Meh, glampunk.
I made the sparkly red vest, you can't really see it in the photo though. http://myspace-421.vo.llnwd.net/00383/12/49/383789421_l.jpg Will take more photos soon. I wish my sewing machine would work, it was so much effort =( |
I'm now of the opinion that, to be original in this scene, you should wear "normal" clothes: a band shirt and Dickies, as I do. However, when I wore a leather this was it (I was so proud of it):
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v259/AndrewsAlbum/HPIM1219.jpg And my vest. Keep in mind, this was like two years ago. The Misfits was paintes freehand, the rest are patches: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v259/AndrewsAlbum/HPIM1221.jpg However, the vocalist of my band, Ryan, is killer at stencils. He doesn't have contrasted images to work with; he uses normal pictures, like from newpapers and such. One of our band's shirt designs: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v259/AndrewsAlbum/HPIM2301.jpg This is him in an Amebix shirt he stenciled: http://myspace-664.vo.llnwd.net/00328/46/60/328000664_l.jpg |

..so today i found my leather vest thing, from about 2 years ago (when i was going through a faze in which i thought i was pUnK RaWk)..anyway, i do realize that most of the bands on my jacket suck, but overall i thought i did a pretty good job, here are some bad photos i took of it. and is there a place i can sell this jacket?

Both of those stenciled shirts, especially from what I could make out of the Amebix shirt, look f'ucking killer! It looks very, very cheaply made, like you sat down blind-folded and just wrote band names on your leather. Your denim as well, personally speaking here, looks cheaply made. As I said, i'm not a fan of using... what looks like pen(?) on your denim, and using two crooked patches. It just looks very cheaply made. Overall, i'm not Punk Police Officer, but I think you should spend more time on your jacket. I'm not saying i'm a DIY Jacket Van Gogh here, but put more effort into your jacket. It's the first thing people see at shows, and the first impression people get of you really. The purpose of the jacket is to stand out, and represent what bands you like. Furthermore, it symbolically represents who you are. With "**** Sparrer" written completely unevenly and probably in red nail polish, it just makes you look very cheap, and in my opinion idiotic. D.I.Y. is not an excuse for making something look s'hitty! |

Just because its DIY, you shouldnt have some really lame jacket that, if made to look good would actually get people to notice it for a good reason rather then "Hey dude, look much that jacket sucks" |

I enjoy on improving on my DIY skills such as stenciling and sewing. I don't think I could ever bring myself to paint on a leather jacket, though. They're very expensive, and then you can't sell it. Besides, my leather jacket is actually still technically my mom's, so it's not up to me to ruin it.
Anyway, if I were to make this stencil: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v294/asdf23/copy.jpg Would anyone recognize it at Jack Terricloth from World/Inferno Friendship Society? |
If you made it exactly like it then yes, but if you do a hack job at stenciling then no.
If you made it exactly like it then yes, but if you do a hack job at stenciling then no.
I'm pretty good at stenciling, so it would look like that. Although it's kind of pointless for me to make it for two reasons: I allready have a W/IFS shirt I made http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v294/asdf23/worldinfernoinvert.jpg No one in my city knows who W/IFS is, so I'd have to explain who he is all the time. Still, I think it's a pretty good stencil and I want to use it. |

I shall.

I deeply appreciate the offer even if I probably won't use it. However if I were to make myself a W/IFS shirt, I'd probably use that stencil. |
I was skeptical on making a jacket anyways. I don't care at all how it looks, it's just a jacket. I wasn't gonna spend a lot of time on it.
That's exactly why I'm not getting a leather to patch and paint on, I don't trust my skills. I'll stick to denim and fabric. I just got a Dickies jacket for Christmas, but I'm not going to put patches or anything on it because it looks too nice, but I may put a couple buttons. |

Doesn't really matter that it's from hot topic, I'm going to wear it. However, I'm not going to patch it all up, either. I have one jacket that the patches are dedicated to, and after that I pretty much make shirts or patches by reqest/payment from friends. I have a button maker, but haven't used it in quite a while. I should pull that out sometime. |
This is my first stenciled t-shirt its not that great(its very blotchy)...
http://img470.imageshack.us/img470/121/blackflagt3mg.jpg Then this is a vest that im planing on designing, but I have no good ideas... suggestions please...(Its more orange than red because I had to use the flash) http://img369.imageshack.us/my.php?image=check7mx.jpg |

Any ideas on what I could use on it? (paint, patches, studs...)
Any ideas on what I could use on it? (paint, patches, studs...)
I'd probably limit it to patches and buttons on a vest like that. |
i have an old army jacket that i am patching up. i currently have a NOFX patch and a DKM patch but am planning on putting on some more makeshift stuff.

My next stencil I'm working on:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v294/asdf23/gogol.jpg so far so good. |
You should put the Terricloth stencil on the back of your WI/FS shirt.
|
I made a shirt recently, using spray paint. And no matter what I do it wont stop reeking of spraypaint, I don't minda lil smell, but it is REALLY bad. I was wondering if there was a way to permenantly get the smell out?

How much spray did you use? What you should do is spray it really lightly, then wait half an hour til it dries (or however long it takes psray paint to dry), then another light layer, and that should be enough. |

How do you cut out stencils?
|
How do you cut out stencils?
Use either a razor or an exacto knife. Theres other things you could use, probably like a really sharp knife, but a razor of some sorts is really the easiest to use. |
