|
haha holy crap, sorry that was supposed to say 36 not 16
also you dont do quotes huh
36 would put a huge limit on pickup placement, and very difficult to play up there, but is possible I do quotes, just through email after deciding on most of the design... |
i dont mean to be a pest but youd do a quote even if could in no way buy one?
|
i dont mean to be a pest but youd do a quote even if could in no way buy one?
Sure, a ballpark quote. Tell me everything you want including

Top wood type
Core wood type
Pickups
Controls and preamp
Number of body lams
Neck wood types
Number of neck lams
Number of strings
Number of frets
Type of tuners
Type of bridge
|
Update: Did walnut inlay dots on fretboard (can't really see them right in picture), drilled tuner holes, bolted on the neck.
New Pic, almost there once I finish winding the pickups I have to install them then finish sand everything for finish. |
would you take on a wood core project? like have an alder core and have a curly koa 'shell'?
|
would you take on a wood core project? like have an alder core and have a curly koa 'shell'?
What do you think I would use for the core, other than wood? |
SoM how much do you charge for necks? im going to need one for my Oak Tele haha, i don't know what wood yet but id like a ballpark "range" i guess
|
What do you think I would use for the core, other than wood?
very true, but do you see what im saying? can it be done? EDIT: ofck! on a related/unrelated note i have an insane amazing idea for some mass produced guitars |
very true, but do you see what im saying? can it be done?
EDIT: ofck! on a related/unrelated note i have an insane amazing idea for some mass produced guitars
The core would be made of a custom 2 mile long piece of rope licorice that comes out of a dispenser on the guitar that looks like the output jack but is actually a dispenser. |

EDIT: ofck! on a related/unrelated note i have an insane amazing idea for some mass produced guitars
I guess I really have no clue what you're saying. Unless you're asking if I can build it the same way I always do...
SoM how much do you charge for necks? im going to need one for my Oak Tele haha, i don't know what wood yet but id like a ballpark "range" i guess
I've never sold just a neck. I guess it would be between $200 and $400 depending on just what you're looking for. - SoM |

I think he's more interested in the 2 woods he suggested. Or, he wants to encase the guitar/bass ############### #~~~~~~~~~~~~# #~~~~~~~~~~~~# ############### Where # is the koa and the ~ is the alder, as opposed to just having layers of wood glued together... ############### ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ############### |

(refinish) here we go- i was a bit rushed with school and all, but i think it came out great. 2 more due to picture limit This forum requires that you wait 30 seconds between posts. Please try again in 7 seconds. yes, you CAN see through the body, all the pups run at once, the bridge IS grounded with spare wire and hot glue, and there's a patch on the headstock where the paint almost came off. |
good job jorge. you should try to make it fade more smoothly between the blue and grey. i need to see it in person.

I just started finding parts for my Maestro Sample & hold clone project! It's ust an envellope filter with a "random setting" that sounds like a wah pedal rocking back and forth randomly. Frank Zappa used one. I want to o all out fancy on it and try making graphics for it. What are some things I could use to get graphics on it, and ideas for the graphics?

they have a lot of information on finishing enclosures , building pedals in general, and doing art work. if that envellope filter is going to be your first pedal, i'd recomend starting with something a little simpler for starters such as a fuzz pedal just to practice and learn from the mistakes that any first timer is bound to make. |

That pick guard looks a little rough though. Be careful playing it or you could end up with one of your fingers falling through that hole :amaze: |
yea, that pickguard is a mess. the only metalworking tools i have are a pair or sheet metal shears and some drill bits (with the drill, of course). needless to say, it'd probably look better if i had just gotten a silver pickguard, but since i don't play too much guitar i don't even bother.i just hate how spraycans aren't very accurate.
it's also got some cracking & checking on some parts- which i like. maybe a bit of ebony stain rubbed in will look better. |

there's an easier way to do burst finishes. i don't remember the site i read it at, but you just need a cardboard cutout of the body suspended over the body, and you spray around the edges and vary the angles to get the burst in.

It's right here :) http://www.projectguitar.com/tut/burst.htm |
yep, thats it... i also saw another one for doing bursts on stomp box enclosures. same exact concept, just doing it on a square box.
|
i was actually considering that, but i wansn't going after a 'burst' per se. i was going after this http://www.liquid-fire.co.uk/musegear/musegear/chromemanson01.jpg. but seeing as it's a strat and has a pickguard, i decided to wing it.
