Yeah I ended up just doin two tracks. :p I have a muted pop-left hand slap-muted slap-muted pop-muted slap pattern going in the background for the rhythm (don't feel like using Fruity Loops). I'm going to overdub a a slap solo over it. :p

JoeDaddio 08-29-2004 01:54 AM

haha. No, I just made a pig face in the reflection of the window in front of me, and it reminded me of Stand By Me when that big guy is walking up to the pie eating contest, just before he pukes all over everyone. And while he's walking, everyone is making that noise. I know... I'm retarded....

Radiobass81 08-29-2004 07:04 AM

I was hoping this would be "Casual eight; I'm eating cake"... Oh well.

My week has been fine. Seniors haven't done anything to us yet...

JoeDaddio 08-29-2004 07:06 AM

Wooo!!! First page!

LightRaven 08-29-2004 07:11 AM

Good bait is a difficult jazz piece... it popped into my head first so that is what I used.

LR

Radiobass81 08-29-2004 07:14 AM

Speaking of jazz, my teacher recently wants me to totally improvise the jazz pieces we play at night. Very exciting now, not to mention my fretless has the perfect tone for walking bass lines :).

Toothbrush 08-29-2004 07:19 AM

So... remember how I made that big thing about my ex having leukemia and how I was bummin it big time and all that jazz?

Well, on the good new side of things, she is fine.

On the bad news side of things, it was a lie. A lie to me. Just me and only me. Wow. How's that for well... I don't even know. Fucked up shit. :upset:

tommorow I see dream theater, horray.
I went to long and mcquade to try out some warwicks(2 thumbs, 2 corvets, 1 streamer) ... good tone, but hard to slap. IMO Warwicks are very over rated.

Hey Hex, I'm good. I'm still waiting to be paid (As I have for the past 7 weeks). Pissed off a bit though. I was painting a stencil on my bass project (A bass clef) and the paint underneath started cracking and going crappy, so I've got to repaint it again.

On the plus side, I just got a new bass off ebay! :D

Joe, my ex's best friend lied about having Leukimia. We didn't really question it until she went into remission and started seeing the doctor who brought her back to life when she died for a minute on "the table" She's one ****ed up weirdo

bassweasel 08-29-2004 08:01 AM

poor joe, bud.... i hate people that pull that crap.

speaking of jazz, our highschool jazz bands auditions are oct. 28, and i get the audition music sometime this week. he said sightreading is MORE important than improv actually. i was a bit shocked at that to be honest. my biggest worry is figuring out how to improv latin and new chords such as like "Bbm9" and such.

victor claypool.... i dont like you :upset: jerk, goin to see dreamtheater like that.

Sure, rub it in... *glares balefully at P.O.S. Squier propped up in corner*

Radiobass81 08-29-2004 08:26 AM

bassweasel: Latin music is a bummer to play... It isn't hard, but you can get messed up really easily, since every instrument is playing a different thing.

Radiobass81 08-29-2004 08:27 AM
Sure, rub it in... *glares balefully at P.O.S. Squier propped up in corner*
*pats*

Well, look at the bright side; atleast you have a bass.

ShelBel 08-29-2004 08:37 AM

True. I just wish I'd done a bit more research before I bought it. Darn impulse. :D And I can't say as its a complete loss; I'm learning, and a friend actually wants to swap necks because he wants the P-Bass neck for his jazz side project.

Now if I could just talk him out of his Cirrus.... ;) Nah.

Ugh, I'm sick and sore.

But anyway, I was writing a song earlier..... I'll attach a GP4 file of it so y'all can hear it, if you want. It's just the start or something, I dunno. Any feedback is appreciated.

I dunno if attachments are working or what, but i'll try.

jazzfunkboy 08-29-2004 09:00 AM

I have loads of summer homework too! But I forgot what it was and have left my books at school  as usual.

What exactly is it propping up? :p Sorry. I've just been setting money aside for a 4 string and had £400 budget. To get a really nice bass for less than half that is making me happy! :D

I have loads of summer work. Emailed it off to my supervisor and she's very impressed that I've done so much. I've only done so much because I've got broadband internet access in my room and can download all the articles I need to research mosquitoes and malaria... well, a lot of articles, not necessarily all of them. I'd have to pay money for that privelige

Yeah. I know.

Whatever. I need to find myself a nice girl. One that isn't totally insane.

I seriously do not know what to say about this. It is absolutley appalling to me that someone could do this.

First time I've ever posted anything in these. I've always been discouraged because there were so many pages and I'd be behind.

Right now, its propping up a file cabinet in the Help Desk (I bring it with me to work on the weekends- that's how quiet it is around here, and since I'm all alone, I can do what I want). :D

I'm with you on the cost. You got an excellent deal. I'm debating on what bass I should get in the spring... I know I'm definitely going to get a 5 string (I waffled on that for a while, but now I'm pretty well set on it). I've seen some nice Ibanez 405s and 505s on eBay but haven't had a chance to play one yet. Stopped by the music shop in town and drooled over a pair of Cirrus's on the wall briefly; the guy at the counter said he had a Fury and liked it, so I might have to try one of those as well before I make my final decision.

I see a trip to Guitar Center in the northern Twin Cities suburbs coming on sometime this winter....
I seriously do not know what to say about this. It is absolutley appalling to me that someone could do this.
I agree. I hear these kind of stories and wonder what kind of sick person would do that. Well, there's a reason why she's your ex, right Joe? ;)

Meh, just go and look at the last few posts, the conversation tends to change. It's kinda like a pit thread without the stupidity. You can easily join on the conversation

e p 08-29-2004 09:48 AM

Hello all.

I'm surprised I finally caught one of these so quickly. They usually explode.

Thats kind of twisted that someone could even do that Joe. Maybe she has mental problems because thats appaling.
(I bring it with me to work on the weekends- that's how quiet it is around here, and since I'm all alone, I can do what I want).
I wish I could do that. unfortunately I work in a bar and for me to sit there and mess with my bass is strictly classed as live entertainment and I can't do it :(
I've seen some nice Ibanez 405s and 505s on eBay but haven't had a chance to play one yet
Yeah, that's the one thing that worries me about buying off ebay, I don't know what it's going to be like. I've played a few Schecters though and they have such nice balance and they've always been just the right weight, so I think I can expect that from this one.

Only thing I need to do now is name it. I name my basses after women in songs. I have Layla (Yamaha BBG5A) Tracy (Custom built... thing) and Mrs Robinson (Stagg acoustic). My ex gf said Buttercup but I'd like to reserve that for if I get a yellow bass. I'm gonna think it over
