Their first two albums (Black Sabbath, and Paranoid) were definitely the best. Their later stuff sucked because they felt they had to live up to their "metal" standards. But the best songs would have to be Wicked World, Black Sabbath (song that got me into them), and War Pigs. And just think, it all started with that flat 5th in their first song...
Dude Master Of Reality, Volume 4 and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath RULE |
^As do Sabotage, Technical Ecstasy and Never Say Die!
From the Ozzy-era. |
Parinoid is amazing I heard it was written just to be a filler or something..
|
Paranoid(the song) was written in the space of about 5minutes, they didn't even know what the word meant when they were writing the song.
It is an awesome song man |
Its a boring song.
Good intro riff, boring verse, no real chorus, bog-standard solo. Its catchy, but I really don't like it at all. |
iron man is my fav but i really like paranoid also
|
Yeah, Paranoid is one of my favorites.
|
There's a song on SBS featuring an Anvil?

|
^No, you're not.
Supernaut is one of my fav. Sabbath songs, along with the rest of the Vol.4 album. |
They should make this an official Black Sabbath thread.
|
Indeed.
Give me 5 mins to post it in the suggestions thread. |

Posted.
Hopefully it'll get changed, its the longest running Sabbath thread and there's been some good discussions in here. |
Isn't Supernaut post-Ozzy?
Nopers, its on Vol.4. I downloaded a live version with....Tony Martin on vocals, and he kinda killed it. I also have a version with Rob Halford on vocals, which is fantastic. |

If its the Halford version, its has about half of Supernaut, then it flies into Neon Knights.

|
^^^^
it is pretty cool, almost the whole thing is a guitar solo! |
not so crazy
I like 'War Pigs' a lot. The more I've listened to Black Sabbath lately, I've noticed that they sound a lot like Led Zeppelin. Has anyone ever noticed that or am I crazy?
Monti
This guy isn't nuts. I noticed that and people said I was crazy. I've always thought that they had a similar sound. Best song ever = Fairies wear boots |
Well, they were both bands of this classic rock/heavy metal gap bridging, so it's not that strange. It's just that Sabbath was far more on the metal side, especially post-Paranoid.
|
War Pigs isn't much like Zeppelin though...
|
Maybe I should correct myself, everting post-S/T album is more metal. Paranoid is a good mixture of the original classic rock style of Sabbath and the style they had which would eventualy become Heavy Metal.
|
It seems like overall, most people's favorite song is War Pigs.
