thank you

and once again i don't make things up , that was a mail by god (chris hannah)

AIRIC 11-10-2005 01:58 PM

God? You are an idiot.

We don't need anymore band whoring here.

Zesty Mordant 11-10-2005 02:02 PM

I was just listening to PCL again today and I noticed that Chris' vocals on it are really damn good, despite being very "un-punk" sounding. Like he totally wails on many of the songs.

feldwebel 11-11-2005 04:44 PM

yes it's really "the next step"
they really get better, i actually don't like their old stuff when i compare it to teta and pcl
those are great cds

good thing john left......todd fills in much better and the weakerthans write some very beautiful songs

sam-a-lam 11-13-2005 10:45 PM

..i just got the new album today...
its different to me... because i only had 'less talk more rock'
but i like it...
im going to make a propagandhi shirt

Weezerfan_returns 11-13-2005 10:57 PM

I think that less talk more rock is considerably better than how to clean everything.

joeybadoey 11-20-2005 12:24 PM

I wanted to talk about their lyrics for a bit. There's a bunch of lines I never really understood from TETA and now from PCL.

Like in back to the motor league, what the hell is Chris referring to when he says "Mouthed feet. Eaten Hats. Teated Bulls. Amish phone-books. Drunken brawls."

Can anyone explain those lines?

Thanks,
Joe

Thanks,
Joe
I think it has to do with drunken brawls shouldn't be happening. Mouthed feet, eaten hats, teated bulls, and amish-phonebooks don't exist. Therefore, I'm assuming he's piling in drunken brawls as something that shouldn't exist.

The line goes "It never ceases to amaze me and as I'm suffering
your perfection it reminds me of my own race
to redress my own sad history of
mouthed feet
Eaten hats
Teated bulls
Amish phone-books
Drunken brawls."

So yeah, I'm not 100% sure, but it makes sense in a way.

I don't understand the lyrics to Showdown G.E.P. it goes from political to romantic to political again. It's weird.

TakeWarning 11-21-2005 03:15 AM

Yeah, I don't understand the lyrics in Back To The Motor League either.

Haha, I love Showdown GEP how it changes from fundamental rights to girls with the greenest eyes.

joeybadoey 11-23-2005 04:24 PM

You could be right, but I think that you and I are missing something.

I just don't get the joke I guess.

Still amazed at Chris's amazing guitar playing and singing. Not to mention he's doing both simultaneously!

He's got a really great sense of timing and rhythm.

Yeah, it seems like he plays some pretty hard stuff.

I find you don't really realise how hard/complex their songs are until you sit down and try to figure them out, but they're super fun to play once you do get them.

A lot of guitar sounds really fun, but alas, I'm a bassist. I cannot play guitar for anything.

Anti-Prefix 11-24-2005 06:24 AM

The lyrics on the new album are superior.

To put your foot in your mouth is to make a mistake or say something stupid, "Eaten Hats" refers to the saying "If that happens I'll eat my hat" pointing to failed predictions, Teated Bulls and Amish Phonebooks don't exist and Drunken Brawls are just brawls.

He's referring to his own history of mistakes, anomalies and fights.

 Oh Joe you and you're imagination.

feldwebel 11-24-2005 10:46 AM

i guess theres some truth behind that

you know they always talk about moshpits and that they just hate them and all that c'rap

joeybadoey 11-27-2005 10:24 AM

Well, your a genius Joe. Looking back, I don't see how I missed that. Quite clever.

Yeah, so I'll have to say that the lyrics on PCL are the best to date. As for the music I'm not so sure. When I first heard PCL I didn't like it as much as TETA, but after I read the lyrics along with the music and listened to the album 5 or 6 times I now love it!

Now can anyone explain what this line is talking about from Albright Monument, Baghdad?

"...back in the Cradle of Democracy) it's another banner year for a cottage industry. a ritual at the corner of George and Constantine - as foundries scramble to recast his decapitated monument."

thats cause they're hella jaded. i've always wanted to see a propagandhi show, but the lazy bums never come to toronto.

joeybadoey 11-27-2005 10:50 AM

Hey Prop will be coming to Toronto in the Spring most likely.

I saw them at the Opera House when they came after the release of TETA, really amazing. Hope they come to the Kool Haus because the sound at that place is best, but the atmosphere is not as cool as the Opera House.

Anyways, they tour after every record, so you won't see them for another 5 years after this tour.

Hey man.

I was at the Kool Haus a couple weeks ago to see Bad Religion. It's a nice place. I've never been to The Opera House but I will be when I go see Against me!

Yeah, that radio interview they posted on their site with Jordan, he said they will have Canadian dates when it warms up, also a venue owner here said they'll be coming around our area but not until ATLEAST spring. So I'm pretty excited. How was it when you saw them? Or is that too far back?;)

Well if you know what a banner year, and a cottage industry is. This whole song is pretty much talking about Madeline Albright, ex Secretary of State.

Buzzbomb 11-27-2005 11:37 AM

Well I'll be going to see them in spring.
Am I day dreaming or did Jord also say they might be coming to Australia?
Basically They're doing a bit of the US right now, then in the spring they'll do some Canadian dates. In the interview Jord was asked if they're gonna do international dates, and he said maybe, and that they'll see. The thing with Propagandhi is that they like to take their time. As we can all tell....

joeybadoey 11-29-2005 04:51 PM

Last time I saw them at the opera house they killed!

Here's another one I never got:

"do you see the analogy? we're the oilers. the world bank- the flames! and just 2 minutes remain in the 7th game of the best of 7 series! yeah, jesus saves! gretzky scores! the workers slave. the rich get more. one wrong move and we risk the cup. so play the man, not the puck. "

I type this assuming you know nothing about hockey.

The (Edmonton) Oilers and the (Calgary) Flames are hockey teams with a bitter rivalry. Since they both come from the province of Alberta, their rivalry is often called the battle of Alberta, but that's beside the point. The analogy is that they're the oilers, and the world bank (or insert any other evil corporation's name in it's place) is the flames. In hockey playoffs the teams face in a best of seven series, so the first to four games wins. If the series goes to game seven it's do or die for both teams, and with two minutes left the tension/need for action rises. I'm not too sure about Jesus saves, Gretzky scores (Wayne Gretzky is known as the greatest hockey player ever). One wrong move we risk the (Stanley) cup. The stanley cup is the trophy awarded to the team that wins the playoffs. Play the man not the puck is hockey strategy in which rather than trying to get the puck and score goals, you just try to keep the players on the opposing team off the puck. How that really relates to what they're talking about I'm not sure.

Also, if you're wondering who "Steve Smith" is, he was a hockey player who scored on his own net.

Teeb 12-03-2005 09:46 PM

Has anyone heard "Curse of the MTV punks," as it's called on soulseek? It's them live in '95 (this may or may not be true, but it's before LTMR came out) and it's hillarious.

"**** you! **** you!...can we still stay at your house tonight?"

joeybadoey 12-04-2005 10:12 PM

No I haven't seen that but I'd love to. Do you think you could send it to me on MSN?

Thanks for that last posting, it makes alot more sense now. I still don't get this part though "yeah, jesus saves! gretzky scores! the workers slave. the rich get more."

sketchyjoe 12-05-2005 04:39 AM

Isn't it fairly self-explanatory?

lynch_me 12-05-2005 07:09 AM

I think so. Just peice it together.
