Iai 07-01-2010 01:58 PM

We need more posts in this thread to get rid of that ugly advert in the first post of this page tbh

2muchket! 07-01-2010 02:59 PM

Can't you remove it josh ?
I downloaded what I thought was the EP last night but it turned out it was only the first two tracks and a 60mb artwork image. Little disappointing but I suppose that's what you get for piracy.
I've got a soft spot for 'Sunsets' myself, but I could see a few people going "wtf?" over it

2muchket! 07-02-2010 08:15 AM

Sunsets is something different, quite like that tune too.

ATM 07-02-2010 11:45 AM

Thinking of checking out that Boregore album you are digging. I like what I have heard from him.

2muchket! 07-03-2010 11:38 AM

it's p siq bro

dubtr3 07-03-2010 03:59 PM

yeah dude. I've been limited to youtube though, cant find any dubstep at music stores, but thats kind of expected since its emerging.
right now the only artists I know of so far besides miscellaneous people who post dubstep songs are Skream, Digital Mystikz, and The Widdler.
anyone know of other good dubstep artists?

2muchket! 07-03-2010 04:02 PM

stenchman, borgore, tomba, shekel, dayn, vaski, faltyDL, clubroot, kode 9, pinch, kryptic mindz, distance.

too mashed to check for others but there's a good start

Iai 07-04-2010 05:22 AM

And Joker and Vex'd.

Does anyone else in here really not like Joy Orbison or Ikonika? They're the only two big names I really dislike (apart from Borgore, but I haven't really given him a chance).

Kyle 07-04-2010 05:38 AM

For what it's worth I think Joy Orbison is good when he's doing 2-step stuff, but probably the worst of the hyped up emerging producers. Ikonika is alright, her album is too long though and has been massively overshadowed by other recent releases.

I'm really digging this Lorn album on Brainfeeder. Like a heavier Nosaj Thing, it's great.

2muchket! 07-04-2010 06:03 AM

I like Ikonika, but yeah she's def been overshadowed by other released, mainly Guido's, because it's that similiar style of IDM crossover with dubstep.

Haven't listened to Joy Orbison much.

Txus 07-04-2010 08:05 AM

Ikonika is pretty decent.

Lorn is really good, he fits the Brainfeeder sound perfectly but it's still so fresh.

Happymeal 07-04-2010 08:12 AM

I'm into some Joker and 2000F/Jkamata remixes at the moment. Anyone recommend songs with a similar style to "You Don't Know What Love Is"? P much stuff on the mellow side that's heavy on the synths

2muchket! 07-04-2010 09:37 AM

Yeah good shout that josh.

Happymeal 07-04-2010 08:38 PM

Thanks, I'll look into those.

IAJP 07-07-2010 05:39 PM

i occasionally stumble across some dubstep that i really like, recently though, and i am 100% certain i reiterate a tried and tested point of view, the emphasis for me is on as ridiculous a bass wobble as is concievable. does that then make the track "messy, sick, dirty, filth", or whatever?

i don't see the point in that, i don't like music for the sake of one single component, and it seems to me that a lot of people listen to dubstep for that feature. why not just have a wobble instead of the other good features, the skittery drums and the weird synth?

i met skream a few months back and he shares that view point. he was off his ****ing head on ketamine though by the looks of it like.

2muchket! 07-07-2010 06:44 PM

It's annoying yeah but not all dubstep fans are brain dead numb skulls who only just enjoy WOBBLE WOBBLE WOBBLE

IAJP 07-07-2010 06:59 PM

yeah man i'd say 0% of them are, the people i know who like dubstep hate the wobble, the people who like the wobble are by and large people who've had a crystal of MDMA and then proceed to think that 'meow meow' by rankin is the best thing they've ever heard...very idiotic

edit:

actually, i feel like something abit more cooler, ambienty sorta stuff...any youtube vids??

2muchket! 07-07-2010 07:01 PM

new clubroot album is amazing check that out

IAJP 07-07-2010 07:02 PM

tar i will have a gander..

edit:

good that, listened to a few tunes on youtube, must say i like it. makes use of everything i like about dubstep, and the best thing is, i can't imagine it getting played in a club. reminded me abit of the burial stuff i used to raaaaaave over. thanks man

Deviant. 07-07-2010 09:52 PM

Take a look into Guido's album Anidea

Txus 07-07-2010 11:00 PM

And also take a look into Mount Kimbie.

IAJP 07-08-2010 09:15 AM

thanks fellas. definitely a better sound than the one i am used to, the kind of generic excessively overproduced and watered down stuff i hear all the time and people raving about it...i suppose i was looking for stuff like burial, more subtle ambient rhythms that are almost aphex twinny...these are good, thanks a lot.

2muchket! 07-08-2010 09:27 AM

Boxcutter, Kryptic Minds, Scuba, Zomby and Pinch will all satisfy your needs then.

Check out Ikonika too, similiar to Guido with the mixing in IDM with dubstep.

IAJP 07-08-2010 09:33 AM

i was listening to the four/tet burial comp the other day. i don't really like four tet as much as everyone seems to. think he's abit too feathery, i hate the phrase "idm", but he is probably the epitome of that..as in, it's electronica for people who don't truly like electronica. thanks for the reccs man, good stuff!

2muchket! 07-08-2010 09:42 AM

It's a dumb phrase but that's the only one that actually comes to mind to describe it properly.
