if it's true, go. if it isn't true, go anyway.
id rather see shane magowen take joes place cos when listening to the nips i thought shane sounded a good bit like Joe
I have the best idea! Dont replace Joe Strummer.
well u no how do u no it wouldnt work like ya no joe yes ok main part of band but sure it worked for Bands like AC/DC
I didnt understand one thing you just said haha?
basically i get the impression that u think if the clash did reform (if they did they would need to replace joe unless they done songs that mick and paul sang on) that u dont think it would work with some1 else but then again how do u no it wont. it might not be the clash fully but u would still get that same energy from them (unless they r all using walking sticks by now which i doubt)
So is english your second or third language?
may aswell be half the stuff i say sounds ballocks due to growing up in Belfast u pick up a bit of everything here
AC/DC shouldn't have replaced Bon Scott. The Clash should not replace Strummer. BUT DONT BUY IT GUYS IT AINT FOR REAL!

How do you pick up talking like a crippled baboon? |
crippled baboons are indigenous to Northern Ireland, and are often recruited as teachers for the children.
So is english your second or third language?
  . Dont replace joe, just do songs mick and paul sing on, mick could probley just sing the songs joe sang as well. |

Ah. I suspect that's because the children are too wasted too care? |
I would be excited if this was Mike Ness instead of Tim.
And Tim Armstrong sings like a retarded cunt. Ya might as well let Paulo sing, because Paul Simonon singing = retarded **** singing. And Mick had a good ability to sing and play at once... they could just let him do it. |

I can see that falling apart pretty fast. |

and mick does that awesome staggering dance...

It's not going to happen. I'm glad it's not. Can you imagine the Clash without Joe? Simple as that. I'm sure no one else can, either. They have no reason to come back. And really, who's gonna sing Joe's songs? Tim? Mike? No way. He wrote those songs. He meant those songs. Certainly they can be covered, but they should not be performed again under the name of the Clash. And why the Clash now? The world doesn't need the Clash, version 2.0, for no reason or purpose at all. And replacing Joe with Tim would be like replacing John Lennon in the Beatles with Liam Gallager. It's just not right. Not for money, not for fame, not for the fans, or even for the sake of the music. Not even close to right.
The Clash existed in a moment of time that was special because they made it special. And they helped bring meaning and purpose to punk rock and furthered the meaning and purpose of rock n roll in general. They left behind a great legacy and a fine example of what a rock n roll band could be if they only cared enough about the music and brought a message with it. They broke down barriers, musical and otherwise, and wouldn't take no for an answer. And as time goes by they may very well be remembered as the band that made punk stick, so to speak. Nah, they ain't coming and I'm happy about it. What we don't have, we won't miss. It comes at too high a price and compromise. I say we let the Clash rest in peace. And let Joe rest with 'em. |
Wow. You actually made me proud with that statement.
I promised myself i wouldn't cry... |
*thunderous applause* i like that little line about making punk "stick", theres definately something in that, although I'm not quite knowledgeable enough to figure the whole deal out. And the comparrison to John Lennon/Liam Gallagher was sheer brilliance, and I hate John Lennon.
Wow. You actually made me proud with that statement.
I promised myself i wouldn't cry...
Yes, i nominate that for the best post ever in this thread! So its a 100% fake or what? |
THAT is what I've been trying to say, JohnXDoe just said it 100x better. The Clash were a mythical band, I can't explain it but the guy who wrote The Last Gang in Town can. Death or Glory, White Riot, Washington Bullets, Straight to Hell, White Man, I'm So Bored With the USA, Clampdown, Revoution Rock Tommy Gun, fuck, even THIS IS ENGLAND wouldn't mean much without Joe yelping like a fool up there.
Would Tim start muttering and stammering lyrics on stage?
Well, (Rancid is ok, don't get me wrong) but Tim thinks he is Joe Strummer anyways. If I was there and he did I would throw something towards the stage if I didn't have WAY too much respect for Paul, Mick, and Topper.
Tim would be killed by rabid clash fans at the first show.
Tim dosent have the balls like Joe either, i cant see Tim hitting somone in the head with his guitar, well i cant even seem him lifting up a guitar.
I think he lifts it up too much...it's like vertical in his hands. I think he has Downs or something.
Hahah yes he does have downs. My only complaint is he better not play a telecaster, that would be very dis respectful.
Word.
Hahah yes he does have downs. My only complaint is he better not play a telecaster, that would be very dis respectful.
Don't kid yourself. If there was a reunion, Tim would play a tele. |
I would jump on stage and punch him then, that would be very disrespectful!!!

hahah, poor tim. kinda feel bad for him. now tim could have a reason to have a brittish accent.
Most of the fans would be 40 years old or fag kids like me who were born 5 years after Cut the A'ss. |
hahah yeap, i was born 6 years after cut the crap. but im older than you i thought? i think there would be more teens than grown ups.

Was CTC released in 85? If so, I'm a five-years-afterer too.
a little off topic but......
I used to really like tim armstrong and rancid and then I saw the transplants on the warped tour and I thought it was pretty obvious that tim was either drunk off his *** or actually retarded. I think if he did a clash reunion I would lose all respect for him. |
I'm so unconcerned with that record that I don't know what year it was released. Not that it matters.
