RAMBO is good. Tragedy is better, though.

Sanford 09-12-2007 12:42 PM

Unearth is some good shit.
Great crushing melodic riffs and one badass drummer.

masscows 09-12-2007 01:33 PM

Unearth is good stuff.

DerMond 09-12-2007 01:35 PM

Unearth's too mechanical in their approach and their music's a bit too obtuse for me to say i LIKE them. i tolerate them.

RetiredAt21 09-12-2007 01:51 PM

Unearth is horrible.

masscows 09-12-2007 01:53 PM

I don't like The Oncoming Storm, but their other ones are good.

i am the robots 09-12-2007 02:19 PM

Zombie Autopilot son, y'all betta represent!

The most recent Unearth sorta bored me after a week though.

I remember listening to it on the way to band practice after school last year cause our guitarist was my ride, and it triggered me to burn him a bunch of melodeath because I got sick of the melodeath clone core bands.

masscows 09-12-2007 02:25 PM

that one's ok, and and opener is alright (the great dividers i think).

But Stings of Conscience is a fine example of what melodic metalcore should be like-imaginative riffs and songwriting that feels like it has direction (instead of the cliche'd verse-chorus-verse-chorus-breakdown formula that way too many bands use), great dynamics, lots of variation, well-executed breakdowns etc.

III: In the Eyes of Fire basically left most of their -core behind and picked up some thrashy and groove influences while still keeping their breakdowns in place. My main complaint about that album is that most of the breakdowns are almost exactly the same, unlike on stings of conscience, where the breakdowns never felt the same on any of the tracks. There are also like 3 songs on the album that are so bad I can't bear to listen to, but the rest are pretty sah-weet.

i am the robots 09-12-2007 02:27 PM

Actually, Stings Of Conscience seems terribly written to me, even if I love the album.

Bands like Opeth and From Graves Of Valor know how to write "unsctructured" but a lot of bands don't seem to.

I don't like the new one. =/
I'm a DEP fanboy so yeah...

Why don't you like them, Matt?
2muchket! 09-13-2007 04:10 PM

Eternal Lord or The Hunt For Ida Wave anyone ?

I preferred ET when Sam was their vocalist.

Ed's still good mind.

i am the robots 09-13-2007 06:25 PM

people keep ignoring intronaut, boo

NemesisDivina 09-13-2007 06:52 PM

i didn't. I have Null and Void and both are very good.

i am the robots 09-13-2007 06:53 PM

Okay cool. Yeah, I only have Void, is Null same style pretty much?

Txus 09-13-2007 06:54 PM

I just have Void and its pretty good.

i am the robots 09-13-2007 06:54 PM

Mad good son.

NemesisDivina 09-13-2007 06:55 PM

if you mean really good songwriting, then yes.

NemesisDivina 09-13-2007 06:58 PM

you gotta admit that these are damn good lyrics though... these are my favorite from Intronaut
Disillusioned with complacence
We craft our past

Peering down this tunnel ever so far
Cracks shed light

Another day fails the shadow
One by one another chapter closes

Nostalgic echo
Perpetually reverberates
In the teeth of all experience
We still stand

Immersed in reflection
Memories linger and cling like dirt
i am the robots 09-13-2007 07:01 PM

yeah but

Scream your name
To the deafest of the dumb.
The darker the better,
I still shake when I see you,
That's not alright.
I want to rip you to pieces
Kiss you until you remember what I meant to you.
I will try my hand at forever.
How can I walk away when I can barely stand?

Those are the type of lyrics I like.

Txus 09-13-2007 07:04 PM

Orchid :) nice!

i am the robots 09-13-2007 07:04 PM

Yeah, too bad Jayson's vocals sort of suck on that track, it's still damn good though.

RetiredAt21 09-13-2007 07:06 PM

Orchid is awesome.

IM ARTZY

Invicta_Veritas 09-13-2007 08:22 PM

I've only heard Miss Machine from DEP; loved it.

And The Oncoming Storm owns you all. Zombie Autpilot and This Lying World are fantabulistic. Unearth's new one is meh though....I do like track 6 but that's about it. I get bored with the album quickly.

NemesisDivina 09-13-2007 08:28 PM

I've only heard Calculating Infinity from DEP, it's damn good. I should probably get more...

LifeInABox 09-13-2007 08:58 PM

DEP absolutly RAPES Unearth in every way, shape, and form.

masscows 09-13-2007 09:01 PM

i really don't see the big deal with dep

I really find it funny how Coke makes fun of Gorguts for doing crazy stuff on Obscura when DEP is equally pointless and twice as pretentious.
