 i was just about to comment on how the left owns the right, i think the right is more like TDS and that's why im a little off with it...If with teeth turns out like the left side of this beast i will be happy. Cheers for the reccomendation :thumb:

Kage 04-04-2005 04:32 PM

No worries, I think Right will come around for you. At first, I agreed that Left blew Right side out of the water, and I think that it is still the superior side and probably the single best disc NIN have ever released (with great competition, of course, not only from TDS but from Still (which I think would be to your liking)). But I think Left is the only disc that ever really hit me right off like that for NIN...the rest of the stuff had to grow on me, but once it did, it really did.

There's a lot of replay value, with so much going on in each song that you can always discover something new, which gives the material a good longevity. I still reccommend you give the other discs more of a chance to consume you. :thumb:

deejuks2 04-04-2005 04:33 PM

is the song "with teeth" a cover of the melvins' song of the same name? did they name an album after a cover song?

Kage 04-04-2005 04:34 PM

Short answer: No.

misunderstood 04-04-2005 07:04 PM

Has anyone heard "Home"? I was on some other board earlier and about two people said they'd found the song and that it was a pretty good one too. Anyway, i just finished watching the "And All That Could Have Been" dvd and dam n, i can't wait to see them in May.

Magicaltroll 04-04-2005 07:31 PM

No, I've only heard of "Home" recently...
Is it new or older and jsut never released or what?

misunderstood 04-04-2005 07:52 PM

It's a new song. It's going to be released only in Japan I think and will be included in the limited Hand That Feeds vinyl.

Mabelobe 04-05-2005 12:48 AM

Thanks for the CD review Kage...we are actually playing a show the day before the release on the 2nd, so we will be picking it up the next day hopefully...

Werny 04-05-2005 07:01 AM

Ruiner is my favourite NIN song.

I've been really getting into them tonight, he's definitely growing on me. Looking forward to With Teeth!

Carn 04-05-2005 08:48 AM

Nice album (p)review! I only have some bootleg recordings of a few songs and they are the more "rock" orientated onces, Im very happy to hear that the album is pretty dynamic overall

misunderstood 04-05-2005 09:44 PM

a while ago i was listening to Reznor host some UK radio show online and he was answering some interesting questions. When asked which one of his works he was most unsatisfied with he said "The Perfect Drug". Honestly, i guess i can say that is also one of my least favorite songs. Anyway, he played his favorite bands and that one song that is going to be on the "With Teeth" import, "Home". He also answered some stuff about his worse on-stage injuries, being banned from Nashville, and some other stuff. Here's the link if anyone is interested:

It was quite interesting to hear what Reznor likes. Just thought i'd put up a post about this.

Magicaltroll 04-05-2005 09:45 PM

Thanks :thumb:

Kage 04-05-2005 10:02 PM

There have been some leaks and some bootlegs made from live shows already. Go figure.

@misunderstood--Thanks for the link. As for Perfect Drug, I think that's a really cool song but I find it obvious that the usual time and meticulous dedication that Reznor normally puts into his songs is somehwhat lacking. The video for that is my favorite NIN video, though.

Carn, dynamics is the key word with this. You won't be dissapointed.

Less than a month for With Teeth

/pumps fist in air.

misunderstood 04-05-2005 10:22 PM

The only other song i've heard off of "With Teeth" besides "The Hand That Feeds" is "The Line Begins To Blur" (or is it "With Teeth"?)...not too sure. Anyway, they have it at this site: http://www.clickmusic.co.uk/Clickmusic_Web_Guide/Bands_and_Artists/N/Nine_Inch_Nails/

It's the only audio they have on there. I really didn't want to listen to it 'cause I want to be blown away at the listening party but I just couldn't help it. :upset:

Oh, and i agree with "The Perfect Drug" being a cool video...i actually like the video and the song...but just not one of my personal faves.

Kage 04-05-2005 10:26 PM

I've already been blown away at the listening party, and blown away I was. Trust me. But I'm still not downloading that song, so I can be blown away again on May 3rd. :)

Perfect Drug is good, but more of an experimental outlet I guess before The Fragile came out. Not an amazing song, but cool anyway.

Carn 04-06-2005 07:23 AM

@Madeyadams: I was referring to a concert bootleg, I have downloaded one and a few new songs were played ( With Teeth, the hand that feeds, love is not enough, you know what you are, home, the line begins to blur)

@Kage: Awesome..because I loved The Fragile because of the dynamics and layering

Magicaltroll 04-07-2005 09:00 PM

I downloaded a bootleg too :(
Actually my friend had it and told me, and I couldn't resist... But its great, it was the song With Teeth. It was great.

Kage 04-07-2005 09:09 PM
Late, but great album preview. :) Personally this is one of the album releases I'm most looking forward to this year, as I absolutely love The Downward Spiral and The Fragile, so if this combines their fast paced songs, with their slower, more relaxed ones better than they have done before, I really can't wait for it. Personally I think the first half ofThe Downward Spiral is my favourite collection of songs they've done so far, as the second half is a bit weaker, but that changes all the time.
Med, I didn't know you were an NIN fan. That's awesome. I think you'll really like this album, as a lot of it does somewhat reflect the first half of The Downward Spiral. Good things are in store.

Magicaltroll 04-09-2005 09:50 PM

Did anyone here go to a concert recently... or ever?
If recently, are the Dresden Dolls any good? If a long time ago, how awesome was it?

Kage 04-09-2005 10:00 PM

Dresden Dolls are really really weird, I've listened to their CD. One song will be dark, moody, the next will be upbeat and catchy. Overall, they're a pretty cool Alternative rock band.

Carn 04-11-2005 06:25 AM

I love them, I do have to say they are more suited for small club perfomances..excellent musicians tho, like already said, one of the more original things out there at this moment

Magicaltroll 04-11-2005 08:22 PM

Cool, I might check them out now. I've heard a few people that really don't like them so yeah, I wasn't sure whether or not to check them out.

Kage 04-11-2005 08:23 PM

It'd be worth it to check them out at least, they're pretty original.

misunderstood 04-11-2005 09:07 PM

I've got a couple of their songs and well, what can I say...they're quite different. I was listening to this song called "Coin Oriented Boy" (I think) and I was getting some weird looks from my roommate. Heh.

Kage 04-11-2005 09:08 PM

Heh...that's one of their wierdest songs. Isn't it Coin Operated Boy? Either way, it's a weird song.

misunderstood 04-11-2005 09:13 PM

Yeah, there we go..Operated...sorry about that. It is a rather strange song.

corporalclegg 04-11-2005 10:38 PM

Yeah, the Dresdon Dolls were kind of a wild card opener; I think they will set an odd mood for Nine Inch Nails.

misunderstood 04-11-2005 11:27 PM

missing pages?...i dont think so

Six Foot Revolver 04-12-2005 01:29 AM
Um... is this thread missing a few pages.. ?
What gave you this idea?

evilmenhavenosongs 04-13-2005 01:46 PM

Trent Reznor was in Kerrang the other week so I bought it and I'm really really really really really looking forward to this album. Really really. I would kill to see them live as well but they never come to Newcastle... :upset:
