-   -   Worlds worst guitar solo. (http://www.sputnikmusic.com/forums/showthread.php?t=263624)

id552 01-31-2005 01:45 PM

Yeah, it is subjective. But, I think it is a fact that a solo should fit a song.

Han Tytje 01-31-2005 01:47 PM

I think Rammstein - America is the worst solo i've ever heard... It's just pure crap!

Grondahl 01-31-2005 01:57 PM

The guitar solo in DMV by Primus is the worst I've heard. It's horrible.

orangeacid 01-31-2005 04:07 PM
Simple doesn't mean bad..Look at most of Frucante's solos.

Most of Slipknot's solos suck.
Thats kinda true... Slipknots solos (all like, 3 of them) are incredebly technical but don't sound all that hot. The vermillion solo is very complex but apart from a snippet at the end, to the average person just sounds like a load of crap.

destroyerXofXsenses 02-09-2005 08:24 PM

anything my buddy will do when he tries to show off......he sucks

chimp_spanner 02-09-2005 08:42 PM

There are so many technically bad solos out there that it would be impossible to pick one as being the "worst". To me, the worst solos are the ones that are made out to even be a solo, when really it's just another crappy one note riff...but really high up, as in Teen Spirit (not picking exclusively on Nirvana by the way, just saying).

I was gunna say that solos out of context are also really bad, but at the end of the day, it's like...a halfway treat, and even if it's totally un-needed within the context of the song, I'd be dissapointed if there was nothing to look forward to at all!

hafez 02-09-2005 08:43 PM

RHCP- zephyr song

hell_is_4_hobos 02-18-2005 04:39 AM

please dont hate me but i think some dreamtheater solos sound really out of place like they wrote it with out listening to the song, also this kid i know wrote a solo so bad that his younger brother in the band had a go at him and the other guitarists and bassist and drummer all left the band.

hell_is_4_hobos 02-18-2005 04:50 AM
I can't believe the stupidity in some of these ****ing forums. I could maybe understand if you were talking about some of those stupid hair bands that didn't put any heart into their **** but we got all these ****ing idiots dissing cobain or saying "it sucks its too fast or too slow or too simple" get a ****in life and quite trying to judge other peoples art. why don't you talk about something constructive rather than judging other peoples music and trying to express you stupid ****in opinion like its a fact.
of course we judge their art thats why we listen to it and its why they make it if they are worried that some people wont like it then they would never get anywhere. its like going to an art gallery and saying you cant critisize any of the paintings because its not constructive. and how exactly are we supposed to be constructive...well i think mr cobain should really have...but kirk hammet just wasnt doing what i would have...!!! for every post about a bad solo on this forum i bet theres a hundred people who like it so there stop being so angry.

These called modulations or something like that, they are MEANT to be out of key and out of contest . Very liitle ammount of musicians can write that sort of things it has to be somehow linked to the piece but when you hear it you think its not.

IheartSP 02-18-2005 05:16 AM

Metallica - One
Metallica - Master of Puppets

Hammet doesn't know about melody but shhhhh don't tell him.

Iron Maiden^666^ 02-18-2005 05:52 AM
Smoke on the Water's solo disgraces the awesome intro.
you discrace yourself

Biancazzurri 02-18-2005 05:52 AM

indeed

YDload 02-18-2005 01:18 PM

I hate when people try to defend Kurt Cobain by saying that people who diss him only like really fast and complex solos. It's as if there's no middle ground! Personally, I prefer something SLOW and complex, like what Clapton, Santana, Gilmour, and such were famous for.

Shred Danson 02-18-2005 01:55 PM

Although I love Krisiun, I'm gonna have to say that their solos are pretty horrible...

3FingeredHoek 02-18-2005 03:17 PM

Joe Satriani - Echos.
Everyone needs to shut the F*** up about Tom Morello. His name does not even BELONG in this post. Think about it: he's gotten guitarist of the year at least 3 times. He started at around the same time as Tool, and formed Rage Against the Machine, a band that, even though they have since broken up, revolutionized the rock genre. The solos he chooses to construct for his songs fit with the flow of the song. Morello knows how to make his guitar pierce right into the soul, and he can pry out the deepest of emotions. His work with Audioslave only cements that theory, in that he can work around the amazing voice talent of Chris Cornell, and play solos that invoke sadness and loneliness, rather than his style with Rage, which was basically fight music.

Tom Morello is one of the best guitarists out there, and he could shred any of you f***ers in half if he wanted to. He chooses to use effects and different guitar techniques, and i choose to faithfully listen to them.
**** FuC*n right mate! One of the most original guitarists of all time...!!

DuncMaster 02-18-2005 07:32 PM
whaaaaat?! that may not be the hardest solo to play it sounds awesome!
i don't like gueriila radio...or most tom morello solos for that matter due to the effects which ruin them..cept sleep now in the fire
also the solo to porch by pearl jam is kinda poor
You don't like his solo in guerilla radio which is prettty genius, yet you like the one in sleep now in the fire which imo isnt that gd...Great song but the solo isnt nethin special...i mean, the main riff is 100 times better than solo.

I_love_cheesy_poofs 02-18-2005 08:24 PM

I hate the fast fingerpicking metallica one solo, metallica kicks *** but that just sounds like crap

I concur, I think he focuses too much on his speed in solos.

You'd be suprised at the large amount of people who are.

Kirk Hammett rocks balls and you know it.

RiceMonster 02-18-2005 08:52 PM

Kirk is nothing special to me. He's done some cool solo's, but nothing special.
k buddy thats a ****in awesome solo what the hell are you tlaking about
Smells Like Teen Spirit's solo isn't the worst, but come on man it's just the main riff over and over.

Worst solo I've ever heard that I can remember is Alive by Mike McReady. Longest, most boring thing ever.

ultimaterocker 02-19-2005 12:11 PM
You'd be suprised at the large amount of people who are.
exactly how many other people out there are or have been in the/one of the best Metal bands of all time and written some of the greatest songs ever?
plus if you think he concentrates too much on speed i bet he could still kick your *** at melodic solos any day of the week of course you'll never get the chance to try because hes in metallica and your just some guy on a forum

WarlockMan4389 02-21-2005 12:02 PM

GnRguitarist 02-21-2005 12:15 PM

Yngtchie Blacksteen 02-21-2005 01:29 PM

John Petrucci - John & Theresa Solo Spot

Claudio The Monstar 02-21-2005 03:59 PM

Darkness 02-21-2005 04:04 PM
any solo from metallicas new songs.
There are no solos in Metallicas new songs, this is one of the reasons people insult them.
