Then whats the difference between Studio and Stage? and isnt Projection a Zildjian title

KK2K5 03-13-2006 04:36 PM
stack any 2 cymbals and youll get that sound. Just stack some cheap wuhans man. wuhan 12inch china on top of a 14inch crash or something.
I know it sounds stupid but whats the correct way to stack cymbals? Do you literally just put 1 on top of the other or do they need to be seperated by felt? And how would 2 crashes stacked different from a china/crash combo?

styler 03-13-2006 04:38 PM

i dont know the difference off by heart.

www.sabian.com if you wanna find out.

projection is a zildjian type of crash.

there isnt really a set way to stack them. if there cheaper cymbals removing the felt might get a more desired sound. if there higher quality more pricey cymbals you might wanna put the felt on them just to extend the life of them.

Drummer Freak 911 03-13-2006 05:33 PM

I tried sabian xs20s 2day. and i didn't find anything wrong with them. whats your opinions?
I tried sabian xs20s 2day. and i didn't find anything wrong with them. whats your opinions?
When I started I got XS20s. They were ok. Then when I upgraded to AAs and AAXs I realised that I should have just bought them from the beginning instead of wasting $300 on the XS20 pack.

They are decent for starting out on though. Better than B8s. ProSonix would be better but I think they might have discontinued that line.

A ping ride below 600$$ Australian
A ping ride below 600$$ Australian
What is your question?

HeLLmO 03-17-2006 05:39 AM

well, either he wants a link to a place where he can get an A ping ride for under 600, or he wants to know a good ping ride for under 600, in which case i recommend the Zildjian A Ping Ride or sabian's neil peart sig paragon ride

Drum Phil 03-17-2006 06:06 AM

I want a 20" Crash, give me some ideas. Preferably sabian but im not that bothered

Vault
HH Thin
HH Medium Thin
AAX Studio
AAX Stage
AA Thin
AA Medium Thin
Chad Smith Explosion

A Custom Crash
A Custom Projection Crash
A Thin
A Medium Thin
Oriental Crash of Doom

I have tended to the thinner side of things, as any thicker, and it'd need a harder hit to get it to open up. If that's more the thing you want, then obviously go for mediums.

Drum Phil 03-17-2006 07:11 AM

Chad smith explosion doesnt sound like a bad idea :) or the vault. Be a bit of a bastard to find the chad smith though. Mebe an AAXstage.

spirit 03-17-2006 07:16 AM

Yes, it could be. I don't ever recall seeing one. I mean, they could always get one, but you wouldn't know exactly how it'd sound.

spirit 03-17-2006 07:19 AM

On the Paiste side of things...

Traditional Thin
Signature Full (which is a medium, but responds well to a lighter touch)
2002 Crash (medium weight)
2002 Paperthin (new for 2006, the regular "Thin" only comes in 19")
Giant Beat Multi-Funtional

spirit 03-17-2006 07:27 AM

My mention of the Chad Smith, and your metion of finding one jogged my memory. I know where an 18" one is. Not 20" I'm afraid, but as with the BD pedal, if you're interested...

Drum Phil 03-17-2006 07:31 AM

I aint got the cash for it at the moment. I found a pedal that im goin for.

Primary- HHX, Vault, A, A Custom, 2002, Traditional
Secondary- AAX, AA, A Custom(heavier ones), Sigs, most types of istanbul or bosph
Effect- Stanton Moore Trash Crash, Oriental Crash of Doom

Pretty good list, I've tried all the cymbals exept for the effect ones and istanbul/bosph, but I've heard clips and those are what'd they be good for. The reason I put some as secondary is because some need to be hit too hard to get a good sound and they aren't as veratile. If you play metal secondary can be used as primary, if you play jazz and lighter stuff you can get K, K customs or HH's but I don't really think you want a 20'' crash if your playing jazz or something light.

Drum Phil 03-17-2006 07:36 AM

Oriental crash of doom ey. Nice idea, it'll be my 4th crash so i dont think i could count it as primary. I forgot to mention, i'd like one i can wail on :)
Ahhh. Whatcha getting?
Ahh, in that case, check out the trash crash AND oriental crash of doom, both very different and are good for fourth:amaze: crashes. From my understanding the Trash Crash still sings when played soft, so I'd go for that.

Drum Phil 03-17-2006 07:44 AM

Who's it made by?

We_Love_Lime 03-17-2006 08:12 AM
Who's it made by?
Zildjian Man. I gots a 20 Incher of the Zildjian Oriental Crash Of Doom. Expensive it is, but you won't be dissapointed. The Stanton Moore Is similar ( Made By Bosphorus ).

Both are very Trashy...China like cymbals...I don't know if the feel is something you could wail on...?

Drum Phil 03-17-2006 08:57 AM

I meant the Stanton one. I know what the crash of doom is

We_Love_Lime 03-17-2006 09:02 AM
I meant the Stanton one. I know what the crash of doom is
Bosphrous. They have sound clips at cymbalholic.com and bosphorus website....I don't know if its good for crash riding ( asuming thats what you mean ) my crash of doom just washes up and it doesnt sound good....

spirit 03-17-2006 09:08 AM

Oh yeh, thanks for reminding me. The Stanton Moore Trash Crash sounds awesome, in a dark and trashy kind of way.

Also, the Istanbul Trash hit, orin fact any large Istanbul/Bosphorus cymbal would be great.

destroyer of senses 03-18-2006 02:27 AM
A ping ride below 600$$ Australian
i dont no what i was thinking last night.... :smoke:... what i meant to say is im looking for a ride cymbol to replace my ZXT so just some oppinions on good ride cymbols for no Specific style

HeLLmO 03-18-2006 07:38 AM

well, lets see, i'm not familiar with austrailian money, but look at the sabian AA rides(especially the sabian AA Raw Dry Bell Ride), some of the sabian signature rides or AAX rides, umm, Zildjian A rides, and Meinl Amun and Byzance rides

Time 03-18-2006 04:36 PM

in your opinion, should i buy a 20" a medium ride for $200, or save up a little more for a K/K custom?

aznriceball 03-18-2006 04:38 PM

the A medium is a great ride. don't you have ears? try them out! then use your friends ears and try them out! cymbals are LONG term purchases, so buy the ones you REALLY want. from what you're typing im going to guess that you like the Ks more? then save! who knows, you may like the a medium more than the K..
