Animals > All other Pink Floyd

lunch998 10-29-2004 09:26 PM

Animals is great.

To KingofDudes:Those people just can't understand the genious of Pink Floyd.

jpj 10-29-2004 09:52 PM
So if I only have Wish You Were Here, which album should I get next?
You will get DSOTM, The Wall, and Animals.

jpj 10-29-2004 09:53 PM
That "Respected Bands you dont like thread", everyone is saying Pink Floyd.

Bah to them
Yea, they were all making me very angry  I hope they get hurt in the near future.

Big-Bird 10-29-2004 09:56 PM

Should I get Meddle?

I'm already planning on buying Animals, The Wall, and Piper at the gates of dawn

Riva 10-30-2004 02:06 AM

Yes. Meddle is a very good album, but get those three (Animals, The Wall and PATGOD first, as they will help you settle into the more conceptual Floyd. :)

Jim Spoon 10-30-2004 11:15 PM

Anything with the song Comfortably Numb on it is good

Permanent Solution 10-30-2004 11:22 PM
Yeah, Meddle is a great album. I actually got that before PATGOD, but Animals and The Wall are more essential buys than Meddle. I was really surprised when I finally heard Echoes actually, as I was expecting to maybe be a bit underwhelmed after everything I'd heard about it, but all the hype really is justified.
Bah, doubting us? :p
Echoes really is great :thumb:

Yes, meddle is my 5th favorite Pink Floyd album. Get it now.

weatherman123 10-31-2004 12:22 PM

I just went to a local cd store, and i bought two bootleg floyd dvd's, as well as delicate sound of thunder and a performance at Earls Court in 1980

weatherman123 10-31-2004 12:26 PM

and IMO, the best gilmour solo is the Pulse version of Comfortably Numb (second solo), or the second Dogs solo
I also really like the second Pigs (Three Different Ones) solo, although the one with the talkbox is pretty cool...
Another favorite of mine is the solo in Echoes, it just fits the song perfectly

What are people's favorite floyd rhythm tracks?
for me....its the chords in Breathe

Metal Meltdown 10-31-2004 01:47 PM

My favorite rhythm is probably Great Gig in the Sky (yeah, its piano, but so what?) And my favorite solo is probably the SOYCD solo. That song is just brilliant. WYWH is definitely the best Pink Floyd CD.
I like Pink Floyd without being high or anything, but I'm still going to listen to it whilst high to see if it lives up to its hype.

Has anyone seen the Aussie Pink Floyd? They really are amazing, if you get chance to see them, go and do it.

You won't regret it.
I just got to the aus pink floyd show for nov 19, there not that great of seats but ill tell you how it was after ive seen so far ive heard its almost as good has seeing Pink Floyd

DeusExMachina 10-31-2004 03:44 PM

My guitar teacher saw the Pink Floyd 3 times, ranging from the early 70's shows to the Pulse tour, and he's seen the Aussie Pink Floyd. Apparently, the Aussie Pink Floyd is not as spectacular of a light show type thing, but just as good sounding. Me, I loved the Aussie show.

Kingofdudes 10-31-2004 03:46 PM

:( I want to see them, but they arent touring near me.

DeusExMachina 10-31-2004 03:51 PM

Bummer. I saw them way back in April, when they did a really selective North America tour. Now they're doing a bigger one, but I moved since then and won't be able to see the show... go figure.

frkn'loud 10-31-2004 04:25 PM

my fave Pink Floyd album is The Wall its really well put together and its got some of Floyd's most haunting songs. as for the most haunting id have to say Careful With That Axe Eugene (listening to it now) for an instumental its pretty haunting but Is There Anybody Out There is up there. Money from Darkside of the Moon is my fave Floyd song. i had no idea they existed untill my dad showed me The Wall when i was 12 i was fascinated by them. but most of Floyd's songs are pretty haunting. but i have a problem ive got Dark Side of the Moon, The Wall and Wish You Were Here on vinyl, i need Animals and Ummagumma on vinyl but i cant figure out where i could get them from in Perth (west australia) can anybody help me?
cheers
Emery

You can use the internet for more than porn. Try ebay.
