In the eternal words of Foamy The Squirrel, though, Halloween has been corrupted by mass media.

However, any day to just completely stuff your face with candy is fine with me. :D

Nowadays, I prefer my calories in alcohol, rather than sugar form.:D

Eating less leaves more room for drink.

Shattered_Future 10-31-2005 04:15 PM

Yea, but I thought eating makes it harder for the alcohol to get into your bloodstream...thereby increasing your capacity to drink before you pass out even more.

Kronos 10-31-2005 04:22 PM

It does, but at a terrible cost in calories. Eventually, you become semi-immune, and can drink without eating too much.
We English are world-class drinkers.

But not as world-class as the Scandinavians. Never have I seen such drinkers.
Respect.

Shattered_Future 10-31-2005 04:28 PM

Yea, all of Europe is quite good at drinking...

Americans, they can only settle for about 6 beers, maybe more depending on the person. (I wouldn't know...I'm not allowed to drink yet. )

Kronos 10-31-2005 04:45 PM

Interesting beer fact - I used to work for a Harley-Davidson dealership, and we had many American servicemen come in - they used to get us crates of US beer really cheap (unofficially, like:evil: )

My brother and I once drank a case between us (Bud)...
...and we didn't even get drunk:upset:

But got the worst headaches imaginable

Come to Europe - the beer's better.

Lord Abortion 10-31-2005 05:14 PM

We know how to drink over here, wussy americans can't hold their Beer!

we drink with one hand and wield our battleaxes with the other!

You guys underestimate us a bit. And don't listen to Shattered's "6 beers" claim :p .

A) A seasoned American drinker needs 16-20 to get steamed up.

B) Bud is goat piss. It's watery and tastes like trash. Believe it or not, there's plenty of American beers I'm sure you'd approve of. I myself enjoy a more hearty brew, so I drink a lot of red beers, lagers, and stouts. It's the average Sunday football game Bud drinkers that bring down the rep for the rest of us.

I should've also mentioned that the same applied to cases of the following -
-MGD
-Coors Banquet Beer
-Miller Light
-Ice House
One Yankee lager that wasn't too bad was Michelob, but that still gives a headache long before oblivion!
On a serious note, I have heard that there's loads of good Yank beer from the small micro breweries you have (I had some Boston Steam Beer once, and it was very good indeed) - trouble is, it's the nasty stuff from the evil Anheuser-Busch empire that's constantly pushed here. We get almost none of the good stuff :upset:
Plus the fact that lager-type beers in general are marketed directly at Teenagers, who are obviously more easily fooled than us old'uns about what a decent brew is.

Kronos 11-01-2005 01:43 PM

'Spose we'd better stop talking about beer an' stuff now - we'll get flamed or something

Shattered_Future 11-01-2005 02:38 PM

Bah, not many people care here...in the PM thread, at least.

cjborton, I said I don't drink...so I don't know how many it takes to get drunk.

I will say, though, my dad's friend and his wife brought a case of wine (6-7 bottles or so) on vacation with us for a week, and managed to finish that case within the week.

Quite funny to see them drunk...:D

I ordered Majestic (Gamma Ray's new album) like three weeks ago, and it still hasn't gotten here...damn slow delivery...I should have just ordered it over Amazon.

Kronos 11-02-2005 03:59 AM

Thanx for the Therion Magda. :thumb:

Will download it in a while.

Gotta stay in most of the day - waiting for Mr Postman, and a heap of large boxes..

I've heard incredibly good comments about it and the song I listened myself on the radio rules :)

You have that and didnt tell me? if i was going to buy it i would beat you with a drumstick

Sonata's website is getting a shop section soon so i should be able to get a t-shirt (hopefully):thumb:

Shattered_Future 11-02-2005 02:08 PM

Gotta tell my friend to get the ball rolling on those Sonata tickets...I want to get them by the end of the week, just to be safe.

Been listening to a LOT of them lately...I think they are an extremely underrated band. Both the keyboardist and guitarist could surely pull their own weight as solo artists.

Tony certainly could! Tommi (drummer) is no Jukka tho'.

Riva 11-02-2005 05:08 PM

Heh, Sonata Artica are hardly underrated. Everyone talks about them. This thread is 40% Sonata Artica, 40% Blind Guardian, 5% Dungeon (when Tim's online) and 15% other bands. :p

Not that it's a bad thing. :p

You have radio stations that play good music!
The closest thing I get around here is a classic rock station that really hasn't been that great lately.

I'll check tomorrow, hopefully it's gotten there by then.

That's your problem - always letting others have their opinion and everything - it's just too mature..:upset:

Only one real thing, The cover of The reckoning is basically the trooper's cover with eddie replaced by some other thing and The war in question altered.

Iron Bars 11-03-2005 05:41 PM

Didn't Iced Earth say they were huge fans of Maiden? So it wouldn't be weird if they were influenced by them then.
