Why are they realeasing a second Greatest Hits when Guns N' Roses has only had 4 albums?
The record company (Geffen) is trying to recoop money they plunged into Chinese Democracy (about 13 million or so).

blue3 12-03-2005 06:42 PM

Yeah, it's a Best Of or something. Who cares.
Pretty ignorant to give Slash all the credit there, pal. Not saying Axl made the band what it was either because that would also be ignorant. Axl, Slash, and Izzy made Guns what it was, everybody else was replaceable (albeit Duff did make some important contributions).
Duff is awesome. Axl, Izzy, Slash and Duff are GNR. Um, Steven too.

Kyle 12-04-2005 03:34 PM

I only notice Duff if I'm concentrating on the music, but when I do some of his bass lines are really good.

blue3 12-04-2005 04:01 PM

I like playing SCOM on bass. I love Loaded's "Dark Days" album.

i foudn this interesting article.
Many people have noticed that Amazon.com is now listing "Chinese Democracy" among the GN'R albums:
Audio CD (December 31, 2025)
Label: (label name not provided)
ASIN: B000CCBC6W

Amazon had this to say when asked about the release:

Our latest information indicates that "Chinese Democracy" has not yet been released and the expected release date is not known. Our suppliers have supplied the 2025 release date simply as a stand-in until they have more definite information.

As soon as an actual release date has been determined for this item, we will add that information to our web site.

---

You can see the listing here. Sometimes it might say "Welcome To The Jungle" as the album title. This might be an older listing. Try clearing your browser's cache if that happens.

At this moment it's not known why Amazon is listing the album since the album's actual release date is still unknown

news update. a gnr tribute album is being relased it is all instrumental involing the cello, vilons. here is the article
"Hated N’ Worshipped. Pompous N’ Talented. Wild N’ Reclusive. Confrontational N’ Paranoid. Guns N’ Roses. A band fueled and torn by extremes, Guns N’ Roses started as a gang of street toughs and became the biggest band in the world. Their debut album, Appetite for Destruction, is a raw nerve of emotion and performance. Despite its slow rise to the top of the charts, Appetite proved to be an instant classic. The subsequent Use Your Illusion albums found GNR successfully exploring the peaks of rock grandeur and valleys of base excess.
At the height of their creative powers, Guns N’ Roses began to incorporate lush and complex textures into their songs. The String Quartet Tribute to Guns N’ Roses continues to explore the epic soundscapes first heard on such songs as “November Rain” and “Don’t Cry.” Emotive cellos and violins take the emotional essence of each song to transcendent levels of poignancy. Fans of Guns N’ Roses will cherish this unique collection of fantastic tracks. " www.vitaminrecords.com/web/page.asp?pgs=product&catid=20&id=965

mbenshoof4917 01-03-2006 07:48 PM

Yeah, I would believe that but I've heard a "release date" so many goddamn times, i'm getting fed up with it.

blue3 01-03-2006 08:11 PM

So I guess that GNR best of CD wasn't released.. yet.

6stringed 01-03-2006 08:51 PM

we never will know if they actually get around to it. lol

blue3 01-04-2006 03:14 AM

Yeah, it does.. Not many fans here though.

blackthorne 01-04-2006 06:46 AM

http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/upcoming_releases/slash_about_chinese_democracy.html for real this time? i hope it is and i hope after all this time it is actually good

Kyle 01-04-2006 06:51 AM

Yeah I read about that. I'm way past getting my hopes up at these little announcements now, If it comes out then great, but if not it doesn't matter to me. Why the hell would Slash know anything about the status of the album...?

blue3 01-14-2006 11:52 PM

Uh, nice pictures.

podbassist 01-14-2006 11:58 PM

good job with the info. yeah i love guns n roses been listenin to em since i ws born, and im not joking, appetite for destruction came out the year i was born and my mom used to sing sweet child o mine to me. but ive always liked them and if they would of stayed together and axl wouyld have calmed down on his control issues they could have been the best band ever. well as long as they didnt put anything out like g n r lies or the spaghetti incident.

blue3 01-15-2006 12:07 AM

GNR Lies was good. So was Spaghetti Incident. It's just not as good as the others.

blackthorne 01-15-2006 02:59 AM
I posted that about four posts ago
oh sorry

Kyle 01-15-2006 03:36 AM

Wow, Why must Axl insist on looking like a complete Asshole. I have always liked the whole redneck beard thing, but the dreadlocks and hockey/american football shirts have to go.
well as long as they didnt put anything out like g n r lies or the spaghetti incident.
G n' R lies is amazing, has some of my favorite tracks (Mama Kin, Patience, One in a million). I'd admit I don't like the Spaghetti Incedent that much though even though it does have a handfull of good songs.

Kyle 01-15-2006 04:08 AM
The Spaghetti Incident? is OK; I have to be in the right mood to like it. Last night I wasn't, and it sucked. Lies is great, though, as a collection of tracks thrown together in a semi-hurry.

OK, this doesn't relate to Gn'R too much, except that they're one of the best modern cock bands and I was introduced to them through the GnR boards, but Buckcherry's new album is absolutely sensational.
I love returning to Guns n' Roses after not listening to them for ages, just got all tracks on Itunes shuffle. Locomotion is playing right now, I'm loving it.

/downloads some Buckcherry.

Kyle 01-15-2006 04:21 AM
Locomotion? You're gonna be in for a huge surprise when 'I Should Be So Lucky' comes on next  I listened to UYI 2 for the first time in ages yesterday. Awesome.
, We all need a little Kylie in our lives. UYI2 was always my favorite GnR Album, I love AFD, but UYI2 was more diverse and has all my favorite epic tracks on. It's all about Estranged :D

NP: I should be so Lucky

Kyle 01-15-2006 01:28 PM

hey sorry to double post, but I was wndering if anyone could suggest some Guns n' Roses songs to play on guitar. I have the complete tab book (only volume 2) which contains the songs beginning with M-Z, I got it for Christmas and want to put it to good use. I'm only really a beginner on guitar, so which songs are the easiset and most fun to play. It doesn't have to begin with M-Z..I can always use internet tab whilst I still can.

nobodyblossomsforever 01-15-2006 01:38 PM

/applauds

Awesome FA man, I can see you really did your research. They aren't my favorite band in particular, but I listen to them now and then, and they always get me going. :thumb:

blue3 01-15-2006 03:00 PM

Patience is pretty easy on guitar.

guns_n_roses=Slash+Axl 01-15-2006 04:09 PM

man axl... sure has grown somewhat of a beard. i though he ditched his dreads.

blue3 01-15-2006 10:07 PM

Yeah, what he said. SCOM is fun to play on guitar. GNR tab books here are so expensive. Around 40 CA dollars, which is a rip off.

FruscianteFan08 01-15-2006 10:11 PM

Guns N' Roses was probably the best band to come out of the 80's. I admire Slash's work more than almost any other guitarist

blue3 01-15-2006 10:18 PM

Even Frusciante?!

Kyle 01-16-2006 01:08 PM
Sometimes I agree, but both the Illusions have too much crap on them to elevate above AFD.

For guitar songs: Everything on Lies is pretty straightforward. Otherwise, You Ain't The First, It's So Easy, Think About You. Aside from the leads, most of GnR's stuff is very straightforward, more punk than metal.
Yeah, Illusions 1 definatley has more filler than 2 though. I suppose I agree, AFD is definately the best solid album for it's consistency but as far as excluded tracks go UYI2 takes the biscuit.

Thanks for the song suggestions, I will give them a try tomorrow when I have some free time. I got the book for Christmas so I didnt have to pay anything for it :p

It feels good to actually discuss the band, this thread is used more as a news update thread.

blue3 01-16-2006 10:09 PM

There's not much news to talk about either..

I borrowed a GNR tab book from the library and had it for months. My dad made me return it though. Good luck with learning songs and whatever.

Kyle 01-17-2006 08:13 AM
Remind me to update you all on the Adler's Appetite situation later; it's hilarious. Also there's a rumour circulating that Axl and Zack de la Rocha will be on the cover of March's Rolling Stone w/ interviews.
I heard that he sacked the line-up, but don't pay much attantion to what is going on with them. I have a few songs on my computer, they seem alright but nothing special.

That would be quality if Rolling Stone got an interview, I'd love to read that as I really don't know what's going on in his head. I guess Zack and Axl are two of the most influential frontmen their have been, but they just sort of dissapeared.
http://www.mygnr.com/news/2005/20050104.html
I remember seeing this a while back. The Nirvana one sounds so appealing, you get a picture of a naked baby, and then when you turn it on you get Courtney Love Shouting at you...

Kyle 01-18-2006 09:42 AM

awesome, I have always wondered what that session with VR would have sounded like.

Hey Spat Out Plath, I was just checking news on my usual GnR news site and they made a reference to your news article on Sputnik. you're like totally famous.

blue3 01-23-2006 03:00 PM

Haha.. yeah, wow, he's so famous now.

Kyle 01-23-2006 03:36 PM

He probably won't re-appear on MX again though, he'll be too busy having lunch with Slash and doing various other famous person activities.

BeaZ 01-24-2006 06:18 AM

Has anyone heard of Gn'R songs called Strip Bar or Marc Walkin? A friend of mine just sent them to me and according to him they are supposed to be one Chinese Democracy.

They are really bad but it's definately Axl singing so yeah... Anyone heard of them? I doubt they are for CD.

Kyle 01-24-2006 06:24 AM

BeaZ 01-24-2006 06:35 AM

Another friend. Marc Walkin is better quality than Strip Bar but neither song is overly good.

Kyle 01-24-2006 06:42 AM
Another friend. Marc Walkin is better quality than Strip Bar but neither song is overly good.
At most, they are provbably just a few lacklustre demos which will never make the album. I have never heard those tracks mentioned in suggested tracklists e.c.t

StreetlightRock 01-24-2006 06:48 AM

Did you manage to get your hands on that Izzy album you were looking for a while back?
