hopefully the media doesnt kill it like they did w/ AI.

It went a couple of miles from Warning to AI, though. not so gradual.

Oz Rembrandt 06-05-2006 03:08 PM

I'd love it to sound like Nimrod. that album owns hard.

Get Fighted 06-05-2006 03:10 PM
red dragon was pretty good, I loved the william blake dragon tatoo, that was pretty intense. I saw 1/2 of hannibal. I saw the movies backwards ( kind of) so I didn't know all the "history" to it. did jodie foster die in hannibal?
It was a different actor, however Clarice was shot but did not die.

Im going to make a Hannibal thread in the media center, so more discussion can be made :)

nag*with*a*gun 06-05-2006 03:11 PM

okay just wondering because she didn't show up in red dragon. Ill be on it...

dude oz you own! I love nimrod the same as dookie!

Of course they're going to. It's Green Day, they'll pick it up whatever it is.

nag*with*a*gun 06-05-2006 03:20 PM

dont crush my hopes deadbolt.

I wonder if Gd likes being in the spotlight? Its kind of like $ vs. reputation...

Bad Blood 06-05-2006 03:22 PM

Haha, what hope is there?

nag*with*a*gun 06-05-2006 03:26 PM
Hostel has nothing to do with Tarintino, it was directed by Eli Roth, and Tarintino slapped his name on it so it'd get attention.

Ah right. Well it was crap. :thumb:

Oz Rembrandt 06-05-2006 04:12 PM

Never seen it...

I reckon Green Day are probably loving the fame. I would be.

Who said I own? Its so true.

Ross 06-05-2006 04:18 PM

You own me.

Of course Green Day are loving it. They always look so happy in any interviews or anything off-stage I see them in. I know I'd love it, I'm not so hXc that I forget that having money is really cool.

They got sick of being poor and "underground" is what I always think, so fair play to them "selling out".

pgm 06-05-2006 10:35 PM

I have no idea what the next album will sound like. I think it will have similarities to American Idiot, but won't be really that close. I think right now, they feel like they can do whatever they want.

As for selling out--yea, sort of, but not exactly. I mean Green Day are playing to huge crowds, but Green Day are still only taking rediculously small cuts. They try to keep prices low. If you compare what percentage Green Day takes with the percentage other bands (even Pearl Jam who fight so hard to keep tickets low) it's pretty amazing. I read somewhere that Billie Joe Armstrong takes home $10 when he plays a concert. I sure he has no expenses on tour, but $10?

yourstruly 06-05-2006 10:46 PM

Green Day are cool that way. They made have "sold out" ir whatever. But they didn't change as people even when their bank account balances did.

Also, on this interview I saw, Billie Joe said he was definately staying with the political stuff.

Get Fighted 06-06-2006 03:02 AM

They were bound to get huge one day. And Mike also said they've broke out of the shadow of Dookie.

yourstruly 06-06-2006 03:45 AM

what does he mean by the shadow of dookie?

Ross 06-06-2006 04:15 AM

Big things cast big shadows. Dookie was a big album.

Essentially they were known for Dookie being an awesome album for years, they wanted to be known for other albums too.

yourstruly 06-06-2006 04:29 AM

oh ok, yeah I see now. that's pretty cool. They are definately known for American idiot, alot of kids probably haven't heard of Dookie.

Untitled 06-06-2006 04:53 AM

Greenday Played a Bigger Venue on the international superhits tour then they did the AI tour around here.

So its not like they where relay unknown and just appeared on the scene, they have always been big.
oh ok, yeah I see now. that's pretty cool. They are definately known for American idiot, alot of kids probably haven't heard of Dookie.
I was wondering that. I don't feel like asking people because I hate music snobs. But they should really go back and listen to Green Day's older stuff. Part of the reason why American Idiot was able to become so huge was because of the reputation Green Day built from their earlier stuff, though. So I think at least some of the fans like their older stuff. The people who don't will probably drop off the Green Day band wagon at some point.

What venue was that?
One of the stadiums? Because the MEN arena is the largest indoor arena in Europe, so I don't know where they would have played in Manchester that was bigger. And they played two nights at the MEN arena on their last UK tour too.

billiejoe84 06-06-2006 12:56 PM

Old Trafford? Now THAT would be a big crowd. Except they don't put shows on there.

/saw them at Newcastle Arena on AI tour which was teh kewlness

/saw them at the MEN Arena on that tour, and then again at Milton Keynes

Milton Keynes was nearly a year ago. Such a fun day, I wish I could go again.

Dead Star 06-06-2006 01:15 PM

I never got to see them :upset:

nag*with*a*gun 06-06-2006 01:24 PM

uhh if I had been to milton keenes that would have been friggin awesome. usually there are pretty crap concerts but this year im going to see the warped tour

Yes, old trafford, but not the football ground, the cricket ground, which is right next to the football on, and the pitch is bigger, so more standing.

And they do, do shows there, because thats where i am seeing Foo Fighters in a few weeks.

Day after me. :p

yourstruly 06-06-2006 10:37 PM

I reckon it would be so mental playing crowds as big as the ones Green Day play. The speakers would have to be so loud.

Oz Rembrandt 06-07-2006 02:55 AM

/Saw them on International Superhits tour in 2001
/Leeds Fest 2004
/Newcastle Arena 2004

Those are my 3 times. The first was the best.

Ross 06-07-2006 03:56 AM

I was going to see them in newcastle, 2005. Sold my tickets and went skiing instead.

++profit

nag*with*a*gun 06-07-2006 12:46 PM
