well Ellefson was a canidate to audition for Metallica but never did to my memory.
anyone else realize recently what ripping songs "recipe for hate...warhorse" and "losing my sense" are...i put this album on often and it always suprises me how these two are such neglected tracks. While i still feel "promises" is TWNAH's shining moment, these two get little if no recgonition. Great lyrics and leads by Al and Dave. |
isnt menza gonna tour with them this time round?
|
6 days to go! -cant wait till the new album comes out
jason newstead in megadeth, that'd b funni, dave and jason could exchange " i hate metallica" stories
I can't afford it :upset: I have 130 $ to live on til mid-december |
isnt menza gonna tour with them this time round?
why yes he is :) , he had to audition to get his spot back! Dave sent him a copy of the new cd and Nick said he fell in love with it and made sure he had all of his chops back to impress Mustaine, im glad to see him back! I was lucky to see him one of the three times i saw them, even though DeGrasso was amazing live as well. |
So... They are offically touring again? I had heard about speculation on Dave's part but never a final answer.
I gotta see them, can't live without never seeing one of my biggest influences live. |
from what i hear there will be quite an extensive tour for The System Has Failed, not sure when it will be starting though.
and the album is way better than Metallica's "return" as this is actually a decent metal album, not all songs are great though, but the best song on the cd, Blackmail The Universe. |

I especially like the first solo where it sounds like a spanish guitar of some sort and then on the next solo its on electric....truly deadly. That heavy part before the next part of the song is solid too. "Losing my senses" is good too, very under-rated again. I still cant believe people dont give that album more respect. I agree "promises" is one of the album's best. But my favourite is Dread and The Fugitive Mind, that song is one of the reasons that got me into Megadeth big time. When I heard it on the radio as a promo for capitol punishment, I was blown away, that double-bass part did it for me. And then 4 and 1/2 years later, I end up owning every 'Deth album. |
Hmm troubles in megadeth :S but some great songs like my last wors and tornado of souls
|
Hi, i ma new megadeth fan.
I never got into them for 2 reasons 1) I hated the spelling of deth 2) The only song id heard was crap (forgot its name though) But recently i gave them another try and now im in love with the bastards. |
They will tour.
But the new album sucks. The 3 songs alot of people have heard already (Kick The Chair, Blackmail The Universe and Die Dead Enough) are the best on it. It really does suck, by st. anger proportions. And ellefeson is sueing :(
Dude, how would you know what sucks and what doesn't? Especially when the CD hasen't been released yet. Also, the best song I've heard from the CD thus far has been The Scorpion(which is on The System Has Failed Promo CD along with the rest you quoted...). Even then, I've only heard those 4 songs out of 11 on the CD and I can't judge the rest of the CD. Although, from what I heard, I think it sounds as good as Risk, but not as heavy as their earlier CDs, but still good. Don't judge unless you've heard the ENTIRE thing, and even then, don't judge from one listening--some of the greatest music has to be heard a few times to really feel the music. |

Yeah I never used to pay attention to them and now I love them, go buy Rust in Peace right now. |

very much so. i brought the album with me tonight when i was working (pizza delivery) and as usual i always love it more and more. People also leave out the wonderful lyrical aspect of Dave Mustaine, TWNAH has some wonderful well thought out lines that people overlook...espically on the tracks we talked about. TWNAH is an album that did have to grow on me, as when it came out i was still in high school and stuck in the "its its not fast i dont like it" phase lol, but as time has ran its course i find myself ejoying songs by my favourite bands that i onced used to skip over on the albums, Promises being a key one. i bought Cryptic Writings when it first came out and ive been a diehard fan ever since :) im glad you enjoy those more obscure tracks, i tire of people praising Rust In Peace over and over when they have so much more to them than just one album. |
rust in peace IS a great cd but i would recommend peace sells over it.peace sells is just an excellent cd.not a bad song on it(alot of people dont like i aint superstitous, but me personally,i love it).not to mention 3 of megadeths finest songs-wake up dead, devils island, and peace sells-are all on it.great track from beginning to end.

I hear ya, some people on hear are saying that the new album the TSHF isnt that great....they probably listened to it once through if that. I remember getting CTE, and thinking the same, but then after a few listens it turned out to be solid. ALL music takes time to get use to and like. And ya, Rust may be my favourite, but really ALL their albums (including Risk) are at the least, good. |
the man is a lyrical genius  :thumb:
****ing A! I really don't understand peoole who claims his lyrics are an atrocity (sp) |
my personal favorite:
Military intelligence, 2 words combined that cant make sence" |

I actually like that song it has some killer parts to it. I think Dave deliberately made the song that way, and I think he said somewhere that it was some kind of tribute to Diamond Head. |
Dave is definetly the lyrical/musical master, he's written basically every Megadeth song by himself and they're **** good.
|
i love all the lyrics to Peace Sells too
"what'dya mean i hurt your feelings, didnt know you had any feelings" "what'dya mean im not kind, just not your kind" :chug: |
"what'dya mean im not kind, just not your kind" :chug:
Coolest line in the history of mankind |
I love in R.I.P. the song when he's like "Bomb shelters filled to the brim...Survival such a silly whim" god i love that song.
|
^^^ I think that's Rust In Peace...Polaris.
|
Hey its september 11th, I wonder if dave realized that his new political album (based on what ive seen of the artwork) is being released around the same time as 9/11
|
They'll never come to India.......<sob>
i don't think they'll come to canada either....but if they did i'd be there |
Countdown to Extinction was a more mainstream album, but anyone think "Ashes in your Mouth" should have been on Rust In Peace? The song is hands down miles ahead of any other CTE track.
i have to agree....ashes in your mouth sounds kinda outta place on cte |
How many people have the original Megadeth albums, how many have the remasters, and how many have both?
I have some of the originals, Peace Sells, Rust in Peace, SFSGSW, CTE and Youthansia.
i only have CTE....i have cryptic writings if it's being reastered. |
You either have it or you dont... theirs no if's involved

Probably intentionall. I'd bet that he wanted to release it ON 9/11 but they made him push it forward a little to avoid any backlash. |
Dave Mustaine sucks compared to Metallica
|
Well, got The System Has Failed in the post today and I must say that first impressions are quite good. It's not really the return to Rust In Peace that Kick The Chair seemed to hint at many months ago, I would liken it to The World Needs A Hero. But yeh, so far... :thumb:

MASSIVE BUMP FROM PAGE 6!!
ICED EARTH Bassist Quits To Join MEGADETH ICED EARTH bassist James MacDonough has officially left the band to join MEGADETH as their touring bassist. MacDonough's statement on the matter (as posted at Iced-Realm.de) is as follows: "A while back I had heard that MEGADETH might need a bassist, so I contacted them via email and much later got a response, to my suprise. Before I knew it, I was on a conference call with Dave [Mustaine]. I sent in some video of me playing a couple MEGADETH songs and I got a call a couple of days later. Everything with ICED EARTH has been up in the air as far as touring, so I told [ICED EARTH mainman] Jon [Schaffer] about this when I got the first email back, and being my older bro, he told me to go for it. Unfortunately, I won't be able to play with ICED EARTH in the future because this will be a very lengthy tour, but we'll see what happens down the road. I am keeping in touch with Jon and maybe something in the future will happen. "MEGADETH has always been one of my favorite bands and I have a lot of respect for Dave and what he's done for music. I feel honored to have been picked for this endeavor." MEGADETH's lineup for the upcoming tour will be as follows: Dave Mustaine – Guitar/Vocals Glen Drover (EIDOLON, ex-KING DIAMOND) – Guitar Nick Menza – Drums James MacDonough (ex-ICED EARTH) - Bass |
