Anyone looking forward to new russian circles? Ill be interested to see if they can top Enter. Station was mediocre for me. Im very excited though to see what they can bring
eh not really looking forward to it, but ill definitely get it and listen to it. theyve just been kind of stagnating, havent heard much progression in their sound at all. not a terrible thing, as i love their sound, but still.
theyve only done 2 albums so id hardly say they've been stagnating.
theyve released 2 albums, an ep, and 2 splits over the span of about 6 years
all of which sound exactly the same |
meh i thought station sounded different to enter. More polished. not in a good way though. You cant expect every band to do something completely different every album. Theres nothing wrong with finding a sound and sticking with it
well when your sound is as basic as russian circles' you kinda gotta do something a little different here and there otherwise it starts to, word of the day, stagnate. irepress had a very definite style on their debut, and it seemed like they were already masters of it. but they still managed to change it up in the slightest ways on their newest. and it worked.
its like, yeah theyve def got a solid sound, but its one that barely held my attention to this point, and likely wont continue to for another album or two unless they do something different that said, enter is a great album |
enter is the only album of theirs i listen to much. And i did say in my original post about them that i wanted to see what new stuff they could bring.
you just said what they could bring haha but im not not arguing with you or anything. just exchanging opinion n shi.
meh im still jet lagged im struggling to form coherent sentences and thoughts. in summary im excited for a new album but not if it sounds like station
right on i can agree with that
hi5
am i the only person that liked station? enter was obviously better but idk, i enjoy station too.
its not like its bad its just yknow exactly the same thing except not as good
yeah pretty much
i listened to it a bunch when it first came out but now whenever i wanna listen to russian circles i listen to enter by default
Geneva is really ****ing good, much muuuch better than Station.
Awesome, was wondering whether I should check it out or not but will definitely do so now.
eh im still not really too excited. probably not gonna look for it but if i stumble across it on a blog or something ill get it.
Fine, dont trust my opinion
:( |
you know i always do bb, but im pretty sure i already know what im missing by not listening to it
haha, yeah, tbh, the new Do Make Say Think is much more interesting, probably my second favorite Post Rock release this year.
yeah i enjoyed the new do make, need to listen to it a few more times tho. i havent listened to alot of post rock this year, but my favorites would probably be the new precious fathers, long distance calling, from monument to masses, and bell orchestre.
hafta say i just saw the cover art for russian circles and its so badass it almost makes me want to listen to it |
Haha, yeah, it's an awesome picture.
And I've never heard Precious Fathers or Bell Orchestre :( I think I should... |
yep, get on it
it really is so ****ing good. There are so many good albums coming out lately
Yes, it is!
Any of you like Jakob? |
Jakob is pretty cool, I've listened to them a few times, yeah the new Russian Circles is definitely better than Station
jakob is good, ive got solace. not sure if i think its extraordinary enough to look into anything else by them tho.
lol yeah I thought it was pretty decent but never wanted to check out anything else, I have that same album
another one of those 'its solid but it sounds like every other generic post rock' groups
theres just not much to say about them, except, well, yeah its good |
