Thanks for the insight Frail. Can any other bassists here do a little of the two-finger triplets? I can do them sometimes if I build up speed.

FrailandBedazzled1979 01-20-2004 10:46 PM

^^^^

you'll hear it pop up in alot of bands now and then, but no one really uses it for their foundation of the songs like Harris does, basically because it would be like mimicing his style to much. Lost Horizon does it quite often actually, download "sworn in the metal wind" for a good example. I hear some prog rockers do it occasionally, but mostly for fills to match snare or double bass rolls. I think it helps to go in decending order with your fingers, "ring, middle, pointer" over and over, but some people prefer it the other way around.

Has anyone seen the parody (lyrics) for the The Trooper on metalstorm.ee? It's pretty good. http://www.metalstorm.ee/fun/view_fun.php?id=2 - THE TRIPPER

HondoII 01-22-2004 06:06 PM

HondoII 01-22-2004 06:08 PM

THIS MAY RUIN NO MORE LIES FOR YOU!!!!

sounds like Bruce is saying "NORMALIZE"

YDload 01-22-2004 07:19 PM

"Were they reflections of my woman staring back at me?" Another Number of the Beast misinterpreted lyric. Like I've said before, I'm bad at understanding British singers.

metalhead72 01-22-2004 08:43 PM

OMG!!! i just saw maiden live in concert (in montreal) and they blew my mind!!!!!!
I wasn't such a huge fan but i loved they're music, and i had heard a bit off of dance of death, but they're live performance was mindblowing, with the giant reaper in the backgraound and eddie comming on stage, and the the guitarist with the white guitar throwing his guitar six times 30 feet up in the air and catching it, and the way bruce would just dance in front of the drum

omg it soo amazing, iron maiden are truly gods

FrailandBedazzled1979 01-22-2004 08:47 PM

heres a miss intereperd lyric from Tailgunner "nail that fokker kill they son" whereas i used to think he said "nail they father kill they son".

and Metalhead72, im glad you enjoyed them so much...another under the spell of Edward :) hehehe

Deadsy 01-22-2004 10:36 PM

My friend and I were going to go see that show in Montreal, but I had gay exams. Man it would have been sweet.

Holy Smoke 01-22-2004 10:41 PM

Maiden are soooooooo sweet live guys! And montreal Croud kicks ***

FrailandBedazzled1979 01-22-2004 11:16 PM
My friend and I were going to go see that show in Montreal, but I had gay exams. Man it would have been sweet.
never an excuse!!! I drove 3 hours on an exam night to see Blind Guardian and Symphony X, than back afterwards to study....there is no excuse when it comes to metal, espially MAIDEN!!!!

HondoII 01-22-2004 11:28 PM

Maiden will stop touring for a while after this tour...so yea..its well worth it even with exams

Deadsy 01-23-2004 12:58 PM
never an excuse!!! I drove 3 hours on an exam night to see Blind Guardian and Symphony X, than back afterwards to study....there is no excuse when it comes to metal, espially MAIDEN!!!!
It would take me 8 hours to get to montreal, so if I left right after exams which is like 11 am, I would get there at around 7:30 pm and then go to the show, leave at 10:30 - 11 pm get home at like 7:30 am then go to school and my body can't handle that, so shut up.

Thunder Fingers 01-23-2004 01:41 PM
and the the guitarist with the white guitar throwing his guitar six times 30 feet up in the air and catching it
you can tell me all you want, but tell it to Harris

HondoII 01-23-2004 06:34 PM

wonder how much it would cost to book maiden for a personal gig lol. All i need to do is win the lottery, purchase an aircraft carrier, a jet, and tons of food. Then ill let Bruce fly the boys to the aircraft carrier and have a huge jam in the middle of the ocean lol. Gotta play Rime of the Ancient Mariner though and musnt shoot any albatross.

Zppln 01-23-2004 06:38 PM

quick question: what album is The Trooper on?

HondoII 01-23-2004 06:43 PM

Piece of Mind

YDload 01-23-2004 07:45 PM

Question: what's that one lyric in "Invaders" that I can't seem to figure out? Here's the context:

Longboats have been sighted and the evidence of waaaaaar has begun
Many Nordic fighting men with swords and shields gleeeam in the sun
Call to arms defend yourselves get ready to stand and fiiiight for your lives.
Justice bringin' comorant so be prepared, don't run, stand your grooooouu....

Okay, what's that line really?

HondoII 01-23-2004 07:54 PM

Judgement day has come around so be prepared don't run stand your ground

YDload 01-23-2004 08:02 PM

^ Thanks! I actually have the lyric booklet, but this is easier. It also lets you guys who have been Maiden fans longer to show your knowledge.

HondoII 01-23-2004 08:09 PM

i always try to decode maiden lyrics without looking in the booklet. However there was a little incident with Rime of the ancient mariner:

"through the fuckin' ice"

really : "through the fog and ice"

lol

naboo 01-23-2004 09:13 PM

^ haha i thought it was that too at first but i figured it was through the fog and ice
