I really hope I get to go to a Rush concert someday. Do you guys think that they will do another tour?
I sure hope so. But even if they don't I'm proud to say that I managed to see them at the Hartford Meadows in CT with 16th-row seats in a four-and-a-half-hour-long concert. :D |
I think they might be comin round my town soon, not sure.
wow, you have no ideaa wat imeant. im not talking about sound, a def monkey can tell their oposite. IM talking about concept of songs, lyrics, album covers, and so on. alex and wathisface are pretty oposite, but same skill level. metallica owes a lot of wat they do to rush.
They definitly don't have the same song concepts or same style lyrics and nobody owes any other band for album art. metallica is either angry or sad and depressing, Rush writes about fantasy and intellectual topics, mostly. Anybody can see that Rush had little impact on Metallica. So your friend is very wrong. |
Any word on a new album from the Rush guys? I always assumed that "Feedback" was going to be a bit of a placeholder instead of an actual full-length release.
Lifeson had better solo on this next one dammit. EDIT: I have to say, the episode "Rules are Rules" of "Al's Tiki Bar" on the Rush website is HYSTERICAL.
Remember kids, if gene and paul from kiss ever show up at your doorstep. Go tell your parents then set the house on fire! |

ahhh lucky bastard I wasn't a Rush fan when they first came around :( Some of my dad's friends (huge rush fans) said if they come around sometime they'll take me :-D |

I was on ticketmaster, and I see the name Rush. I finally check them out, I love them, and the concert had already taken place :upset: |
Listen to "Welcome Home" than listen to "Tom Sawyer" and try and tell me they didn't influence Tallica with part of that song.
I will personally say that "Tom Sawyer" didn't influence that song what-so-ever. Because, "Welcome Home" is a direct ripoff of the song "Rainbow Warriors" by Bleak house. It has the same acoustic passage and same style structure, not to mention James said they "borrowed" the stuff from an obscure band......it was only a matter of time before he was caught. anyway....Rush rules, Metallica does not :p |
I think they are all very good musicians but I don't like their songs.
|
vapor trails tour was all about making money cause peart was haveing difficulties or something, so probally not in the near future. unless you live in toronto..they do them their more often. But they may do some type of 40th or 50th aniverary tour. note the fact that 50th means their old....
Uh, No.... Peart JUst Decided that he wanted to comtinue playiong with the band and drumming after some Big, sad, Things in his family... Peart had 3 years of From Rush. |
My copy of Exit...stage left came today, fantastic album,
I can't believe how incredible Xanadu is... |
My copy of Exit...stage left came today, fantastic album,

Xanadu is a great song live, or studio.
They teased us with the intro when I saw them, but they didn't play the whole song. I was dissapointed. |

But I thought that song was off Hemispheres? I was dissapointed when they didn't play that part during the Rio dvd, they skip about 20 seconds into it |
on Rush in Rio you get this Great little Melodic Bass Intro, plenty of replacement enough for me :D
|
My copy of Exit...stage left came today, fantastic album,

closer to the heart is incredible
|
"A Farewell to Kings" is probably my favorite song off that album. I'll give you that "Closer to the Heart" and "Xanadu" are better songs, but the chorus of the title track is more memorable than either, to me at least.
Every member of Rush are musical geniuses. They all majored in music in college and they are incredible at their instruments.
You do know that peart never graduated highschool right? |
You do know that peart never graduated highschool right?
Peart is a very intelligent man, it seems like he never suffered from it, have you read any of his books? |
Peart is a genious. Has anyone seen the cover of Different Stages cd? All the math on it is him working out the placement of those things
|
Peart is VERY intelligent.
just reading his lyrics you can tell he is, but that's all I have read by him |
Obviously he's very intelligent. He writes about things that are interesting and he uses big words... That's hard to do at the same time.

/sarcasm? |
Nope :)
You do know that peart never graduated highschool right?
Oh yeah, because a basic Canadian education must mean that you're intelligent... Now that's sarcasm. |
Maybe he dropped out cause he didn't need it. He's obviously pretty brilliant.

umm I'm pretty sure that doesn't happen |
It was getting in the way of his music, maybe?
Trust me, Canadian high school is not very good. |
