard.

FatalEnergy 09-12-2007 04:58 PM
They are...I'm seeing them October 15th.
I had not heard about this. I will proceed to look it up and poop myself.

ATM 09-12-2007 04:59 PM

I'm going to go see Weedeater a few days after my birthday.

Txus 09-12-2007 05:11 PM

They are so ****ing good!
IMO, bands like Ufommamut, Ramesses, and Electric Wizard.
Sorry, Luc, but those bands can't be compared with the Melvins since they dont fall under the same "microgenre" as said before.

Of course Funebrarum is going to seem heavier, think of the differences in production from then to now.

O.O what is the microgenre then? It's not Sludge/Doom?

Txus 09-12-2007 05:43 PM

Well for me at least, they are neither. They influenced both genres....but theya re simply some kind of bizarre rock band.

Genres suck anyway. But if you listen to any of those bands (except electric wizard) you mentioned you'll see no bond with the melvins, especially with Ramesses.

publicastration 09-12-2007 05:44 PM

I don't know, I'm listening to them right now and I don't see how they can't be connected with the above mentioned artists. Just my opinion though. :\

NP: Melvins - Boris

Txus 09-12-2007 05:49 PM

I see, they are all good though.

I need to listen to my Melvins/Lustmord album.

swearfilter this is idontcare

idontcare, swearfilter

RetiredAt21 09-12-2007 10:07 PM

It's the lame language filter.

Kage 09-12-2007 10:07 PM

 it's a swear filter. The word pussy is censored into 'slightly confuzzled sea lion.'

metal-militia 09-13-2007 06:47 AM

Candlemass were amazing. The set list is a bit hazy due to alcohol consumption, but Solitude, Mirror Mirror and Under the Oak were all excellent. I shook every members hand and got one of Jan's sticks which was quality. :chug:
Hey, I've been out of the stoner stuff for a while, but the name Weedeater rules! Never heard 'em... anything like Bongzilla? Anyone dig Alabama Thunderslightly confuzzled sea lion?

Oriah 09-13-2007 07:05 AM

pate 09-13-2007 08:54 AM

You still up for the Warning/Against Nature/The River tour? Looks like I'll be catching it in Bristol now. Still hoping to see the London show as well though.

I'm not sure at the moment as the London gig is on the same day as a friends birthday and I'll be at uni and probably won't be able to afford to travel to the other shows. I'm going to try my best to get to it though!

Oshi. I'm moving there immediately.

Iron Bars 09-14-2007 09:36 AM

Pagan Altar is also touring so it's really looking good for Doom metal fans in the UK.

ATM 09-14-2007 09:54 AM

I'm going to see High on Fire with Mono :D

I was gonna see High on fire with Taint and Russian Circles last week but couldn't make it up there cos of changes last minute....was gutted :(

ATM 09-14-2007 10:16 AM

This is why I hate living in the US. We don't get shows like this at all that are almost LOCAL shows, no less.

Angmar 09-14-2007 09:28 PM

So I was listening to Dance of December souls by Katatonia and it just might be my favorite by them now. I love Renkse's vocals so much in the old days.

ATM 09-15-2007 10:06 AM

Anyone hear the new Zoroaster yet?

NemesisDivina 09-15-2007 10:14 AM

they sound interesting simply from the name...

i'll have to check that out.

ATM 09-15-2007 10:32 AM

http://www.myspace.com/thezoroaster

If you want a link to the album, let me know.

It's their first full length album.

NemesisDivina 09-15-2007 10:40 AM

I would absolutely love a link for that. How can I deny a band whose influences are Black Sabbath, Celtic Frost, Sleep, Venom, and Godflesh?

ATM 09-15-2007 11:02 AM

Yea, they rule. They are touring but aren't coming anywhere near me >:-[

edit: check your rep

NemesisDivina 09-15-2007 11:03 AM

hmmm... they're coming (sort of) near me. about 40 minutes away in dekalb. If I like this album enough I shall go see them possibly.

ATM 09-15-2007 11:05 AM

At least I am going to see High on Fire, Weedeater, and Wooly Mammoth soon :D

NemesisDivina 09-15-2007 11:11 AM

I'm gonna miss Weedeater... stupid 21+ venues...

hate to be a bother but... link for Zoroaster?

ATM 09-15-2007 11:11 AM

Check your rep.
