It's like an average of 167 posts a day then, if you have 5000 posts over a 31 day period. or maybe i put 30 into the calculator. either way that's insane.

I'm just chilling at about 8,500. I'll reach the big 10k mark within a year or so.

Course, this is coming from someone who post maybe 10 times a week...if he reaaaly feels it.

What I don't get is why would someone explicitly try and want to achieve a certain post count? Who cares, it is just a number. Just post when you you want to say something. This is a place of communicaton and information not a place to show off how many posts you have made in a short space of time. Chances are if you have made a rediculous amount of posts in a short space of time you probably haven't said much that you truly feel, or said much that is actually relevant.
