The Modern Dance rules but Dub Housing is a pile

Rockets and Bluelights - a smashed city
Geteye - above the clouds
generally getting refamiliar with my collection

sillyhead 03-25-2010 05:21 PM

Dub Housing is pretty awesome wtf. i like Modern Dance better too but title track? Caligaris Mirror? cmon

i just went through the album again and i love like all the songs. ones that get stuck in my head and ill just have to listen to: I Will Wait, Drinking Wine Spodyody and Navvy. only ones i dont really care for are Thriller! and Blow Daddy-o. and the closer Codex is really weird and not a very fun song to listen to but it gets stuck in my head too for some shitty reason. really whole album is good i duno whats up with ya

QTpie 03-25-2010 08:21 PM

only good pere ubu song is waiting fro mary

SugarCoatedSour 03-25-2010 09:04 PM

If none have heard Datapanik In the Year Zero, go find a link. It's a precursor to the mushroom trip that is Pere Ubu

Also the band originally came out of a group called Rocket From The Tombs(1975), which also contained one half of the group soon to be called Deadboys

poopie 03-25-2010 09:17 PM

i dunno much about latter pere ubu but on story of my life... theres only one good song.

and its really good....

Flying Lotus - Cosmogramma
108 - 18.61
how are they?

capsule - blue

i'm strongly holding on to my belief that this band is one of the most innovative screamo bands today, alongside off minor. near perfect album.

Digging this at the moment http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2i1QfJ16A0. On part 3 right now.

SugarCoatedSour 03-27-2010 11:25 AM

Dig these:

Carl Craig - Landcruising, More Songs About Revolutionary Art And Buildings
Robert Hood - Minimal Nation, Internal Empire, Nighttime World
Derrick May - Innovator
Morgan Geist - Driving Memoirs

very class detroit techno, not riding under the cliched 4-track aesthetic that the scene is known for.

Happymeal 03-27-2010 11:45 AM

Thanks^. Don't really know much about this scene but watching Jeff Mills do his thing leaves me impressed every time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bLanIfR13A

SugarCoatedSour 03-27-2010 11:57 AM

Oh yes, get Jeff Mills' Live in Tokyo at the Liquid Room. One hour set 3 tracks, fast tempo....japanese....need I say more?

DBlitz 03-27-2010 12:49 PM

The National - Cherry Tree
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Let Love In and Henry's Dream
American Football - American Football
Bohren & der Club of Gore - Black Earth
