reminds me of that futuristic guitar yamaha did a few months back. the RGXA2. got the idea from a music video with what looked like fiberglass/styrofoam guitars, but i left some black in there for contrast. also wired it with a 0V on-board overdrive instead of a tone pot (2 parallel anti-phase diodes, 1n4007). the middle pot is just there for looks. i was thinking of adding in an active EQ but i still haven't decided whether or not to.

That bass is hilarious, but not in an entirely bad way. Inspired by Buckethead at all?

jakehopt 07-31-2007 04:51 PM

I started my first project a few days ago.

That'd be the design I went with, which I cut it out, and have started sanding.

^^ That is what I have so far, I still have a ton of sanding to go, but I have a few questions:

1.) If I'm going to install more than one pickup, and have an active EQ, how do I cut the bass out and all? I really don't know how to cut it so I can run the wires, or what tools to use. I have a router though, just need to know how i should do it.

2.) When setting up my bridge, does it matter how far back or up it is on the bass?

Thanks guys, Jake.

Really, I like it, It's simple, plus way too late now, as I couldn't be arsed to find that same shade of blue again :p

i'd just suggest maybe some inlay or something, then you wouldn't need to mess with paint. :thumb:

Nah, it's not worth it for that guitar/neck, way to uncomfy.

And since my links have once again been terminated due to my rearrangement in photobucket

oh yes, this matters. if you dont do this right your intonation will be completely off. generally you determine the bridge's position by your neck (hopefully you have one.) measure from the nut to the 12th fret. with that measurement, from the 12th fret to the body, thats where the bridge should lie.

there's some nice work in here, guys, awesome

heres my very unique and modified telecaster

i got the guitar 3 years ago for christmas to work on it over time as a project. i just kept doing more and more on it, but i didnt have much experince at the time couldnt properly wire it. the original electronic configuration when like this: SD quarterpounder pickups (still in there as you can see), mighty mite p90 (not there), both the p90 and tele set were wired to kill switchs near the lower horn, active boost in that teabox wired to a push/pull volume pot (not wired/working now), phase reversal switch tied to lead pickup, 4 way fender mod switch, fender tbx tone control.

as of now, though, its wired like this: 4 way (thats series, parallel, and each PU solo), on/off (since theres no volume pot), phase reversal, schottky diodes wired in a clipper circuit to a DPDT center-off switch (the black one). it works wonderful now, and with the P-R switch it brings back all that tele tone lost with the high-output 1/4lb pickups. im waiting on a copper sheet now, to re-wire the grounds to a "star" grounding point to eliminate the groundling loops which cause a lot of hum. as you can see, its all shielded, and quite well at that. i think i might also wire the booster to a micro-mini DPDT and install the switch in the box itself

also, the only original parts on the guitar are the body, jack plate, neck plate, switch plate, and screws :thumb:

Rum Monkey 09-12-2007 09:59 AM

I would have been tempted to keep the P90, but yeah looks cool!
