Nope, I have no idea what Aljmadio is.
Well, if you have any recommendations, send them my way. I have a whole summer with nothing to do but work and read.
Spain started kicking out Muslims unless they converted. Some generations later, still practicing their religion hiddenly, in order to keep the tradition they started writing in spanish but with the arabic alphabet (most couldn't even speak it, but to hold some customs they learned the alphabet and wrote with it). That's Aljamiado. Totally random, I know. |
It's fucked because you're supposed to end up with two identical copies of the original. To us non-math folk that's like using magic to make another ball from nothing.
I just tour around the internet looking at interesting things. BTW, if you want an interesting read, with math and very interesting stuff, check out: Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid by Douglas Hofstadter.
The thing to realize is that it can't be physically re-constructed. That's why math is such a hard subject for students to grasp starting at algebra - there exist undefined quantities, and that is a tough concept to grasp. I've read Godel, Escher, Bach. Haha. It's chop full of good stuff. |
That seems interesting. How did you get into that area? I mean, I didn't know about that theoretical side of math until a while ago. Did you just love numbers and discover it at the uni, or something similar?
And I understand what you're saying. Right now I'm in literature, but even at times I sometimes ask myself if it's what I really want. And I also don't have career goals (I see myself reasonably happy with any job I can get after getting a lit degree or whatever). My goal I guess is just to know as much as I can, see if I can kill my curiosity :p
Yes, I just love numbers. It started with finding other sources referenced in bibliographies in text books and also with, weird as it is, the band Tool and Danny Carey's love for sacred geometry. Math seems so small, but the more doors you open and the more you look into concepts, you realize how little you really know and how vast the subject really is. You will never be able to kill curiosity - I've tried. But don't give up. |

Totally random, I know.
Ah, I see the root. The Almohads are the ones who invaded Spain in the 12th Century and pulled the same trick on the Jews in Andalusia. That sounds cool, I'll look into it. EDIT: actually, that's almost exactly the same thing, because that's the same situation that led to the rise of several prominent Jewish authors, who wrote with Arabic themes and literary techniques. |

They say that without knowledge of history, it's doomed to be repeated.... |
Where is it that you're studying, Efrim?
|
Anybody notice that right around the age of 20/21, everybody you know starts getting pregnant and/or married?
I counted my MySpace and Facebook friends, and between 30 and 40% of my friends that are my age are in that situation. It's absurd. |

I have no idea. I cannot grasp my head around that concept. Is your life so complete by age 20 that you have nothing better to do than raise a child and throw yourself into a legally binding contract with another person whom you'll probably grow to hate in 10-15 years? Lunacy.
i recorded my ex gfs sister on a new track shes pro vocal status she wants to be on american idol gonna legit audition next season
Ballin. I'm going to audition too. I wont make it, but at least I wont look as faggy as all the dudes from these last couple seasons. |

I saw the birds with arms thing. It's way funnier than it should be.
Don't get Canada involved. This isn't Canada's war. |
Lucky for you; Canada would just surrender.
Excuse me while I go masturbate and get paid for it. HA **** YOU CANADA! |
