I think The Blood Brothers have an indie/screamo sound, and FBTMOF is more metal/hardcore.

cbmartinez 11-04-2004 03:06 PM

Blood Brothers have a lot of screamo influence, but enough to be placed in the screamo genre. I had an argument about FBTMOF with tornpictures three pages back. I think they should fall under emo personally, but torn and Dfelon don't think so.

Iris 11-04-2004 03:08 PM

FBTMOF do have some "emo" influence, but I have only noticed it in a select few songs.

cbmartinez 11-04-2004 03:13 PM

Their first album is really close to emo on my opinion. The new one, as you said, is much more metal and hardcore influenced.

Iris 11-04-2004 04:26 PM

Yeah, I remember reading somewhere that they were going for a more metal and hardcore influenced album in their latest release.

cbmartinez 11-04-2004 10:10 PM

Sorry, DFelon: God Of Emo
Time to educate yourself. http://www.fourfa.com

I suspect you didn't read the first few pages of this thread?
Uh... You guys keep saying emo stands for emocore but then why does the site you guys keep on recommending say it stands for emotional? Because Emo and emotional are too totally different things. Emo is a genre but all bands are emotional.

BuddyBigsby 11-05-2004 12:31 AM

Don't take the term so literally.

The_One 11-05-2004 12:36 AM

Ok then, thanks for clearing that up. But if the site you guys keep recommending doesn't even have the right definition for emo then what's the point...?

Nevermind. Have a Nice day  .

BuddyBigsby 11-05-2004 12:49 AM

In my defense, I think I linked that site once.

tornpictures 11-05-2004 08:18 AM
Don't lump torn into a category with people who actually have authority on the subject.
Hahaha!

That's terrible. You're so nu-emo.

BuddyBigsby 11-05-2004 10:38 PM

Oh, so its not called hardcore anymore?

Sep 11-06-2004 05:24 AM

Does anyone have a link to one or a few of Pg99's mp3s?
The ones on Soulseek don't work for me.

Happymeal 11-06-2004 08:02 AM

Only a few songs, but try http://www.level-plane.com/html/index.html or at http://www.hxcmp3.com

tornpictures 11-06-2004 10:38 AM

Probably on the Robotic Empire website.

Magic Bullet are doing represses of Doc #7.. It could be #8 or even #9. The 12" with the woman on the cover.

100 pressed on blue vinyl, if you want one, hit me up.. $10 Ppd for the blue one. Super rare.

BuddyBigsby 11-06-2004 12:48 PM

I got some Sep. Hit me up on AIM (whothenow) or Soulseek (BuddyBigsby)

...NO! must resist, giving money... to torn...

e p 11-06-2004 02:20 PM

Hi.

I dont necessarily like emo but Im compiling a resource and could use some help.

Would any of you guys know of any bass-oriented emo/screamo bands. Not necessarily bands where the bass is in the front, just bands that would be worthwhile to check out for bass players.

Thanks

BuddyBigsby 11-06-2004 03:18 PM

Wrong genre if you're looking for instrumental virtuosity.

cbmartinez 11-06-2004 03:39 PM

The Blood Brothers do some interesting stuff with the bass.

tornpictures 11-10-2004 02:39 AM

Haha, and they call you the 'emo authority.'

Most emo bands could definitely play their instruments well, like the Saetia guitarist (for a better-known example).
The chords played aren't just normal power chords, they're mostly octave chords, using 4+ strings.

Emo songs mostly follow a pattern: Intro, intro intro, buildup, explosion, buildup, explosion.

Very little vocals in alot of songs.

Now, for the bass: The Red Scare. I know they're more of a hardcore band, but the bass plays a big part in most of their songs. '12 Years Past' is a good example.
omg, you guys, are just lame, you have NO clue what screamo or emo is, and underoath IS SCREAMO! morons, i'll give a list of good emo/screamo bands,

Screamo:
Hidden In Plain View
Finch
Underoath

Emo:
brand new
the early november
straylight run
taking back sunday
Coheed & cambria
Matchbook romance

thats not all, im just not in the mood to think right now, but thats just to give you some examples
Dude, you will be flamed for the rest of your life. now im 12, and i know what real screamo is. finch is pretty much pop-punk, underoath are like emotional soft-core, something like that. I haven't heard that much of hidden in plain view, but they sound pop-punk to me. screamo is you and i, off minor, saetia, and the other bands they put there. u just got beat by a 12 year old music snob. by the way does anyone have any cowboys become folk heroes mp3's?

Happymeal 11-14-2004 02:51 PM

screamo isn't a genre.

Sut Suo 11-16-2004 03:19 PM

Anyone heard of emery? They kick a lot of ***.
I'd have to say they're my favorite emo/screamo band. Heck, they're my favorite band all
together.

BuddyBigsby 11-16-2004 05:11 PM

This is like Hardcore/Metalcore Education Junior... actually, its more like a spin-off. Some of the same characters, but everything else is different.

cbmartinez 11-16-2004 08:24 PM

Hahaha. It's so like a sitcom. You have the cast and now the spinoffs. We so need a laugh track.

BuddyBigsby 11-16-2004 11:52 PM

And remember, like I mentioned a long time ago, Gotkookie is the annoying retarded kid next door.

Bartender 11-17-2004 12:06 AM

What's torn, then?

BuddyBigsby 11-17-2004 12:09 AM

DepressedHighSchoolStudent 11-17-2004 06:56 PM

Sorry to change the subject but does anyone know any Emo songs to woo a girl with? I started a thread like this in the punk forums and got the hell bashed outta me. I didnt know there was an Emo thread.

Also, anyone know any acoustic Boxcar Racer songs other than "There Is?" I just recently started to listen to them and dont know a lot about them.

Iris 11-17-2004 06:57 PM

If you came in here to find refuge from bashing, with that post, you won't.

DepressedHighSchoolStudent 11-17-2004 06:58 PM

Why?
Let me refraise the first part. I want a romantic song to ask her out to

Iris 11-17-2004 07:00 PM

A bit better.

Box Car Racer is not emo, and the people in here will let you know it.
